He and his wife both run this clinic - they combine both western and eastern medicine and practices to treat a variety of bone and joint problems. His wife has experience in acupuncture and I heard she is very experienced as well. In the eastern culture it is believed that acupuncture, especially from a master, could be very impactful. From my experience, I've been having problems with my shoulder ever since I was young - this involves overstretched and stressed tendons in and around the joint of my shoulders. This causes occasional pain when doing exercises in certain angles that were bad for my shoulders or playing aggressive sports such as hockey or ultimate frisbee. I've been to a variety of doctors and physiotherapists who were unable to exactly diagnose to problem or help me heal it. Going to this clinic drastically improved my shoulder joints made it feel a lot better and essentially healed it. He provided me with exercises, medical patches and tips on to preserve the state of my shoulder. I recommend anybody with persistent joint pain anywhere on their body to go see this doctor, because he's very diligent and able to resolve the problem immediately. There are some caveats though that it's very expensive, this treatment cost me thousands of dollars and he doesn't speak English well because he primarily practices in Cantonese. His hours are flexible and the clinic works as a mix of walk-ins and appointments. During core hours you should be able to walk-in, but it's safe to make an appointment and the doctors are usually lenient and will try to accommodate you.

When I went to a more well known chiropractor, he stated the manipulation Chan Ming Fai did on me (from my description of what happened), should have NEVER been done on anyone!! Chan Ming Fai IS TERRIBLE!!! Beware. Secondly, he disclosed other patient information to me. He showed me a patient's information form with the name, phone number, date of birth and their diagnosis and how he helped this person, this is unprofessional and illegal. In fact, as I write this, I am looking up how to report this. Lastly, some of the things he said did not make sense. I was desperate and made a mistake in believing him. I regret it. When I tell others, I find more people that is telling me their horrible experience and that he is a fake. Its one thing he cannot help you, it's horrible when he hurt you from his treatment and make you in a worse pain than you originally was suffering. He should not perform manipulations on people when he is unsure or inexperienced.

I had to wait few months for MRI appointment and see a specialist. I decided to try physiotherapy while waiting for my appointments. In my first appointment, Ali listened to me carefully, examined my shoulder, neck and limited movement. He diagnosed it's frozen shoulder, explained what are the stages of frozen shoulder, took the time to show me what muscles/tendons are causing the pain, what should or shouldn't I do and planed a treatment routine using manual stretches (very painful!!), Laser, ultrasound, Acupuncture twice a week. After few weeks, my range of motions increased and had less pain. He even thought me how to put a pillow under my shoulder and arm at night so there is less pressure on my shoulder so I can get some sleep. I'd had really good results with the technique previously and wanted to try it on my tight calves. A Facebook friend mentioned being treated here so I did a bit of investigating. They're really quick to answer emails and very helpful! It took a while to organise an appointment-a mixture of them being busy and me having to work. When we managed to coordinate schedules, it was really easy. I was allowed to book by email and got a time that suited me! The space is really lovely. It's all open in the centre with lots of light and shiny wood floors. Individual treatment rooms are off to the side which was really nice. Can't say I love going to physio and being in a row of beds as if it's an old style ward. I like my privacy! Especially when I'm paying for it. My reception was friendly and I was given the usual intake forms and then it was just a short wait before my physio arrived. I had Carl who was fabulous. Really friendly, very thorough and excellent clinically. He picked up on stuff without me telling him which is always a good sign. He also didn't just look at my calves-he was more holistic and system-based which I also liked. There were moments when I didn't completely love him (like when he was putting needles into my chronically tight muscles) but overall I have only praise for him! I particularly liked it that he didn't try to book me in for more sessions. It was left open-ended...I can go back if I need to. I don't like being stuck going back forever and ever. Rates are pretty standard I think. It's $110 for the first session which is stated to be 45 minutes. I think it was at least that if not slightly longer. Follow-ups are $60 for 20 minutes and $70 for 30 mins. I think most places are that expensive though. And I escaped with a one-off. Think my calves feel better.
