During that visit, Melinda Keller reviewed my intake forms and sent me for three X-rays before continuing the consultation. I was required to pay $125.00 for the X-rays that day. After reviewing the results, I was presented with an approximately $7,000 out-of-pocket treatment plan. When I asked how my progress would be measured and what specific improvements I should expect, I left feeling that my questions had not been clearly answered. The office also felt very high-volume, with one assistant caring for numerous patients, on different machines at the same time. Having previously worked for a chiropractor, I left feeling that the experience was more focused on selling a treatment plan than on individualized care. After my visit, I posted a Google review describing my experience. Shortly afterward, Melinda Keller personally called me and asked me to return to the office. During my second visit, much of our conversation centered on my review and the effect it could have on her business. She then offered several spinal decompression treatments at no charge so I could determine whether they would help. I agreed. On May 11, 2026, the assistant positioned me on the spinal decompression table and started the treatment. According to the manufacturer's safety instructions for the decompression table, patients should be provided with a handheld emergency stop button before treatment. I was not given one. I was also left alone in the treatment room -- on a machine that requires close monitoring while strapped into a high-tension mechanized machine - which, according to the manufacturer's instructions, was not consistent with the recommended safety procedures. During the treatment, the table unexpectedly began pulling and jerking one side of my body downwards with tremendous force. I do not know whether the machine malfunctioned or whether incorrect settings were used. What I do know is that I repeatedly called out "Hello!" twice because I needed help, and no one came into the room. The force was so sudden and violent that it is one of the most frightening experiences I have ever had. Eventually, the machine stopped on its own, and I remained lying there frozen in shock, watching the timer count down to zero. When the assistant returned to unstrap me, I mentioned the machine acting erratically, but she offered no explanation - not even a raised eyebrow - just an awkward silence. Afterward, because I already knew something had gone wrong and was concerned about the pain I was beginning to experience, I agreed to a cold laser treatment in the hope that it might reduce inflammation and help minimize any injury. As someone who has worked extensively with medical lasers in my own profession, that seemed like a reasonable decision at the time. Before the cold laser treatment began, the assistant immediately handed me an emergency shut-off button and instructed me to use it if the treatment became too warm. That moment has stayed with me ever since. I had just completed a treatment on a motorized decompression table while alone and without an emergency stop button, yet I was promptly given one for a laser treatment where I could have simply sat up if I became uncomfortable. Approximately a week later, I emailed Melinda Keller explaining that I continued to experience significant pain and specifically asked what machine settings had been used during my decompression treatment. Instead of answering my question, or calling me to discuss what had happened, I simply received copies of my intake paperwork and X-rays. I never received the information I requested or any meaningful follow-up regarding the incident or my how I was feeling. I am currently undergoing medical evaluation. Until that process is complete, I cannot say exactly what injuries I may have sustained. I can say that I continue to experience pain that began immediately after this treatment. Pain that I didn't have before the treatment experience. This review reflects only my personal experience. Based on what happened to me, I cannot recommend Brooklyn Spine Center.

Dr. Steinmetz is just a caring, understanding, well-mannered, humble, and gracious person. I have to say person, because he has to be such a person first to be a doctor with those qualities. Not to be ignored is his staff. His staff is just as courteous and understanding. I read reviews putting them down - but I beg to say, the person writing such a review, doesn't quite have an understanding of what to expect from an office staff in such a delicate yet fast-moving environment, attending to phones, patients, and any requests of the doctor... May Jehovah God bless Dr. Steinmetz and his staff, giving all of them good health and long life so they may take care of us who need them.

Honestly, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else…read more I used to come here before it became The Home Depot Emergency Center, and it was actually fantastic. Quick, organized, reliable. Whatever happened deserves its own documentary because this place is now giving portal to purgatory. My husband and I came in on a Wednesday because of a foot injury. All he needed was an X ray and someone to look at it. We spent FIVE HOURS there, and the only medical treatment he received was having his vitals taken. They brought us to the back to wait for a doctor and then seemingly deleted us from the system. Three different nurses came over at different times, asked for his name, called him by the wrong name, and then asked, "Why are you still here? We haven't seen you?" FUN FACT... I'm wondering the same thing. WHY ARE WE STILL HERE?! After about three hours of this fever dream, they moved us to the "FastTrack" area, which I can only assume was named as a joke. We then sat there for another TWO HOURS while everyone collectively forgot we existed. Again. Meanwhile, two nurses were openly talking about how badly they wanted to go home. At that point we looked at each other and said, "You know what? We don't want to be here either, girl," and walked out. Now here's where it somehow gets even better. TWO HOURS AFTER WE LEFT, they called us to ask if we were still there. I'm sorry... what? At that point I wasn't sure whether to laugh or congratulate everyone involved on creating the most immersive escape room experience in New York. Honestly, you're probably better off going to CityMD, MedRite, or asking the guy at your local bodega for a second opinion. At least someone will acknowledge your existence. I'm genuinely convinced this place is run by NYU's psychology department as a social experiment to see how much absurdity people will tolerate before they completely lose it. I wish I were kidding.

While I didn't feel Dr. Joudeh was coming onto me in a sexual way, what medical professional offers this as an option to any patient at a routine physical exam? Listen, I'm not an expert, but I sure as heck know that smoking 'Ayahuasca' isn't possible and that lacing something with synthetic DMT probably isn't a solid alternative. Also, the staff has really gone downhill. No one calls anymore to refill my script, give blood work details or test results. I'm still IN CHARGE of what tests I want performed, or so I thought. I was basically lied to. Second, things are not nearly as clean as they used be. I was nervous about having my blood drawn. There were three other nurses in the tiny room at the same time, all chatting and busy, while one just kinda took out a needle and wanted to get started. No masks, no gloves (which was the worst offense). I literally had to ask the nurse to 'please focus' as I want to make sure you have your shit together before you start putting needles in my arm. My uncle passed away from staff infection he obtained during a routine blood test - I was nervous. Nothing about this office is worth returning too. They used to be the BEST. Sad.
