"Scamming people in need"…read more This church apparently is connected to what claims to be a non profit where people can donate and purchase vehicles. After two days of being jerked around by them and 200 dollar inspection I offered to purchase the vehicles without consideration of the 2,800 dollar repairs needed reported by Subaru, ( which included a timing belt at the kelly blue book) private party listing price due to the absorbent repair cost . If it hadn't been for Subaru shifting appointments the people responsible for selling the car made it extremely difficult to get it scheduled for pre-sale inspection. All things considered what really upset me was that the response was given by those representing the church is that they demand dealership value. This is a non-for profit and I quickly reminded them. Expecting dealership value on a car needing repairs, because, you as a church representing a nonprofit organization, is pretty crazy. I wouldn't donate your vehicles to this church. They didn't offer any solutions and were okay not helping a single mom in the purchase of a reliable vehicle to see her daughter in.

We had three places to choose from for our wedding and Christ Church was by far the best place imaginable! Nilo and I never dreamed of having a church wedding. We have been together in a committed same sex relationship for 19 years. When the law prohibiting same sex marriage was toppled in June 2013, we knew immediately we wanted to marry in Sausalito as it was the site of one of our first dates back in 1995 and figured prominently in our lives since then. While looking for a venue, we stumbled on Campbell Hall using a Google search. I sent an e-mail to the address listed inquiring about the Hall and within minutes received a response from the rector, Father Chip Larrimore, saying that not only could we use the Hall, we could be married in Christ Church and he would be honored to perform the ceremony. I was floored. Nilo and I, both Catholics, stopped going to Church some years ago. We had no idea the Episcopal Church was so accepting and welcoming. We went to see this incredibly beautiful church last July (2013) and met Father Chip. We knew as soon as we walked in that we would marry there and booked the date for July 4, 2014. We also started attending this beautiful church built in 1882 and became members in January 2014. Neither Nilo nor I had ever experienced such a welcoming community in our lives. We live in South Hayward and drive 57 miles every Sunday to attend Mass there with our new "faith family". While some of the reviewers listed "cons" along with their "pros", I have no "cons" to mention. Everything was incredible. While parking is limited, we hired a shuttle service which was quite reasonable to bring our guests up to the church and take them back. Pure Luxury was the service and they did a wonderful job. It took all the stress out of parking for our guests and they all had a great time on the short ride up the hill. Our reception was held at the Spinnaker Restaurant in Sausalito. Guests parked at Spinnaker and were shuttled to and from the church from there. We used Campbell Hall for lunch for our wedding party and for a short cocktail hour immediately following the wedding before our reception began. The Garden, which is adjacent to the Campbell Hall and across the street from the Church, is so beautiful and the best of our wedding photos were taken there. The entire wedding was everything I dreamed it would be and more. I am attaching some photos of the church and our wedding day there. We moved to Sausalito from the San Francisco Marina and almost by accident dropped into an event at…read morethe church hall were we found the congregation celebrating Shrove Tuesday with pancakes. The next Sunday we attended the 8am service and realized that we had found our home. Its been over eight years now, things have changed as they always do but the love of God and the love of each other in the congregation and of Fr. Chip is always present. Its also a fun church! As many smiles and as much laughter as there is quiet prayer and reflection. Fr Chip's sermons are core to our worship. They are of great interest and so often leave you will a very simple message, one that is subtle in the context of the message or story but also one that is easy to take away and to keep for days and maybe longer. If you live in Sausalito or are new in town, come along, I think you will be surprised at how easy it is to sit quietly and to enjoy worship and the gentle fellowship of others. The church's motto is "all are welcome" We truly felt and still feel so very welcomed.

As a life-long spiritual seeker and religious skeptic, I'm surprised by how much I appreciate this…read morechurch. Yes, they're Christians (a tough one to pull off in Fairfax). At the same time, they're affiliated with the United Church of Christ denomination (arguably the most liberal religious Christians along the spectrum). The services are very welcoming and it shows in the way the pastor engages in dialogue after her sermon (a very rare thing to find in church), not to mention referring to Jesus as that "Middle Eastern Mystic". Also, I've never known a pastor who teaches aerial. It's really cool to end a service with a nine-year-old swinging on a trapeze to captivating music! The sanctuary space is also stunningly beautiful with incredible paintings throughout. No wonder the Ecstatic Dance group uses it on Friday nights! I think a lot of people in Marin could benefit from attending this church. What I appreciate most is the balance between contemplative practices and fun, engaging services. They get humility and forgiveness in way I wish other churches and traditions did - a good reason to keep coming back.

In the church (by the way, it's not all churchy with a big Jesus or anything, just more of a spiritual room), we all sat in a circle and shared stories about Jenna (my aunt) and the pastor did a great job letting us create our ceremony, while at the same time guiding it and giving her words or wisdom and spirituality. It was exactly how Jena would have wanted it. After the ceremony, we gathered outside the church in an outside courtyard area with tables that are surrounded by trees. It was very nice and perfect for our situation. We ate, laughed, cried, chatted, and shared memories of Jenna. This was a great place for our memorial party.

We stream it to the TV in the living room and participate with the service as a family (while the wife and I often also follow along on our phones to be able to join the chat with the leaders and other viewers - you don't realize how much you miss socializing until you get a chance to do it!). This is why I am in Marin…read more In spirit, anyway. It's just across the Golden Gate Bridge, a 15-minute drive. On Sundays at 10:00 am the celebration is usually at the Corte Madera Recreation Center, on Tamalpais Drive just west of Highway 101. During the week, classes are held around 6:30 pm in the learning center at 199 Greenfield Avenue, in San Rafael. That's just off 4th Street right before the San Anselmo border. I'm learning to ride Golden Gate Transit, to check out cars from City CarShare, and to ask for rides from my colleagues. On weekends My Lady will either check out a City CarShare car or rent a car from Enterprise or Alamo. Why do we do this? Because there is a wonderful atmosphere in Marin County. People are peaceful here. The air is fresh and the sky is blue. The sun is warm, and there are plenty of sun dresses, shorts, and bicycles. The services at GGCSL are well worth attending, too. The music is fresh, the minister, Rev. Karyl, is inspiring, and the congregation is welcoming. The theme is offering "practical spiritual tools to transform your life and help make the world a better place." It's a great contrast to the cold and fog of the Richmond District, that's for sure.
