Customer service in Unity Health Hospital in Searcy is the worse I've experienced in 30+ years. 30+ years ago hospitals treated patients as if they were doing you a favor by taking care of you. Then over the years hospital healthcare service improved and patients were treated like a valued "customer". Well Unity in Searcy didn't get the memo because they still treat patients as if they're doing you a favor. My wife was admitted to Tower 2, 3rd floor on October 14, 2024. The good news is the doctors are fine and their health problem diagnosis and treatment is fine. My complaint is with customer care while in the room. More specifically my complaint is their delayed response to answering the room call light. Their response is always slow and even none existent on one occasion. The day shift wasn't too bad. I would not have taken time to write the review based on the day shift. The night shift was the problem. I was told by several staff members that the delays are due to being short handed. That is no excuse. A specific example is, I pushed the call light, the call was answered. We waited about 10 minutes for someone to show up and then I walked over to ask if there was someone that can help my wife. Ten minutes may not sound like a long time to wait but my wife really needed help and based on previous experience I thought it was best to walk down the hall and ask for help. All three of the ladies sitting in the nurses station said they could help but they didn't know I called. I told them I spoke to someone and asked if they had seen the message. They said they don't take messages. They communicate via word of mouth (obviously not very efficiently). At this point they are available to help, know I need help, but didn't do anything. They just sat there. The process is obviously broken because three people were sitting in the nurses station, per their own admission were able to help, but didn't know we needed help. Someone needs to address this obvious flaw in their process and address the workers attitude. I'm from Baton Rouge and have been spoiled by excellent customer service in Baton Rouge hospitals. I believe the difference is, there is competition in larger cities like Baton Rouge and Little Rock but Unity has no local competition therefore no urgency to improve customer care. I hate confrontation but it helped. The staff was much more responsive and courteous after the confrontation and after speaking with the floor director. read more

I wouldn't take my dog to thos emergency room. Active heart attack.. wait in the lobby for 7 hours and they won't even give you aspirin. Complete leg amputation with open wound in severe pain.. wait in the lobby for 3 hours until you leave ama because no one has been called back in that 3 hour time span. You will get nothing accomplished here. One star for this emergency department is really way too many stars. ​ read more

The RNs who were on duty were great, and the front desk person was good. However, the Dr staff's lack of interest in thoroughly investigating my husband's complaint was frustrating. Because of our PCP's suggestion of a possible hernia, they focused solely on this diagnosis. After a CT scan, the doctor simply stated, 'We don't know why he has pain on the right side of his abdomen,' and recommended a surgeon we had never heard of. This lack of clear communication and transparency is why we are now headed to UAMS. Depending on their findings, we may file a formal complaint. We suspect it could be his hip replacement failing. The unnecessary referral process, when you have regular Medicare and don't need one for specialists, seems to be a tactic to keep the money within Unity Group. I had a friend who worked here was a pca, constantly she would tell me how she didn't want to sit in rooms with violent patients. But these people did not care about their workers well being and my friend was 6 months pregnant...so think again when you decide to apply for a nursing gig here. read more

I was admitted to the emergency room having severe upper right abdominal pain, which already had the idea of it being my gallbladder. Once in the Er the doctor ran test and came the the conclusion that it was definitely my gallbladder and I had the choice to either go home and find a outpatient clinic or I could be admitted to the hospital and speak with a surgeon that next morning. So I chose to be admitted, I spoke with 1 doctor and 3 residents for the floor I was going to 3 south. At first they was in agreement my gallbladder needed out. That next morning Dr. Mohsin Altaf entered my room with a completely different attitude and informed me that the surgeon was never going to come visit me like I was told the night before, he stated he wanted to send me home with a few pain pills and I find a different outpatient clinic to go to and wait to be seen. I was very persistent about seeing the surgeon then Dr. Mohsin altaf sat at the foot of my bed and informed me that I wasn't as sick as I thought, that I was fine and insinuated I was there for "pain management" (just there for pain pills) which was far from the case. He then proceeded to circle his hand in from of me saying "I can tell you now the surgeon will NOT entertain this at all!" Then I said I don't care I want to speak to the surgeon. He said "okay I can put the order in but he's very busy so he's probably not going to come" we was absolutely SHOCKED with his behavior and poor attitude. The surgeon did come visit and agreed immediately my gallbladder needed out asap! So we scheduled it for the very next day to have it removed. Just a hour or so before my surgery Dr Mohsin Altaf entered my room and the first thing he said was "ahh I see you finally talked the surgical team into giving you that surgery huh?" Me and my husband are absolutely disgusted with his behavior and how he treated me like I was some junkie looking for pills instead of a mother of 3 who needed emergency surgery to save her life, because if he would have turned me away the surgeon said him self I wouldn't have made it much longer, that my gallbladder was 2 times its size and had well over 200 gallstones in it, it was about to rupture! read more

