Called and spoke to Mike today because I am WAY behind in winterizing my Bayliner. I'm a new-ish boat owner who moved up here from Louisiana, so winterizing is not something I'm familiar with, nor was our tech down in New Orleans. Anyway - Mike was SO helpful answering our questions and did so after hours. I have spoken with numerous other boat shops before when I've had rookie questions, but they've usually been snappy and impatient. Not Mike! He didn't make me feel rushed to get off the phone or that I was inconveniencing him. He gave me some great basic winterization info and I feel so much better going into this nasty cold weather coming this weekend. Thanks Mike! I really liked the sales effort and personal attention before and during the long sales process. Scott Kay was knowledgeable and attentive until the deal went through and then he dropped us like a hot rock. The new MasterCraft XT22 has had some issues with software and although he said he would be there for us and promised to install the registration stickers, he did not. He just directed me to Julia the Service lead via email. The service interaction has not been a stellar experience. Although Julia is responsive, there is little effort or follow through substance in the interactions. My boat is flawed and no one seems to care and if they do they have no sense of urgency or reasonable communication. It could be that they can't fix it without MasterCraft's help, but they could be more attentive to the interval of communication and give me some timeline to resolution. It is too bad, I had hoped they would be better at all of this as it is their main business. One note of praise goes to June who help us test our boat and even taught us to surf. She lent us her wake board and was very friendly and considerate with her sharing of knowledge and expertise. read more

Just an update on the astounding poor business practices of this dealership. They attempted to have the warranty nixed on my new Motor because it has a fresh water cooling kit installed by another dealer. They said the ECM was not flashed correctly. That was just a big fat lie. The EMC was correctly flashed for the kit and Mercury did not void the warranty. So basically they tried to snitch on that dealer. It backfired on them because Merccruiser did in fact replace the engine. Searay attempted to get me to take the Yelp down in return for a refund on service they gave me where they couldn't even get the diagnosis right for Merccruiser to make a judgement call. . I just contested the charge on my Visa with the results from the second test. The actual diagnosis - timing incorrectly set at the factory by 2 degrees caused oil burn, hot spots in the cylinders and preignition. Outcome, new engine. I simply despise this place read more

They were very helpful and knowledgeable and had everything we needed to finish our project.

Steve, of Lake Union Sea Ray, brokered the sale of our boat. We provided the key fob to our secured marina for showing to prospective buyers. The sale occurred quickly within 2 weeks. We promptly brought in the boat title to complete the sale. The boat show interrupted the dealer from launching off the new owners, although the sale was complete, so he gave the fob to them directly on September 15th. As a result, they kept the boat in our slip the remainder of the month with no arrangements to sub-lease. We repeatedly asked for the key fob to be returned by the salesman and the boat to be removed. This salesman put the security of the marina and moorers at risk and took no responsibility in seeing the transaction though after his sale was complete. He seemingly has no regard to the industry in which he works. He cared for his commissions only. I called Searay and spoke with the Manager, Kirk, who contacted the new owners who said they would return the key fob on October 3rd. ~ REALLY!!! I shared my feelings that that some of Steve's commissions should be forfeited for the cost 1/2 months moorage rent, restitution, penalty and negligence. I could sense the manager's confidence was lost by way of his defensive reaction. Sea Ray would not allow a boat to remain moored there for that amount of time, nor would they provide free access to their secure docks to a new owner. I am very upset that a salesman did not take responsibility. Another yacht club member shared their same disgruntled experience with this same person at Lake Union Searay. The manager did send a note of apology with a $100. certificate. Moorage in Yarrow Bay, I'm sure they know, costs a lot more than that. Insult remains........here even a year later. read more

