My counter to Kevin L. I disagree with every point he made!…read more On two occasions, I was a resident at Homestead. The first visit was after I survived (barely) a AAA ruptured Aneurism. I found the staff to be knowledgeable, dedicated, friendly and caring! I was there for 100 days, coming from Morristown Hospital and Kindred Hospital. I was admitted as a basket case, just 90 days after a life threatening event. The nursing staff: RN's CNAs, Aides, support staff, all took care of me! They were ALL friendly and helpful! They were knowledgeable & efficient. I liked the food! I liked the rooms! The Therapist worked with me! I had Occupational, Speech & Physical therapy! I entered Homestead as a basket case and was discharged to my home, 100 days later, in my wheelchair! My doctors could not believe my progress. They said it was because I worked so hard to get better BUT I say it was because I had such good help from everyone at Homestead! 'Good Vibes' promote healing! Two years later, I developed an abdominal hernia! My belly expanded to a 65 inch waist. I looked horrendous! My doctors performed another life saving operation to close up my abs with 170 staples and I returned to Homestead for a second Rehab! Again the excellent therapy and the care and concern of the nursing staff had me ready to go home after only 30 days. I came in by ambulance and walked out the front door with just a cane! I hope I will never need the services of Homestead Rehab again! But if I do, I know I will received the best treatment available. So, Kevin L., I'm not sure how long you "worked" at Homestead, but you could not have given it a chance! Maybe, just maybe, you were never destined to work in hospital services.

It does not work in some of the rooms. I told maintenance about it 10 months ago. Still ignored. And the food is only good sometimes. Also, there also disorganized. They are short alot. The aid forget alot. Plus when a patient pushes the call button, most of the time they take 10 to 40 minutes before someone comes. Sometimes they don't come at all. I don't blame staff. They hsve some really good professional. Upper managment does not realize what assets the workers are. Bottom line, new owners Needs someone on the Board of directors needs someone with high emotional intellgents. Plus, lots of disorganization there. They need a person with business experence and education with high emotional intellegence.

Our brother was left food on the table with no assistance to eat and each time the full, untouched food was taken away. Rude staff. Wanted to talk to the actual nurse, was told they were changing shifts, 15 minutes later she finally came out to talk. In my opinion, a waiting room to die. Contact person never received a call to say our brother passed. Others were contacted. Stay away, keep your loved ones away from this facility.

Probably one of the worst experiences in my life. I was told ahead of time that the length of stay…read morewas max 6 months. Once I arrived, residents told me, "Oh, this is my 14th month." "My 15th month.", etc. I panicked because I felt as though I was sold a bill of goods, and I was. Yes, it is a serious recovery program which I'm told is respected throughout the community. I learned it has the moniker, "Last Chance Ranch" because it is so severe and geared more for those who have relapsed multiple times. Many women in my community did have serious issues. For example, one woman had myelopathy due to her history with alcohol, so she could barely walk. Another woman believed her soul mate, a male, lived inside her body. Another woman had a psychotic break during my time there. And then there were the personality disorders. All this under the roof of an administration that seemed to care more about 'heads on beds' than the individual. I know I was not near on the spectrum as some of the women in the community, especially since I was new to rehabs. And wow! I wound up locked up for 17 months! It was a traumatizing experience. One that I still have nightmares about today. One example of a nightmare is me doing everything right, following all the rules in life, and somehow I wind up back in Alina Lodge and lose agency over my life and am locked up all over again. Because that's how it felt, follow the rules, live a very austere life, day in day out, never knowing when you'll leave. At least in prison you know when you will be released! Long story short, I'm doing well now, and so glad this is back in my rear view mirror. It was a real learning lesson of the business side of the recovery industry! No soul. No joy.

I realize now she was just a paycheck and few staff members actually cared. The individual counseling was not 2 hours a week, it was lucky if it was one.