If you are sick and can go to Baptist or Saint Vincent you will get much better treatment. The ER is under staffed, they need more than one ER doctor to see patients. The health care seems to be declining instead of getting better. The other problem with Unity is information exchange between other hosptials. My wifes doctors are near Baptist. We learned a lesson the hard way when she went to their ER. Never again will we set foot in any Unity hosptial. read more

My son received excellent care through cardiac services. ER care was flawless. Went to observation unit and due to diligent nursing care was then admitted to cardiac services. High praise for this hospiail from a 35+ year nurse with critical care background. read more

I came by ambulance. I fell and broke my femur up close to hip in 3 places. took a bit to finally get any pain meds. had surgery next day which was great. a couple of nurses day shift were extremely rude and were being very confrontational. I asked for another nurse. the call light does seem to take awhile for someone to come. I had to do my own bed bath ( what?) didn't get a new gown for 3 days. PT said anyone lifting me or trying to get me to the potty had to use a gait belt. one nurse refused. I informed the PT lady and she had a good talking to them. lawsuit looking to happen if I had fallen inpatient. food is HORRIBLE. I had to pick and choose between pudding and veggies mostly. no one seemed to listen. I had 2 amazing night nurses for one night. the rest seemed like they just sat at the desk and gossiped. I try to be very nice to them. the one nurse couldn't put in my IV. I do have bad veins. she finally got the one that is great and she got in in one stick. oh also in ER when I had a pain level of 9-10 I was yelling yes. it hurt badly. one worker in the supply closet actually told me to shush a few times. I lost it and said mam I'll trade you for a half hour and see if you can shush. Unity is going broke. go figure and will more than likely be closed or bought out within the year. I had no choice where to go. unless I'm dying I'll ask the paramedics to take me to St V north or Little Rock. I will hopefully never have to step foot in this place again. I could keep going but I'll keep it nice please do everything possible to not become a patient here. read more

Took my wife in for pain that I supposed to be Appendix April 6, 2023. Emergency room quickly ran multiple tests, confirmed it was her appendix, and in a matter of hours she was in Pre-Op being prepared for surgery. The staff was exceptionally caring and supportive, in preop the care was great, they directed to family to the proper place to have the doctor come out when finished. I cannot say enough good about the care and support all have shown. All of the staff and doctors were great, she was in there for some time due to it had leaked. While the nurses who tended to my 71 year old mother were kind, compassionate, and respectful, the two doctors we saw were rude, condescending, fear mongering and completely unconcerned with my mother's actual health. They attempted to intimidate my father, sister, and I into accepting their diagnosis (which turned out to be completely wrong). One asked me why I had an attitude when I asked (after 6 hours) how long an antibiotic IV would take, so we could take my exhausted parents home. If they had actually listened to what we said in the beginning, we could have had them home in half the time. read more

My daughter went in at 8am IN A WHEELCHAIR in tears because she thought her hip was dislocated, and TEN people were seen before her, most of which WALKED IN on their own AFTER she came in! She waited FIVE hours, and all you did was X-rays. She didn't even make it back to a room because they don't use HALF of your rooms before noon! This is ridiculous! From now on, I would rather drive to Little Rock than ever set foot in this hospital again! Have been sitting in emergency room since 11:00 pm last night. My husband has kidney stones. Told they would admit him still waiting on room at 11:00 am. All these nurses and drs care about is hooping and hollaring. They do not check in like they should. Other patients on gurneys in hallways patients waiting 7 to 8 hours before being called to see dr. I use to think they were a great hospital but not anymore. They to have forgotten about caring for the patients and their needs. All they care about is the money that they charge you. So three days ago I fell and injured my leg. Upon arriving to the hospital my pain level was a 7 out of 10. It took over 3 hours to be seen-which led to a misdiagnosis that I was fine. It took the er staff 3 days to correctly diagnose a fracture. Further injury was caused by this misfortune. The conditions of the rooms were unsanitary. The hospital staff wore leggings. Rules that I know should be imperative are completely ignored. This ER is horrible. Unless you absolutely have to go anywhere else. read more

