After having some issues with the countertop company our GC wanted to use, we decided to try finding our own and went to Richstone, just based on reviews. The first thing that I liked was that the rep in the store - ours was Tina - was actually helpful - helpful in suggesting colors, helpful in providing all kinds of information that no one had provided us with before. It took us months to decide on the stone for the countertop, and she was ever patient and responsive. When we finally chose one, it turned out to be really hard to get - and yet, Richstone managed to get it relatively quickly and way faster than the contractor we'd originally been with had told us it would take. Before the install, we got a proof showing exactly how it would look on the counter (and it did end up looking exactly like the proof). The measurement process was painless, quick, and accurate. Installation was way better than we had even hoped for - they were fast, neat, and the finished product was absolutely perfect. It is the one installation in the whole kitchen that actually went according to plan. So they came when they were supposed to, they did the job they were supposed to do, they did it right, and we love the countertops. Moreover, I felt like Richstone guided us through the process and Tina did a lot of hand-holding that I needed, because honestly all of this is pretty confusing and intimidating for a first-timer. Wish we'd found this company first - could have saved myself a lot of time and stress.

We found some stone that we loved, and Jorge and his folks carefully measured our kitchen, figured out how to handle some tricky spaces in the corner of our cabinets and behind the stove, cut the stone with beautiful bullnose edges, and then installed the stone so that the (kind of dramatic) veining matched in all the important places. Their work was meticulous and beautiful! Jorge communicated well. His team worked within our condominium's guidelines, arrived when they said they would, and finished on time. They should've refunded the client at the time error was reported instead of making the client wait for the money to be returned back to them. And instead of making the client have to prove it was their error, which they still don't believe, they should've come to see it for themselves and pick up the part. They were also late for appointments, making the client have to wait.

When I got no response, I left numerous messages and finally received an email from his assistant indicating " they were cut from two different slabs, but the same lot, even though the color of the stone is not consistent on all of it. Unfortunately, it cannot be fixed. The stone is like that." Not a believable explanation at all. I went to the store a week ago to talk with Florian but he was out. His assistant promised me he would call. No calls from Florian. - Poor workmanship in matching the colors/shading at the seam. - Horrible customer response after installation. We had 4 projects done; 2 exterior doors, master bathroom remodel, and basement insulation repair/replace. With the insulation, we we having issues finding someone to just patch an area that needed it. Everyone we talked to either had a minimum or would do it, Blackwood was willing to just fix what was needed.

We hired this contractor for a $178k project that ballooned to $255k+ due to unauthorized charges,…read morebilling errors (they tried to overbill us by $19,618), and their own mistakes. Workmanship was awful: Carpentry: Misaligned deck, ramp rebuilt 5 times and still wrong. Painting: No primer, paint peeling, splatter on windows, floors, even personal items. Plumbing: Cardboard left in drains (overflow in less than 1 month), pipes left active in attic (burst, collapsed through 3 floors). HVAC: Unauthorized work patched with duct tape, vents left uncovered. Windows: Wrong orders and sizes, one half the promised size. Safety: Ladder left on porch for a year; subs entered house unannounced. Timeline was equally disastrous: promised completion Apr 2024, revised to Oct 2024, finally finished Sept 2025. Multiple inspections failed. Project manager was a poor communicator, and the CEO stopped responding once problems escalated. Masonry and flooring were the only trades done competently. Everything else was systemic incompetence and mismanagement. Their 5-star rating does not reflect reality. Avoid at all costs.
