Dr.Laplante saw my daughter for back and neck pain this morning. She's very upset. Doctor didnt listen to her concerns brushed her off, dismissed what she had to say, sent her away with a prescription. Was unprofessional, Not compassionate, won't go back. Will be spending my hard earned money elsewhere. Appointment times were changed without being notified. Only because I called to confirm the appointment time, did I learn the time had changed. Went for a steroid injection in my lower back...BCBS cost estimator put it at $500 or less, but that only covered "professional services" - shame on Unity for not disclosing the amount of the "hospital services" at the time the appointment was scheduled. $2000 for a steroid injection is beyond insanity for 3 minutes of the doctor's time. I have a family member who works at a different pain management clinic, who informed me they charge $1000 for an injection if you have no insurance. So as we humans do, I assumed it can't be more than that if I have insurance - $2000 with insurance is disgusting. Clearly the medical community is trying to capitalize on the well-off, aging, baby boomer population while they still can. For your sake, I hope your experience is better. read more

I think its funny that's there's not one good review. I'm 68 trying old female who has had documented pain issues. Neuromuscular disease, cervical surgery at 40 which continued down my spine till every disc had herniated, spinal stenosis, sciatica. Fibromyalgia, autoimmune problems & i could go on forever. I saw this md with NPA in rm. He treated like a 2 yr old. Also been RN for more years than he was alive. Told me I was pill seeking. Nothing was wrong with me & I needed to go to behavioral health. Some of the names he said regarding my pill problem were names I've never heard, names of md who gave me an epidural yes ago. Lol. So I asked if I could get a xray of rt knee and hip. At my next visit only the nurse was present. Well a whole different treatment was acknowledged. My hip was shot and knee too. Since then I had hip replacement , fell screwed up knee more, lost 2" of bone from hip. I was so mad at that md from unity that I ignored problems. Spent 17 days at RGH after GB ruptured. Can't say anything bad about them or Unity hospital either. That spine clinic gives RRH services a bad name. Wish someone would suggest another md or place to go. read more

I had a MRI of my lumbar spine on 10/9/2029. Then an appt. With Dr Wu on 10/19. She had no answers as to when or what pain relief I would get. Appt. was a waste of time and money.On 11/10/2020 a pain relieving procedure was approved!!!! It took a MONTH to get approval. Excellus has an advocacy program. They called for me and found out I was approved for treatment on 11/10. Spine and Pain did not call me. When I called for appt for spinal epidural on 11/13 I was told they were backed up. These kind of delays cause medical junkies. Opiates are prescribed while you wait to relieve pain while you wait in line. Doesn't the Hippocratic oath say something about " cause no harm". If I was not in this practice now, I would stay away. Short staffed, power hungry, controlling. read more

I have been to the unity spine center for various problems recently. ALL the DRs at this place are MEAN, DISRESPECTFUL,UNCARING. They ALL make you feel so belittled and like a nobody who is imagining their pain, memory loss, etc. They refer you to PsyD. I went home crying today. I may just report them. read more

I have been seeing Dr. LaPlante and his team for a herniated disc. It was easy to get an appointment and the staff helped move along the insurance process so that I could get a small procedure within 2 weeks. The entire team is kind and takes time to answer all of my questions so that I can take responsibility for my follow up care. I would definitely go back if needed and would recommend to friends! read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. My wife was being treated there for back pain. She woke up 2 weeks ago with terrible shooting pains down her legs. Pain was so bad she couldn't walk. Called the spine center. Saw a PA who ordered an MRI. Two weeks later have yet to see a doctor. Had an appointment today but they cancelled at last minute because doctor not available. Had to reschedule. Don't go here. read more

This place is a joke. I made an appointment with a Dr. Wu. Being that I live really far away I called the day of the appointment just to be sure it was still on. First, it took literally 20 min for them to even answer the phone. It just kept ringing and then someone would pick it up and put me immediately back on hold without saying anything. Then when they finally did get on the phone, she said I didn't even have an appointment. Then she corrected herself and said no wait you have an appointment in a different office. Then corrected herself again and said, no that isn't right. Then she put me on hold for another 20 minutes. When she finally came back on she just said this totally different doctor would squeeze me in if I could come right away. Well I couldn't come right away. I still had to get ready and then drive over an hour to get there because my appointment wasn't supposed to be for several hours. She had a total dirty attitude about the whole thing, which was her fault. She said I never had an appointment with Dr. Joanne Wu and that my appointment was with Dr. Laplant which I had never heard of. I asked, "How would I even know that a Dr. Joanne Wu even existed if you people hadn't called me and told me that I had an appointment with her?" She said hey I have no idea. It's not her problem. She's just the messenger. Ok, so then I thought this doesn't sound like a good start so I looked up the reviews for this place. Oh, great. This place sucks. Good thing I found out before wasting my time going. I'm really sick of the horrible health care in the Rochester area, especially if you have medicaid or medicare. The good doctors don't accept these insurances and we are generally just left to die. read more

Unity Spine is the most unprofessional medical practice I've been a patient at. First off, any time I had to call due to a problem with their services, which was about 90% of the time, I had to wait on hold for a minimum 10 minutes(on a good day). One time I was scheduled for an epidural and when I showed up for the appointment, they said they never submitted the request to my insurance, so I had to wait another month, on top of the 2 months I had already been waiting. After several epidurals with minimal success, I asked for alternative options to epidurals. They finally gave me a referral to an acupuncturist who doesn't take my insurance. When I called to tell Unity Spine, they told me they wouldn't see me until I went through with acupuncture and basically ghosted me, refusing to return my calls. As far as medication goes, they rarely sent my office notes to my insurance adjuster along with the prescription, so prescriptions were usually denied. Not being able to take my medication that only works once it's built up in the system is nothing but cruel and unusual punishment, since it could have been easily avoided. I've had mostly horrible experiences with Unity Spine, most of which I didn't write to keep my review from getting too long. I am leaving this review to warn others and help keep them from making the same mistake I did. No one deserves to receive such horrible treatment from unqualified medical "un"professionals, especially when they are in agonizing pain. read more

I took my mother here as she has been having back pain for a long time. She has seen other doctors, and they have given her various kinds of pills. She wanted some non-surgical therapy to help her with her pain. I saw on their website that they had physical therapy, hydro-therapy, etc so I had high hopes for this place. After the first visit, they ordered an MRI. Okay, that's understandable, she hadn't had one of those in awhile. Second visit, they wanted her to schedule a test where they inject a numbing thing into her spine. Not a treatment, just another test. Why should she have to have something with a needle, that isn't even therapy, to get some hydrotherapy? All this took 6 weeks, and she remained in pain. The doctor here was nice (I was at the first appt) but the practice's approach is old-fashioned and slow. We didn't go back, and I wouldn't recommend the practice to anyone. read more