I've visited this hospital for the last time. I went in to the emergency room last night because I was having trouble breathing. It took about 20 minutes for the triage nurse to take me back to get my vitals and asked me what was going on. I told her and she told me that she thought I needed a chest x-ray and also a Covid and flu test. She did the Covid and flu test right away and then sent me back out into the waiting room. About an hour later a nurse came out and called my name she took me to a filthy Little partitioned room and informed me that she would be drawing blood. I'm still not sure why they did this, no one told me why and even the nurse that did it couldn't tell me exactly what they were looking for. I wish I would have taken a picture of this room, there was trash on the floor, old cotton balls and tape. Disgusting! Then The triage nurse came back out and asked if I had had my chest x-ray yet, I told her no. She said that they told her that they had called my name and I wasn't there. They must have whispered it because I was there. After another hour of waiting I decided to go back home and ride it out until I could go to my regular doctor the next morning. I went to the front desk told them that I was leaving and they had me fill out a paper. Before I left I asked if someone would call me with the results of my flu and Covid test which they assured me they would. Now it is the next morning and I have had no calls, so I call them myself. Over the phone I was informed that when you leave without treatment you must go through medical records to get your test results. This place is a disaster. read more

From the ER standpoint. This hospital is nothing but disappointing. There is no connect to customer care. And patient care should not be started until in a room or er bay. Not in the waiting room. Witnessing a blood draw is not top on my list of things I wanted to do. Completely disappointed. read more

The staff at this hospital do not have your best interest in their heart. This place is more like a prison than a place of healing. There was a "miscommunication" about my wife's medicine. This caused her condition to worsen, and in turn another 48 hours had to be spent at the hospital. The staff didn't care or apologize. They want your money and beyond that prepare to be treated like a prisoner, not a patient. read more

Unity health emergency room refused to see my wife who has a serious infection after they had already scheduled an appointment for her today during lunch time. They kept pushing her to the side, when i asked the ladies at the counter when the doctor would be able to see her they refused to tell us when we would expect to be seen. Then they started talking about my wife disrespectfully and acting like they did not even want to treat her at all. They treated her like she had the plague. I just leave from my last visit ever to this god forsaken place. I begged for hours for something for nausea and gave up and left. When I walked past the nurses station, they were like "hold on, I have your discharge papers ready. Discharge for what? They didn't do anything. The place is a joke! They wear way too much perfume and I'm severely allergic, the get angry when you mention that. I happen to know they aren't even supposed to be wearing it. read more

My 61 year old mother had a heart attack on Saturday and was brought to your hospital. Your doctor's did surgery and put 2 stents in and sent her home that following Monday. By Friday afternoon of the same week she is pronounced dead. As I'm sure you can tell, I'm extremely upset at losing my mother. I'm sure the 'wonderful' doctors who worked on my mother will not even bat an eye and will still collect her money they definitely do NOT deserve. read more

Our family took our loved one to Unity Health ER in June 2020 with numbness on one side of his body and face, thinking he probably was having stroke symptoms. I am disappointed in the care he received in two main areas. First, after triage he was put in the waiting room back in a corner where no one was monitoring him. There were probably 5 other people in the waiting room. Of course no family was allowed to be with him because of Covid-19. When I tried to speak with one of the ER personal to voice my concern that no one would know if he had another episode that we believed were mini strokes, I was dismissed and told he was stable and was ok. I don't think this should be standard practice for a stroke patient. Second, three different family members called for updates. We were told that we would get a call back with an update soon. We NEVER got a call back! We waited on the parking lot for 6 hours with NO communication from Unity Health. He was admitted to the hospital. The next day he was dismissed and we made an appointment with a doctor in Little Rock where it was determined that our loved one had 2 mini strokes and is scheduled for surgery. I am disappointed that I cannot depend on my hometown hospital for medical care. read more
