They were extremely strict on what/how much you could have. Not a terribly lot of food and once the last table was called to eat, the staff immediately closed the doors to the food area. There seemed to be an abundance of food left but shut er down. Wonder what they did with all the left overs Anyway. I personally had just enough as I prefer to drink my calories but most at my table were still hungry.

Ruined Our Wedding!!…read more My wife and I got married on September 28, 2024, and we wish we had taken our money elsewhere. Russ will sweet talk you into choosing this place. Yes, it's nice and can be breathtaking, but the problem lies within the customer service on the day of the wedding. We had family and friends come from out of town to attend our wedding, some of whom had never been to Kansas City before, which made us feel very special. The night before the wedding, Russ called and informed my wife that we were over our guest list limit and needed to make an additional list of the people we really wanted to attend. My wife was up all night crying out of frustration because this was very last minute, and some people were going to be upset. The wedding day was a horrible experience! First, Russ's assistant (whose name I can't remember) was the worst! She's black. I believe she's racist against her own kind. She stirred up trouble the whole time, accusing the wedding party of smoking weed on the property. Keep in mind, weed is 100% legal, and if someone smoked it before arriving, it's their business. Second, there were no lights in the groomsmen's section due to a storm prior. When we asked if we could get a light to shave or whatever, Russ's assistant was very rude and even got mouthy with my groomsman, who showed her nothing but respect by saying "Ma'am" and "Please." Even after she was done chewing out my groomsmen over the light, she walked away, then turned back to finish chewing us out, informing us that certain things "were not her job." Her attitude eventually rubbed off on Russ, and he started talking to me like I was just a thug off the street, despite the fact that I had paid over $10k for this venue. Third, they started trying to do crowd control with our guest list by refusing to let our family and friends in. Some had traveled from out of state and could not get in because Russ's assistant didn't use the list we stayed up all night creating. Instead, she passed the list to our daughter (who doesn't work for the company and wasn't present) to retype, which resulted in a number of people being removed. They let all the older people in (50+) and told anyone who looked young that they weren't on the list, even though they were. Then there were the pictures. It took about 45 minutes to get the lights working outside for our pictures. Because they didn't let our younger family members in, a lot of older people had left before the reception even began, leaving us with a semi-empty room. My only wedding! My lifetime memory ruined by poor customer service and micromanagement. DO NOT USE THEM!! PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!

I hold the owners of this "business" completely responsible for ruining what was supposed to be a…read morespecial day. To start with I was told that there would be handicapped accessible bathrooms available and there was not. I had family members that were not able to stay because they were not able to access a bathroom. We were told there is plenty of power to run the roasters and what not throughout the evening. That was not the case at all. After having to agree to pay $100 to have fans put up to use, they couldn't be turned on because it blew all the breakers. Now on to your $1000 damage deposit. While I do understand the reason for having that deposit, what you have considered damage is absolutely ridiculous. A few kids picked some flowers and that gives you the right to say that we now owe you a certain amount of money. I think not! And to think you can charge me because of said handicapped family needing to pull closer (on a driveway that was already there) is just wrong. I hope you never have family that needs a little closer drop off somewhere and are told sorry we're gonna charge you $500 to do so. Then to even consider that, in the men's bathroom there was people purposely peeing on the walls! That is just plain absurd! What else is there, oh yes the Adirondack chairs that you claim were destroyed because of being moved around. Then why do you even have the chairs if you expect them to never be moved? You have also claimed that there were rocks that were destroyed. They are rocks and you seem to think that they are worth a couple hundred dollars, are out of your mind. Lastly and even more important than the handicapped accessible parking and restrooms was the fact that you actually saw no problem with getting into altercations with our family and guests! I hope that at some point you have to deal with the embarrassment that you caused me and my husband. If this is to be your business, I promise to make it my goal to see that you have no business!

We were thrilled with the availability of items we could use to decorate for the wedding and the event turned out beautifully. This is a beautiful site for any special event. I would and will recommend this site to anyone who is looking for a venue for a special event.

Since then, she has stopped responding completely and my mother has been waiting to host a "pending cancellation" date for my father's celebration of life for over 3 weeks now. My father passed away from cancer, and Alex said she's not going to pressure the bride of the cancelled wedding bc she was recently diagnosed with cancer. I can fully respect that, however we only need the venue bc of the same reason, except it was a cancer death. I'm very disappointed with Alex's lack of professionalism, communication and overall her inability to manage multiple clients at once. In my honest opinion, having planned many events in my life, she cares more about the additional money a wedding would bring in, than actually providing fair and equitable customer service to her clients. Very disappointed. House venue is also smalls, old, outdated and very choppy small rooms. Outdoor venue is beautiful, but only in decent weather.

The five-course meal, crafted by a remarkably talented chef using a variety of techniques from their farm, was beautifully executed in a surreal indoor-outdoor setting. Every dish was spectacular, and the beverage pairings were creative and perfectly curated. We arrived on the farm (after our Ford GPS took us a wonky route along a few miles of dirt road--so make sure you stay on paved roads and you won't have trouble--I was told by Kristin, our host and one of the owners, that Google Maps has no problem). I have to share our experience in detail because I feel we discovered a new must-visit experience in the KC area! We arrived at the 30-acre farm, parked in the field, and were greeted by our server who welcomed us warmly and offered us an arrival cocktail to sip while we explored the truly lovely grounds, pond, and nearby goats. After our leisurely stroll, we returned to the dining pavilion and found our seats at the gorgeous (and massive!) live-edge dining table along with a menu specifically for this weekend. Our gracious host Kristen and server brought out our first drink pairing, a minted lime seltzer that was refreshing and light. Our first course arrived--Blue Jade cornbread with arugula, sweet pea salad, and chicken liver paté. The cornbread was unlike any I had before and was absolutely delicious. The sweet pea salad was literally bursting with flavor the peas were so fresh and the chicken liver paté out of this world. Such an interesting flavor profile and combination. The next beverage pairing arrived a short time later as we enjoyed the perfect evening, a blackberry purple basil shrub. This drink was also delicious and refreshing (and save that blackberry for last--what a treat!). The Mangalista pig, we were told, is the "wagyu of pork" and the crisp, tasty, marbled pork chop was excellent. It was served with a beet "kimchi" with fennel root and a sheep cheese dumpling that was creamy and flavorful. Finally, our coffees were served and a dessert of yellow squash cake, lemon honey ice cream with mulberry compote was brought to us. Again, the dish was original, delicious, and a perfect ending to our meal. We can't wait to come back and have try a new menu in the future. Such a perfect evening and the chef has such an exciting vision for hyper-local farm-to-table flavors and dishes.
