As I walked my bike down Cornwallis today in search of some new and off my beaten track places to…read morereview, I let out an audible sigh and grumbled to myself: 'Why do developers insist on gentrifying the North End? The brightly coloured homes and funky old shops have so much more going for them than the new pre-fab soulless monstrosities that are cropping up everywhere...' And thus my lament for old Halifax continued until I stopped to read the sign for the Glubes Loft Townhouses! The people behind Glubes are trying to create eco-urban housing in the downtown core! Specifically, they are trying to incorporate: old georgian architectural style (the style of the afore mentioned colourful houses... they even "adaptively reused" huge chunks of the preexisting building in the form of douglas fir beams), insulated and energy efficient technology, a mixture of small and large style units that are stacked specifically with space optimization in mind, therefor taking up less land, insulating shutters, and finally these condos are located in the downtown core! I saw numerous bikes attached to the outer railings of these homes, indicating that people living here are doing away with vehicles in favor of living downtown! The best part of all though is that these units are priced in a fairly reasonable margin for people in their late 20's/early 30's. $130,000 you could not buy most condos for my friends! Overall, I was delighted to see this eco-shift at work in the downtown core of Halifax today! (Can you tell I want to live in a Glube?)

This company is run via tyranny. They will post cheap prices but their buildings are very old. They…read morewill increase your rent every year. During COVID their increased their rent because the prices went up which was the opposite. The good landlords quit their position and the worst of them stayed. They will squeeze much money from you if you are going to stay longer. Interiors of the apartment is old and not maintained. It is usually covered with just paint. You can feel the marks left by the previous tenants. Paint splatters can be found on the flood. Their washer and dryer are old or just recycled parts to keep it running. My daughters clothes has been torn by their machine and will not change them because "its functional". NEVER EVER APPLY HERE. They will put a fake face before you move in. Once you signed the contract they will treat you like crap. They will never resolve any issues you will encounter with the apartment.

The 2 things are working fine, I have been in isolation since April, 2020 as much as possible and am seriously distraught at them demanding entry to do something that does not need to be done. What's almost more shocking is the letter states 8am to 4:30pm, yet the Residential Tenancies Act and Regulations for Nova Scotia states that entry is only allowed between 9am and 9pm. That's not to mention the other things, such as noise levels outside of the building due to large machines (I believe the one is an air exchanger) that has actually been in need of repairs for the better part of 2 years. The fact that the walls are so thin that I have had to resort to wearing headphones to watch TV/Movies. I cannot run the dishwasher and have my PC (in a completely different area of the apartment) on at the same time, who wires major appliance plugs with every day plugs? The pipes in the wall slam whenever you turn a tap off. You are not allowed to have a door open (that clearly has diagrams that it opens all the way), they actually came in and inserted a bolt into the door to remove the feature. They also like to schedule maintenance cleanings, such as dryer vent cleanings, for the entire week leading up to Christmas, with a statement about them coming "sometime this week" (which they also did the week previous to that); this basically meant they could walk in whenever they wanted for 2 full weeks. I highly recommend people stay away from Templeton until they actually come up with safer policies for their tenants. I wish I had another place to move to now, but unfortunately for what they have charged for rent, and the increases, I can't even save enough to get out. For such a cheaply built set of buildings, they sure think they are made of gold. In trying to research more about Covid and any possible changes to tenancy acts, I have also found where the company has taken more initial funds than legally allowed from several student tenants in 2016 in one of their buildings, furthering my thoughts on how much people should avoid this company. I have ALL of the written notices to back all of this up. I learned my lesson from the last apartment I was in.
