I made an appointment with Regional Health and was assigned Dr. Celso Dios. He is a good Vascular surgeon. He looked at mine and determined I should have surgery in my right leg. One of the important things regarding this surgery is blood circulation. Got to keep the blood running, no clotting. My total surgery lasted approximately 1 hour. Dr. Dios removed a total of 25 veins, and sealed off another. From start to finish, with surgery and the healing process, I have no complaints, a good Dr., Specialist,I highly recommend him.

First let me say I have never had major surgery so I was pretty nervous and scared of the unknown. My surgery lasted about 45mins for the VSG procedure. I woke up pretty out of it and I remember asking "oh did I have the surgery yet?" My mouth was extremely dry. And I was not allowed to have any fluids after the surgery. So the nurse dipped a sponge on a stick in ice water and told me I could bite on the sponge. It sounds like hell...but those little trickles of ice cold water were like heaven! I didn't have any immediate pain waking up because I think the pain meds were still working. After about 30mins of the nurse giving me the sponge soaked water in my mouth, and helping me to cough by applying pressure to my abdomen area to limit the pain. (It was excruciating to cough) I was moved from recovery to my room. There I met one of the first nurses who would take care of me. She was probably the best nurse in the world and I do not exagerate. In fact all the nurses who took care of me post surgery were great. It's why I wanted to write this review. I was in lots of pain from one of the 3 incisions I had from surgery. which I would later come to find out is normal because it's the incision where they pull out a portion of my stomach. I was given Morphine and Dilaudid. Whenever I pressed the call button someone would come and help me. Everyone was caring and compassionate. It can be pretty embarrassing having to have a catheter inserted, or wearing nothing but your gown and having to expose yourself so they can give you shots...this what separates the good nurses from the great nurses...making a patient feel dignified. Which the nurses who cared for me at highland hospital for sure did during my entire stay. 5 stars!

From my pre-examination visit, a couple of phone calls prior to surgery, and on the day of surgery, it was a calm atmosphere. No one likes to go to the hospital if you know what I mean, it's human nature. So when you do go, it's nice to feel comfortable. One thing that impressed me on the day of my surgery, was when my friend dropped me off, I waited at the entrance while he parked,a gentlemen came up and greeted me. He asked if he could help me. He was a volunteer I believe, a nice touch for Highland! Anyways from there we went to registration, I got processed, my friend left. Not long after that, a medical tech came and got me. She took me downstairs to the OR and explained things to me. Then 2 other techs came in and helped me get prepped. They were all super people and wasted no time. Then when my time came up to go in for surgery, there was a delay, ugh!!! My doctor had an emergency which needed his immediate attention. I was held up for about an hour and a half or so. But, all the people of the OR checked on me and made sure I was ok. Then it was my time,they wheeled me in and took care of business. I was on my way home not long after that. In and out the same day. :) My hat goes off to Highland Hospital and the people who took care of me!

After about five months it was back. Next up was surgery. I was nervous about this procedure but Dr Fink and his wonderful team were very patient and explained every step. The day of surgery was stress free. Every step the staff was so kind and professional. I felt so at ease. It's been eight weeks since my surgery and my wrist feels fine, a small scar remains.

There's a reason. My ear has been plugged since December 11th. My primary said I should go to an ENT. When I called for an appointment, I specifically said that my ear is plugged, at one point perforated ear drum that had drained a bit but was still plugged. Was told I had to have a hearing test first, why you ask? Because you said you have hearing loss. Doh, my ear is plugged, I also have tinatus which is much louder now, I just want my ear unplugged. Must have hearing test first, it's protocol. So I go, why are you here? Plugged ear. Audiologist, why are you here? Plugged ear, they told me I had to have a hearing test first, all I want is my ear unplugged. Test done, she starts to explain the results and I tell her I really don't care, all I want is my ear unplugged. See the quack who starts to explain the test results and I tell him, don't really care, I just want my ear unplugged. Looks in my ear, yes the perforation has healed. I tell him I've even done the plug your nose and blow to try and unplug it. Well keep on doing that. I looked at him and said that's it? Yup. Grabbed my purse and walked out. He sent a letter to my primary letting him know that I'll be following up with him, not a snowball's chance in hell. Avoid this place. Waste of time and money

We checked in, and the process was smooth and comforting. When you walk in, the smell of old cigarettes slaps you in the face, but other than that, the waiting room is serene and clean. We waited a little, then the nurse called my friends name and didn't say anything to me. This was her first major surgery, so she was naturally a bit nervous. They started prepping her for surgery and both of us were left wondering when we were going to say "goodbye" or even just a clarification of what was happening. The nurse only came out to tell me my friend needed help with something. Turns out, she needed to take off all her earrings before surgery, which was not communicated to us at anytime before arriving. The earrings had been put on by the piercer at the jewelry shop and were very difficult to take off. After about 20 minutes, we pried the earrings off. It definitely would have been more painless and less difficult to have been notified earlier. After the earring debacle, I just stayed with her in the prep room while the IV was places and other various prepping procedures were administered. We then had the chance to say goodbye before the actual surgery. All in all, the experience was quite nice. The staff and the nurses were very pleasant!! Would definitely recommend.

There was a small calcium build up but no surgery needed. The pain came and went. At 1 point it was gone for a good month or so. But then it came back. And it came to stay. Very uncomfortable first thing in the morning. My Physicians Assistant was Aaron Bishop. A great guy who takes good care of his patients. We discussed the Cortisone shot, I scheduled a date. The best move I ever made. The pain was gone literally over night. Unbelievable, a gift from the heavens. I highly recommend Aaron Bishop of GRO.

We live in a society today where the majority of doctors treat the symptoms and not the underlying issue. Dr. Smith's approach is completely contrary to this. His goal is to find out what precisely is causing your problem and either getting rid of that or treating that, instead of just handing you a prescription and calling it a day. Just in the very first visit alone, he spent 3 hours plus with us. He personally made phone calls to insurance companies, imaging (MRI) businesses, and other necessary places. Have you ever heard of a doctor who does this? He took time out of a Saturday to personally make a trip to an imaging center in order to get my family member a needed MRI that she normally would have had to wait a week or more for. That same Saturday (which most doctors never work) he spent another 3 hours plus with us to go over his diagnosis and provided a remedy to help my family member. Dr. Smith is dedicated to patient centered care and he truly cares about his patients. Any negative things you may see or hear about this doctor are completely false. Why should you weight my review more then others? Because I don't leave reviews but I simply had to let the world know what an amazing doctor he is.
