Used this taxi company 3 times. The first two male drivers - not a word. Zero interaction. Not a smile. Not a thank you. Not a have a nice day. Zippo courtesy. This morning, I booked online to pay £5.60 to have the driver drop off a pre-paid and pre-labeled small item to the post office 3 minutes (by car) away. The driver said he was not a delivery driver, however, he would do it for £10.00 (no doubt cash in his pocket) I called and spoke to a young woman in an effort to complain. The nonsense got worse. The drivers are not allowed to get out of the car. Does she really think I am that stupid? I told her that the last driver did get out of my car to help me put my groceries in the trunk. I would not give them one penny in a tip. I will never use United again or recommend them. I was not comfortable with any of the three males, in particular the last two. read more

29 12 2023 Tried to book a cab with United Taxis for New Year's Day 0100hrs. Advised by the agent that the company policy was not to take bookings for New Year's Day at that time or any other peak season/ timings. The agent refused to escalate a complaint and offered an email address. 29 12 2023 I emailed a formal complaint. 02 01 2024 Received a response confirming the above policy. 16 01 2024 Requested that my complaint be escalated. They have not responded. It is disappointing that a taxi firm can operate such a customer-unfriendly policy. It's at these times that booking is essential. Note..... 29 12 2023 I was able to book a taxi from PCR Streamline for New Year's Day 0100hrs. 30 12 2023 I had to amend the booking with PCR Streamline. My dad unfortunately lost his wallet at some point today (we aren't sure where so I was calling around), and even though it wasn't found -- the company went out of their way to find the driver that he traveled with, contact the driver, and then get back in touch with us to let us know that it wasn't there. The person I spoke to was very helpful, friendly, and respectful. Would definitely travel with them again. And if they see this, thank you for being so great to us! 1 star is too high!!! Terrible service, needed a taxi to take me to a doctors appointment booked a couple hours in advance. No taxi turned up so called to ask where it was, was told it had been and gone when it most definitely didnt turn up. Called up 4 - 5 times asking where it was and was told it would be rerouted to pick me up or they had called another taxi which were "2 minutes away", none of which turned up. Finally got a taxi 30 mins after the original pick up time after getting terrible service and attitude from the operators making me extremely late for the doctors appointment. No real apology, had to pay full price, all round awful service and quality of work. Refuse to ever use them again, got a taxi from 01202 373737 which found me in minutes of ordering the taxi and was cheaper. read more

Beware of the phone scam they're drivers are running! People leave phones in taxis all the time. These low lives have capitalised though. Here is what they're doing. Someone leaves their phone in one of there taxis, when the owner realises and calls United, they'll tell you 'yes the driver has you're phone and will drop it off when they're back on duty'.. you think it's safe so you don't kill the phone remotely.. they'll keep you waiting and waiting for the driver to drop it off. . This gives them time to hack and/or sell your phone on. After a couple of days they'll tell you they'd made a mistake and got your phone mixed up with someone else's. If it's cheaper/older phone you might get it back. guess the scam wouldn't work so well if no phones at all were returned!! Beware.. or simply don't use United read more

He added £1.20 thinking I would not notice. When I questioned this he said it was a ' Service Charge' for booking over the phone. I suspect they do this from hotel pickups as they know people are out of area. I rang the office to complain and after a long conversation they put the phone down. Says it all really ! read more

Have been using United for over 10 years and was surprised by one of the earlier reviews where one bad experience with one driver is casting a shadow over the whole firm Don't get me wrong, the practice described is abominable but one bad driver shouldn't be used as an excuse to taint the whole firm In all the years I have been using them (when living locally in Moordown or when visiting family now that I'm in London) i have never encountered any problems at all. I know that using the logic of my earlier argument that one positive review doesn't make them Cab firm of the year but they are certainly not to be avoided. Does the job in getting around Bournemouth but it's a bit hit and miss with whether you get a nice driver or not. Booked yesterday via the app, which just sat on "Getting information..." and never gave me any information about my arriving car. I put in the booking notes that I would be paying by card, it's advertised all over the website and their cars but I thought it was best to let them know given a past experience with them. Driver arrived and first thing he says is "You want to pay by card?" When I said yes he replied "Can we go via a cash machine instead so you can get out cash?". Erm... no not really, I don't carry cash. He concluded "Oh, okay I'll have to start up the card machine, it *might* be okay...". When it came to paying at the end of the journey he set up the machine for payment and then put his hand out for me to give him my card. I intended to pay via contactless to speed up the process so got him to hand the reader to me as I generally don't hand my card over to people. Tapped my card and the reader says "Please insert card". Looks like the reader is set up to take Contactless but not Amex Contactless (I doubt they have ever been updated). I was travelling for business so asked for a VAT receipt and was told "It IS printing a receipt". Generally I thought the attitude of the driver was a little bit poor. Overall the ride was okay, it's just a shame the payment situation was a bit rocky and frowned upon. read more

