According to CA Dept of Justice, this place still has an active license to sell travel. And according to the Attorney General, they're still in business. So, I called to book travel for my parents. This was a disaster, at best. I worked with a gal named Marcy over the phone and via email. I laid out most of what I needed over email and confirmed with her over the phone. Response time was anywhere from 4 hours to 48 hours. Best part was, she could recall the flights that I needed, but none of the special accommodations I requested. Come on! That is why most travelers enlist a travel agent...to take care of the little things for them. If it was just about booking flights, I would have gone to cheapoair.com. Needless to say, she ended up telling me to call the airline for her. Is that not her job??? My advice: call one of the bigger agencies over the phone (expedia.com, etc.) to book your travel and get your preferences relayed to the airline/hotel/car rental. Travel agents are becoming a thing of the past, mainly because they've dug their own graves with service like what I've just experienced. read more

They are unreliable, booked my tickets last year, and was cancelled due to the Pandemic, so were promised that we can re-book the tickets anytime of the year, but when I try to re-book my tickets, now they don't respond to the phones or emails, and I've sent them multiple emails and called multiple times, but no answer. read more

Have booked tickets twice so far with this travel agency and it has been a good working experience. They are prompt, the ticket fares are reasonable and comparable, good at last minute bookings and honoring special travel requests. Worked with Bobby Shah before who was very helpful and even was resourceful in getting a refund from an airline. Worked with Aanchal Chopra this time and she was very efficient as well. read more

ouch this was a really bad travel agency. I was referred to by a friends friend, did not check yelp reviews before contacting the agent. I got a quote after more than 24 hours (and 2 reminders from me!) for a decent price, but I had to confirm the same day for the airline was raising prices the next day. Fair enough. I replied within 30 minutes asking what information was needed to confirm. Ha! no response again and none the next day, I finally booked another airline online for a pretty good deal. How busy can these guys get, I thought the primary reason for travel agencies was to provide good service. Silly me. read more

Do not use this travel agency. Pete Patel doesn't know how to respect his clients He yells very loud at you when you don't answer the phone rite away or get back to him immediately. If anything goes wrong he blames the client. We even didn't get to our destination because he forgot to give us our visa to enter India. Of course we were blamed for that. Awful Customer Service... A Travel Agency SHOULD provide customer service, that's their main draw. However, Universal Travels is nothing more than a ticket agent, in my opinion. I had to cut a recent trip short and needed to change my airline ticket while in south east asia. Universal Travels wanted to charge me an extra 200.00 just for contacting the airline and did nothing to help. I ended up going directly to the airline's office and got them to change my flight and it was free!!!! Prices at Universal Travels are also alot more expensive than what you would find online... sites like www.cheapoair.com and www.vayama.com consistantly beat them on any trip I have asked for a quote on. Save yourself some headache and money... DO NOT use Universal Travels in Sacramento. They don't deserve your money or time. read more

It is unfortunate to see that other reviewers had a bad experience here but my experience with Universal was really good ! I was referred to Universal by a friend who had used their services atleast 10 times before and I was not disappointed. I tried booking international tickets online and it was a pain and after several days I gave up and called Universal. I worked with a lady named Unnati and she helped me book a ticket for my parents from India to USA in one hour flat ! This one hour includes my initial phone call, her response which was immediate, me sending across the documents required by fax and the booking of the tickets !! Was looking for a good travel agency for purchasing tickets to India and Universal travel was recommended by my friend. Considering traveling with kids, the requirements were driven by shorter time, less lay over, kid friendly flights, and cost as well. I was lucky to have connected to Shafali Sood; because shes was very proactive in handling this for us; at the same time not being dissuaded by fluctuation in plans including dates. I know she's leaving this place soon; but would give them a 5 star rating purely based on her excellent service. I imagine that the rest of the personnel are going to be good as well. read more

This place isn't even worth 1 star. This travel agency had booked my flight reservation under my married name and not my maiden name which is on my passport. They did not book the flight with my passport copy, which they also never requested, but only based off of what they assumed. (My in-laws went to the agency, not myself). I had contacted this agent as soon as I found out and they told me it will take a 2-3 days to sort out. Of course, any help was fine so I waited. They didn't contact me until 2 weeks later and stated that I had to wire $180 right away to a wells fargo bank online before "3:00 pm", ehm? No. I rather give you the money but $180 was a lot of money so I told them no and that I would rather apply for a new passport. She did not care, so I assumed she understood. Here's the catch, she did not tell me that in order to fly out of country, especially to Fiji, and you must have a valid passport 3-6 months PRIOR the visit. How did she not know, she's a travel agent? I was so disappointed to find out last minute, so I contacted Fiji Airways directly and told them my situation. Fiji airways explained that they have a contract with the agency and they were unable to make any changes without them, but what made matters worse, the fee is actually $130 and NOT $180. I called the travel agency and told "Aanchal Chopra" who then said she can't help me, it is too late and I should've paid when given the chance because now it will be "more than $180"!!LIES!! I told her that I spoke to Fiji Airways directly, she had nothing to say and then tried to use the excuse that "I'm a customer" so it's different for me. I then told her that Fiji airways said they will allow me to do a conference call with her so it wouldn't allow any type of issue and she had no idea what to say and hung up. I can't believe she gave me not only MISEADING advice but then also tried to charge me more for the fee then the original price and then had the audacity to say she'll have to charge me more since my trip was next month and that she would have to do extra work. Seriously, all it took me was one call. Long story short, Fiji Airways understood my dilemma and helped me so I wouldn't have to deal with these rude travel agents. So here's a tip- don't go here unless you want poor service from lazy employees. read more

Very friendly staff and service. I understands that sometimes they have to work on stressful situation because public wants everything right away but staff keeps their calm. Whenever I travel to international destination that need special itenrary I always looks towards universal travels. Ticket prices are comparable or lower then airline websites. We have used this agency for many years but have recently been extremely disappointed by their service. They were outright rude and overcharged us by over $200 per ticket for a recent international trip. When we politely asked them why they had charged us more than the fares available on other internet travel sites for the exact same flight, Ms. Neela responded by saying she was giving us 15 minutes to look elsewhere for a ticket and asked why we had written to her on Christmas Eve!! Total lack of customer service and lack of professional communication. Instead of explaining why she overcharged us, she gave us 15 minutes from the time she sent an email to cancel our reservation! I still don't get what Christmas Eve had to do with our question! It just proved that she had no justification for overcharging us. I'm surprised they are still in business. Do yourself a favor and check on other Internet travel sites for better airfares. read more

We have used this agency for many years but have recently been extremely disappointed by the service that was given by Aanchal Chopra. When my credit card was not charged, I decided to call them and, come to find out, they never issued my ticket. Apparently Anachal no longer had the credit card information originally provided, and instead of just asking for it again, did nothing. When I finally made contact with our agent and expressed that I needed this ticket to be purchased I was informed the price had gone up by $200.00. I was incredibly disappointed by this expensive error, however as the ticket needed to be purchased I gave the approval. I wrote an email to Anachal's manager to express my genuine disappointment with the entire experience and what I received was quite possibly the rudest form of communication I have ever encountered in a business interaction. Several words were completely capitalized, to convey yelling, and other sentences were written in large bold text for forceful emphasis. So...this agent made an error that cost me a significant amount of money, was terrible at maintaining communication, and then when I decided to escalate the issue to the manager I was belittled and ridiculed. I won't be booking travel through this site again and I wouldn't recommend anyone else does either. read more
