As well as food, there's a massive clothing section which actually has some nice stuff, a huge electrical section and lots of kitchenware. It feels like somewhere you could do a massive home shop. To suit it's size there are lots of checkouts and always lots of staff so even at the busiest times you're not waiting too long to get served. Staff on the shop floor are run off their feet. They need to look at customer queuing times on market street, NOT the tills. I have given up waiting to be served numerous times as there is only ever one person, that's if they are there, due to other jobs they are made to do. I have witnessed other customers walking away on a regular basis. Staff are very apologetic but this is not good enough. They clearly need help and yet the managers are usually stood outside smoking, walking past, ignoring the huge queue of us customers waiting to be served. VERY bad management. Maybe the staff on the shop floor could be trained to help during busy periods? Instead I see them chatting and having a laugh whilst I am waiting, or maybe management could degrade themselves and serve me! It is outrageous the way this store is run. They constantly ignore the Councils rules and regulations when it comes to delivery trucks and have coming past everyone's property along the the streets throughout every night, regardless of the hour. They allow folk to tie their barking pets outside whilst the customers do a 'shop', which can take a long, long time. Customers take note : your lovely dog can be stolen and used for bait in dog fights! How can you be so cruel? If your pet barks outside a store, it is distressed and it is telling you so! If you return to that place where you put your dog, and it's not there, enjoy feelings of guilt for the rest of your life! It is probably being chewed up by now! When I complained and explained this to Asda, and asked them not to encourage it by leaving a water bowl out, their response was that they would rather customers choosing to leave their dogs there at least had a drink! What? Like having their last meal before a death sentence? How considerate! So yes, Asda are pretty good with customers. Just not very clued in with pets and the heavy truck loads through the night.

The toilets were immaculately clean and again "usable" which isn't something you can say for a lot of them. The different sections were all massive as was this whole place, and after Manchester's walmart (near the city stadium) this is the biggest one I have been to. Blackpool has an Asda walmart people!!

(In the Burscough store, the Lancashire red rose stickers alert you to stuff grown or produced in the county.) I noticed some interesting organic lines, for example, organic mascarpone and ricotta which I have only ever previously seen online at Abel & Cole. Bike racks for twenty bikes is more than the combined total bike racks for the much larger Asda Skelmersdale and Skelmersdale town centre. And Booths bike rack is covered so your bike won't get wet! The whole black with white highlights corporate colour scheme is a lot more grown up that the brash colours of other supermarkets. The 'posh deli' decor is just fine for the proper deli/butcher/fishmonger/bakery aspects, the posh booze and so on. I can understand why they have to do it, but the usual garish magazine racks and supermarket crap food favourites look a bit out-of-place on the elegant black wire display shelves - 'Would Madam care for a carton of Pringles?' I could easily come up with a long list of personal annoyances regarding the fresh produce. For example, shelled peas and tenderstem broccoli from Kenya in August - is that the most 'local' Booths can do? Although I think the main issue for me is that having sourced fresh produce from local organic farms, I am spoiled for anything else. Growing or at least picking it yourself and hyperlocal seems to be the way forward for fresh produce, in my experience. Or maybe a big, rough farm shop warehouse with tractor tyre marks on the floor. So do give it a look, but I personally will give Booths a miss in favour of Unicorn grocery in Chorlton, Abel & Cole and best of all my local farm suppliers.