We book a taxi through the app and the booking was confirmed. The booking was made 1 hour and 45 minutes before the pick up. No text, no phone call out of courtesy to say the driver was going to be late! We called the office and they said they could confirm what time the driver will be able to come!!! My question to anyone that is reading this is, how would you feel if you are fully let down by a taxi company that accept a booking and don't turn up??? We cancelled the booking and it ruined the night!!! Thanks to United taxis!!! I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.... as it is NOT a trusted company! read more

AVOID THIS PLACE!!!! I had to go to Bournemouth today for a meeting and decided to go by train. Upon arrival, I caught a taxi in front of Bournemouth Rail Station--yellow taxi with Streamline Warrens/Radio Cabs logo. The man gave me a quote of 'about £8.00' and was pleasant throughout the journey. He took me directly to my destination in less than 10 mins (in heavy morning rush hour traffic). When we reached the office the metre showed £6.80--and that is what he charged me, even though he quoted £8.00. However, when I was leaving the meeting, the office offered to call me a taxi to take me back to the station. A man from United Taxis arrived and did not give me a quote (I mistakenly presumed it would be about what I had paid earlier.). I said I wanted to go to the station and he kept hinting I should go to the coast, he said he was 'heading that way anyways'. He continually pointed out the route to the coast and kept saying he could take me there and I should go before leaving Bournemouth. I continually insisted I wanted to go to the station. He drove very VERY slowly--I saw the speedometer at just over 20 mph when the speed limit was actually 40 mph. He slowed down even more every time we approached a green traffic light (the closer we got to the light/intersection, the slower he would go) and he completely stopped at the roundabouts, even though there was no one to our right (other cars next to us were driving through the roundabout whilst we sat and he chatted about the coast or night clubs until the car behind us would honk for him to go). Cars were going around us and honking as he was starting to hold up traffic--especially at every single intersection we crossed when he slowed down for no reason (other than in the hopes of catching a red light and running up the metre even further?). He did not go the same way the first driver took me, and I saw that we actually drove past the station TWICE! I was about to ask to be let out of the car when he slowly pulled into the station (the third time we passed it!). In total, this journey took 16.9 mins--I timed it on the stop watch feature on my Iphone--and it cost £10.00. I have never seen anything like this in my life. It was quite obvious he was trying to run up the metre as much as possible and I was very angry for being so blatantly taken advantage of. Maybe this company just goes after tourist? --as I see they have a few old, positive reviews from people who claim to be locals.. My company pays for all of my travel expenses, but had I been paying for this I would have been furious and said something. As it was, I was just trying to catch my train after a long day of meetings. I wasn't sure what to do whilst I was in the car--tell him to speed up to the speed limit? Demand to be let out, even though I didn't know where I was? Tell him I refuse to pay more than I had paid on my trip to/from the same destinations earlier in the day? What is one meant to do when you can clearly see the driver is deliberately inflating the fare?? I have this guy's driver license number and Taxi/PH Plate Number--or at least, the one he gave me (I am happy to pass this on to anyone who asks) and I have reported him/this company to the various relevant agencies. Whilst I can appreciate this taxi was just £3.00 more expensive, it's still the principle that drivers/companies should not intentionally run up fares. This is a very bad practice, reflects Very poorly on the whole company, and generally gives the industry a bad reputation. £3.00 from me, and £3.00 from someone else will eventually add up. I have further meetings in Bournemouth, and I will NOT be using United Taxis again. My office has been advised not to use this company again, and I would NOT recommend United Taxis to anyone. I should have read the revues before I booked with United Taxis of Bournemouth ! Zero rating for this outfit. They are hopeless. Have you ever heard of a cab business that does not answer the phone? United don't. I advanced paid for a cab to and from Bournemouth Airport. On the morning of departure I tried to confirm but they did not answer the phone. I was concerned so I drove to the office in Holdenhurst Rd where a Lady was seated behind a large glass window behind the counter . I waited for her to attend however she had other ideas and used an intercom. I had to shout why I had come to the office. Standing next to her was an hugely obese chap that looked up and snarled at me whilst I was confirming the booking (nice touch) Eventually after considerable dithering she found my confirmation and I re-confirmed that I had a handicapped son and would require a tall taxi. Later on in the day the taxi arrived. ...a low saloon that three of us with luggage squeezed into. I was furious about United's negligence. On arrival back at Bournemouth Airport (you have probably already guessed what I am about to say) yes, the cab that I had paid for did not turn up and we were the only people left waiting outside the airport for three quarters of an hour .... as I went through the same protracted harangue on the phone to get service. They had actually lost the booking!! They did say that they had a new computer system that had gremlins. They also said the same claptrap 10 days later on our return! Both drivers knew very well how apathetic the company is and how frustrated they are having to deal with irate customers. i use this bournemouth based company all the time.. if u live in the area, an you use them regularly, your number and address is stored- an automated voice answers an all you do is press 1 to confirm, an hey presto a taxi arrives. the automated system works if its a taxi for 4 peeps or less, if you need a bigger car, or would like to pre book your pick up time, stay on the line for a human. i have never had a problem with this firm, and i wont stop using them.. read more

