DON'T USE UNITED GEAR WORKS!!! FIND A DIFFERENT COMPANY!!!!! In November of 2023, an extruder screw broke on one of our machines. We located United Gear Works. We spoke with their representative, Richard Price, and were given a quote of $1,900 for the repair, which they wanted us to pay up front BEFORE the repair was done. We put it on our company credit card. They ran the charge using the account of their sister company, In and Out Gear Repair. On Nov 20, 2023, United came by and picked up the broken extruder screw. Mr. Price then informed us that the repair had been completed and that the extruder screw would be returned on Monday, Jan 15, 2024. After countless phone calls and assurances that the screw would be delivered, he told us that they had subcontracted the job out to another shop and that they had lost the extruder screw. He assured us that they would pay us for a replacement extruder screw. He asked us to get a Quote for a replacement extruder screw and he agreed to pay us within 5 days after presentation of the Quote. He signed a settlement agreement on behalf of United Gear Works documenting the agreement. We presented him with a Quote for the replacement extruder screw on Feb. 20, 2024. As of April 2024, no monies have been received. We have contacted him, but he has now gone silent. I went on the web and found similar stories about United Gear Works, with some sending the part, paying for the repair, and never getting the part back. What does that tell you? We contacted our credit card company and did a "chargeback" of the $1,900, but we are now out a very expensive extruder screw. The cost to replace it is $7,500. DON'T USE UNITED GEAR WORKS!!! STAY AWAY!! As with previous reviews, this company is horrible. sent gearbox to them for repairs, all along them saying that they would have quick turnaround and get it done right. they did not communicate barely at all. they took way longer than promised. when we got the gearbox back, it was missing pieces, old seals were reused, bearing race was missing. Tried to say missing pieces were "cosmetic". what a joke. wish I would have read other reviews prior to sending anything out. they also go by the name of in and out gear repair. read more

These guys are scam artists. They arrange your part to be picked up and billed to you. They request the part to be held for pickup at the LTL terminal so you don't have an address to trace it to. They give you a quote and want payment up front. We paid for the repair of the wheel we sent them. They came back and said there is more work to be done and for alot more money. We told them we wanted to come see the wheel in person. Refused to give us an address of where it is. Would not send pictures of the repaired wheel. We declined the additional work and told them we would have one of our drivers come pick it up as we were passing near Houston. They would not give us the wheel unless we sent more money. Would not tell us where the wheel is so we can see it. Nothing. Just wanted us to send more money. If you use them just plan on losing whatever money you send them and the part. CROOKS! read more

SCAM SCAM SCAM. DO NOT WORK WITH THESE PEOPLE. We shipped 3 gear boxes to Jon McMillen in March of 2022. I am writing this review in Oct 2022. They ghosted all of our contact information and never shipped the parts back. My company lost over $10,000.00 or more in equipment. I have spoken with Jon who I am pretty sure also goes by the other members of the team "Pauly" and "Shawn". I am pretty sure this is a fake company, if it isn't than the company as a whole should be shut down and stripped of any profit they have made to recover these parts for me and likely several other companies. read more

United Gear works is a business populated by scam artists that do not return your calls or emails after they have your equipment in their possession and have received at least a partial payment. I sent them pictures of a small, obsolete, worm gear high box that needed repairs. They gave me an estimate of around $1200.00 to repair it. I sent it to them and shortly thereafter the problems began. I contacted them after a week or so to see how the repair was progressing. I was informed by Jon Price that the cost would actually be $3600.00 to repair the gear box. I requested that the unit be shipped back to me so I could find another repair shop. Jon said he would talk to his boss and see what he could do. He got back to me with an updated price of $1650.00 for the repair and a lead time of a couple of weeks. We paid half up front, a huge mistake, and were patiently waiting for word on completion of the repair. That was over 8 months ago. After multiple emails and phone conversations in the first month, in which I was repeatedly told the repair was almost complete, any day it would ship, it was practically out the door, they quit responding to my calls and emails.... So we are out $850.00 and have no gear box. I emailed all the contacts I could find in the company, all of them are aware of the problem. None of them have done anything to help. read more

We prepaid 9,550.00 to have the work done. after trying to contact them repeatedly, they claim they repaired them and sent them back on their own truck. well let me just start off by saying this might just be the greatest gearbox repair company i sent out my winsmith gearbox to be repaired many many times with other companies and i just wasn't impressed with the repair but united gear works got the job done fast they had it back to me in 3 days and it did not break my bank and this was 2 years ago and the gearbox is still going great today i would very much recommend again thank you guys for being so great read more