After seeing the 2020 Sea Ray lineup at the Seattle Boat Show I decided to trade in my Chaparral for a new Sea Ray. At the boat show Steve was extremely patient with me and my family (young kids wanting to touch everything). He had all the answers to our endless questions and never put any pressure on us to buy a boat. When we showed up at Union Marine Seattle a few months later, with more questions, Steve was happy to help. He actually seemed just as excited about us getting a new boat as we were. From start to finish the process was very smooth and all the staff at Union Marine went out of their way to make certain we had everything we needed. They really paid attention to all the details and everyone was genuinely excited for us. The guy that cleaned the boat up for us did a great job! Jeff in service was very friendly and helpful in quoting us for some upgrades. Sandy in finance was very friendly and gave us several loan options with great rates! Gail, our delivery captain, was very thoughtful and thorough in teaching us about all 10,000 features on the boat. Union Marine even let us use their dock for 3 days while we waited to get into the new slip we bought. One of those days were beautiful and we wanted to take the boat out. Kurt helped us out with that. He even gave us his cell number to call in case we needed anything. We ended up getting back after the store closed due to a line at the locks and when we called Kurt he had already left, but immediately offered to come back down to the store to help us get tied up and let us out the gate. It's so hard to find quality customer service like this anymore! I couldn't be happier with everything and I really feel like my family has been warmly welcomed into the Union Marine family. What a joke of a place! You would think that this place would actually want to sell you a boat, since that's their business. Unfortunately the Seattle location is full of incompetent people who don't know what they're doing. Took 3 days just to get the price on a boat and took 4 days in order for the finance department to finally process my credit application. I was approved with flying colors, but they tried yanking me around about the interest rates. On top of it all, I am the one who had to do all the follow-up. I bought a boat that had just been tuned-up by these people. The boat was a 1986 Searay with a 470 I/O motor alpha outdrive. I actually bought it at their location from the original owner. We started it and it ran rough. Took it home and took it out for a sea trial. We made it 3 miles before it quite running. After a half hour of trying different things, it started running again. Went about 2 miles and watched the oil pressure drop to zero. Yes, oil residue on the inside of the motor cover, Shut it down. Towed it to the boat ramp, took it back to Lake Union Sea Ray. They looked it over and said there was nothing wrong with it. Took it back out for another sea trial. It did the same thing again. Nothing wrong with it my ass! Took it to Tacoma Marine Repair, They diagnosed the problem in 2 hours, had it fixed in 4 hours. The problem was a cracked top on the coil. The reason for the oil pressure drop, oil filter on loosely. DO NOT take your boat to this place to be worked on!!! They don't know what they are doing!!! Took the boat in for winterization, dash switches and tilt issue. I let them know loud and clear, it had to be done within a week as I was having back surgery. They say no problem. Prob 1: the parts I preordered never show up. They claim they shipped to my house....2 weeks later, still nothing. OK, stuff happens. Now, can you fix the tilt? Sure, no prob. I check back the next day...."yeah, we're going to need to order parts". OK, do it....remember, I have surgery next wednesday so will it be done? Yep- Monday! I call Monday...will it be ready? "Yeah, call us at 2 and we'll talk to the tech." OK, it's 2p. "Yeeeah, the parts won't be here til Wednesday..." Yeeeeahhh.....I won't be using these fine gentlemen again. We bought our used Sea Ray sport boat from Lake Union Sea Ray in July 2013. The boat we wanted had just sold but our salesman pointed us to an even nicer model for the same price at their Bellingham location. When I commented that it would be a while before we could get that far north and would just have to pass, he offered to have the boat shipped to the Lake Union location so we could test it that week. When we arrived for our appointment, the boat was idling at the dock and ready for us to go. Probably the only thing that keeps this from being a 5 star review is our experience picking up the boat the following week. Because our salesman left the dealership, there was nobody to coordinate getting the boat detailed and ready for delivery. We had to wait over two hours for the boat to be detailed (even then, they didn't finish cleaning the bottom of the hull) and having a broken light on the trailer replaced. All these things should have been done ahead of time. Our after the sale experience has been exceptional. My wife and daughter have taken the Women in Boating course which has greatly increased their confidence in piloting our boat. Perhaps even more astonishing to us was still being greeted by name when we dropped by their booth at the Boat Show two years later. Sea Ray makes a great boat and Lake Union Sea Ray is a great place to buy one. read more

Around April 2012 I acquired a used 18' Sea Ray that had just been serviced by Redmond Sea Ray among the services performed was replacement of the water pump in the out drive. For the next 11/2 years I could not get this boat to run at the temp it was suppose to. repeated conversations with the Sea Ray tech led no where. I took the boat to lake union sea ray and asked them to replace a hose I suspected coming from the outdrive to water pump on engine as everything else seemed to be OK. The hose was replaced and tested fine when running the boat on muffs to the outdrive. The tech indicated that because the water pump had been replaced very recently and I had already racked up over $900 in replacing one hose he saw no reason to replace the pump unit again. The boat would still heat up when placed in the lake and not running on "muffs" through a garden hose. Lake Union Sea Ray has no facility to test a boat in the water that has been brought in on a trailer because they have no launch facility and charge over $200 to take it to Gas Works park. Ridicules! I finally took the matter into my own hands. Removed the water pump they installed initially found it to be installed incorrectly and the pump housing not fully replaced. I installed a complete new upper and lower housing and new impeller. The boat now runs like a champ. For Lake Union Sea Ray to be a first class repair facility they need at least two things one is some really good techs and the second a launch facility for testing boats. I for one will never take my boat back to them for any work. read more

I purchased a used boat from Sea Ray Lake Union, in the fall of 2014 that was in "PERFECT" condition. The boat was supposedly inspected by SR Lake Union's marine mechanics and guaranteed to be in "FLAWLESS"" condition. After limited use in the summer of 2015, the boatwas inspected and found that engine required $4,500 of work. Mechanic indicated that any new marine mechanic would have caught the lack of maintenance to the engine and outdrive. Sea Ray would not discuss any support to make the boat correct or offer assistance. The general manager said, "they would not participate." I bought this boat on their guarantee that they did not honor in the first place. Sales guys can sell snow to an Eskimo, but the maintenance and staff have NO ETHICS or sense of right and wrong. read more