I booked with United Taxis to be picked up from the Queen Elizabeth II Cruise Terminal at Southampton at 9 am last Friday to be driven to Bournemouth. I paid in advance £72.50. My wife and I were off our cruise ship and waiting for the taxi at 8:55. When it had not arrived by 9:10, I rang United Taxis and spoke to a lady who told us she would ring the taxi driver to find out how long he expected to be before he could pick us up. After being put on hold for two or three minutes, I was told he had run into traffic and would be another twenty minutes. At 9:45, I rang United again and after a five minutes wait to get through, was told by the same lady that the driver was outside the cruise terminal and would be a matter of a few minutes. At 10:10, my wife rang United Taxis a third time and spoke to somebody else who initially did not seem to be aware of our booking and who made a variety of excuses to my wife which were obviously lies (and my wife told her so). However, this second lady eventually told my wife she would ring the driver and get him to ring us on our mobile. A few minutes later, the taxi driver did ring and said he had been waiting for us for over an hour at the Ocean Cruise Terminal - not the Queen Elizabeth II terminal at which we had asked to be picked up. The driver said he would drive the short distance to the Queen Elizabeth II terminal which he did and we eventually started our journey back to Bournemouth at 10:45, one hour and forty-five minutes late. By that time there had been a tremendous build-up of traffic and it took us exactly two hours to get back to Bournemouth (including 45 minutes to get out of the docks). On the way back, the driver told us: (1) He had not been given the job until around 8:35 which would have made it impossible for him to get to Southampton by 9 am. (2) He had been told to pick us up at the Queen Elizabeth II terminal but the dispatcher had added an information note changing this to the Ocean Cruise Terminal. (3) He had not been rung by the dispatcher at around 9:15 and asked how long he thought it would take to get to Southampton and there was average traffic on the roads at that time. (4) When he arrived at the Ocean Cruise Terminal and could not see us, he telephoned the dispatcher to check the venue he had been given was indeed correct (and was told it was) and asked for our contact details but was told that United had none, even though I had telephoned at 9:15 so you would have had a record of my mobile number. In fact, when my wife phoned she was not asked for the mobile number as I am aware that when call is made to united the calling number is displayed and linked via your customer database to a name and an address. In fact the excuse "he has run into traffic" had been used before on one occasion when the taxi was late. The cost included an extra £7:50 for the driver's time to park in a car park and to cover the car parking fee. At the Queen Elizabeth II terminal, there is no car parking for taxis - there is a central area where the stewards direct the taxis for them to load/unload. It took us almost four hours to get home from Southampton - a journey that would be expected to take an hour at most. I wrote an email of complaint to United Taxis the next day. I did not even get an acknowledgement. I telephoned four days later to enquire why I had not even received an acknowledgement and asked when I might expect a reply. I was told I would get a reply "when we can get round to it". I asked to speak to a manager and was told there was no manager there until after 12 o'clock. I asked the manager's name and was told there was a team that dealt with complaints not a specific person. I then asked for the email address of the manager and was told to contact customer services. One week later: Eventually got through to a director who refunded the cost of both journeys - the trip to Southampton which went without a hitch and the return journey, which could not have gone worse! read more

Had numerous cases of drivers taking the 'long way around' to my destination, as well as quotes given by the office not matching up to reality. I will avoid going forward and stick to Streamline Warrens who I've never had a problem with. read more