I recently brought in a SeaRay I/O which was having trouble shifting into gear. Through my own research, and talking to their service people on the phone, it sounded like a cable issue. They were booked solid, so I had to wait a week to bring it in for them to look and give me an estimate. After three days of me calling for updates, and being told "someone would get right back to me right away" they finally called. To do the analysis, they told me they had to remove the lower unit, and couldn't get it back on. They matter-of-factly told me that it would cost $X,XXX.00 not just to fix it, but to get it back into the same condition that I brought it in. I picked it up that night, with the out-drive in the back of truck. To be honest, everyone I spoke to on the phone up to the estimate was very nice and helpful, that's why I chose to bring my boat there. But when I said their estimate was out of my price range, and had to think about it, THEN saw that my outdrive was in a box in the back of my boat (after I'd paid for the work they'd done up to that point) the attitude I got was, "Yeah, sorry your boat's in pieces. Nothing we can do unless you want to pay $X,XXX.00. Hopefully others have a better experience. read more

Attended the annual SeaRay Rendezvous last weekend at Roche Harbor. It was a fantastic 3day event that entertained us in many ways. The cooking class and the dinner party on Friday stands out as excellent. Every attempt was made to making it a fun event. In addition we have had good experience overall with SeaRay at Lake Union. I am sorry to read that a number of people have had problematic experiences with the sales and service at this dealership. I've been a customer of the Mobile Service for a fair number of years and have a vastly different story to tell. Everyone I've dealt with has been extremely knowledgeable and professional. They've cared for my boat and been flexible with scheduling. Julia has been my go-to person for repairs and ordering and has always been responsive and trustworthy. Best of all, when my boat blew a riser coupling and tried to sink, the mechanic refused to leave me or my boat EVEN THOUGH IT WAS AFTER 5 on a FRIDAY. He stemmed the water flow and then called people until he found someone willing to dry-dock me. I was his top priority until the boat was out of the water. Fast forward a year... Even more telling is "service recovery". Businesses are human entities. They make mistakes. Are you perfect? No. So, a mistake was made that damaged an engine part. It happens. The five stars comes from how the mechanic owned up to it and did everything in his power to immediately correct it and make things right. Julia was right on top of things as well. So while a few people may have had difficult dealings, I have had exceptional ones - including service recovery. I suspect the one star ratings have allowed Lake Union SeaRay to learn from their errors and improve their business. Anytime I see one star ratings and a few fives, it tells me the business deserves a chance for me to check it out for myself which I encourage you all to do. read more

I had the chance to take the Women in Boating course offered by SeaRay on Lake Union - wonderful class!! We were broken out into groups and put on boats that were comparable to what we wanted or owned. I had never docked a boat before but could after this class and did so twice! The instruction was top notch and the instructor so patient with the group - a bunch of nervous ladies trying to pull a boat in without hitting anything. They provided a light lunch and a champagne toast when completed - and it was all free! For this type of class (3 hours) and the instruction we got I would have been willing to pay but this is something SeaRay offers - take advantage of this if you ever have the chance - you won't be disapointed. read more

I just took the complimentary "Women in Boating" class provided by Sea Ray and I cannot get over what a great experience it was. Kay did an amazing job of organizing the class and our instructor Russ was fantastic....and I will say pretty cute! We had a mix of women who had never driven a boat to those that drive regularly and everyone walked away more confidant in their abilities. He was always patient, calm and supportive and let us practice docking until we were all satisfied we were ready to tackle it in our own boats. What a wonderful group of people. Hello everyone just wanted to take a second to talk about lake union sea ray in seattle. I have a 18 ft byliner i normally take it to my mobile marine mechanic. But i decided to take it to byliner figuring they know there own boat well. it was starting revving and then would die. i paid the 140$ diag fee scheduled and appointment. when i took the boat in. it took them over a week just to look at it! mind you i had a appointment! they did not talk to me or let me know what was going on. when i called in i was just on hold never talked to the service person. they finally told me the engine was toast and i needed a new engine. they could not tell me why.....i called my normal mechanic he looked at it for 30 mins found a bad ignition coil and the boat works great... very disappointed they would not refund my diag money for a comp least improper diagnosis. will not be returning .. that being said the sales department is fantastic! they are great guys who pay attention and are very helpful! read more

I had intended to send Steve's management a note about the excellent service we received from Steve, but after seeing Chris S's Yelp post, have decided to give that feedback here. More on (1) below. (2) As far as Chris S's review - I am the new owner of Chris's boat. A few facts need to be given - (a) We did receive the keys and the key fob to the boat on 9/15. That is because that is the day that we purchased the boat outright. It would have been quite odd to purchase a boat and not have access to it, thus we needed the key fob. (b) We take offense that we pose a security risk. Nothing could be further from the truth. (c) Chris claims the boat was there until the morning of 10/1. This is false. We moved the boat out of the marina at 5:15pm on 9/30. We tried to turn the key fob in to the marina, but all the marina employees were gone. (d) Also, we talked to the marina multiple times about the boat slip - they said - (i) don't worry, it is paid for through the end of the month and (ii) someone else was moving into the spot so we had to be out of the slip by the end of the month (which we were). (1) Thank you Steve Thorsen for your wonderful service. You went above and beyond and we are very thankful for your help and expertise. Steve answered all of our questions, gave a lot of helpful advice, and was available at all times of the day.
