Regus Illinois Hyde Park

Regus Illinois Hyde Park

Hyde Park

Regus started in the 90's to help the travelling business person so they wouldn't have to work…read moreexclusively out of hotels and coffee shops. The Regus way is offering prime office locations and this location centrally located in Hyde Park is great! Right near lots of shops, restaurants and the new Whole Foods. Fully furnished and attractively at that - nice modern yet comfy space; and now all the values of fostering collaborative and creative efforts are achievable. Besides a set office space there are large meeting rooms that can be reserved as well as a large eating area with three large communal tables. You can also rent an office space for a few hours instead of monthly or long-term, heck even virtually so you have a business address. There is a receptionist front and center to assist you or people coming to your office. University Chicago has all of the prime offices with widow views of lovely Hyde Park. The only down side is that getting Wi-Fi access is the absolute worst and after lunch it doesn't appear staff tends to the trash in the kitchen as it seems to be overflowing when we have our late day meetings (4pm and after). Prices look very reasonable so if you are looking for a meeting space this would be a great go to.

Regus is a pretty good corporation, but this location is a little boring. There is no parking…read more You get charged a lot for the drinks. Membership is more than $200 and does not include beverages. The people are nice. It seems like a better temporary office than permanent work solution.

Pilsen

THE PROBLEM WITH GENTRIFICATION!…read more I set up an appointment to check out their available offices for rent. Mind you, this place is in PILSEN, a culturally diverse area that is known for its rich Mexican heritage. Well...I get there and the receptionist clearly does not know anything about pricing. She first tells me pricing is not her thing, then she says something about a credit check...I should have picked up on where she was going then...THEN she says something about it being negotiable. Turns out, the guy I was supposed to meet with, Patrick, didn't even make himself available to meet with me during my scheduled appointment to answer my questions. Then, Patrick comes in, doesn't say hello, doesn't even make eye contact but the receptionist tells me he'll be with me in a minute. So, after about 5 minutes he comes in and asks me what I do. I tell him I'm a psychotherapist...he doesn't seem to have a CLUE what that is, neither did the receptionist. I explain..."I'm a licensed clinical professional counselor. I see clients for depression and anxiety...blah blah blah". He says he still doesn't understand AND he's worried about safety! SAFETY?! He then goes on to tell me that the other tenants need to be comfortable and that tenants have access to the entire floor (kitchen, waiting room, etc.) so he's "concerned" about who will be coming in for appointments. Hmmmm.... I try to explain again...this time at a kindergarten level. I try the term "couples counseling"...he gets it. FINALLY! But, then he goes back to the safety issue. Hmmmm...THEN....THEN he goes into.."I'll have to run your credit"...of course...duh! I simply said, "Patrick, I have great credit". I thanked him, shook his hand, and got the F outta there! Now, as a black woman, I'm used to this kind of tom foolery but I would expect that in the heart of downtown NOT in Pilsen. I'm a professional...TREAT ME LIKE A PROFESSIONAL! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS SPOT. Not to mention the people that I did see renting space there WERE ALL WHITE....NO DIVERSITY. THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH GENTRIFICATION PEOPLE. SO SAD!

LUXURY AT HALF THE COST…read more I am a Hispanic female licensed real estate broker, and I am a tenant at Lobi space. My partner and I have shared a suite at Lobi for almost seven months and our experience has been excellent from the very beginning. When we first met Patrick the on site property manager and his partner Bernard we knew we were in the right place. Their professional, friendly, approachable, welcoming and in our case accommodating to the smallest detail. For example, neither my partner or I are the most tech savvy people and we can at times be "needy" when it comes to assistance with our tech issues. Both Patrick and Bernard have always come to our rescue when we have our tech meltdowns. Mind you their property managers, not IT guys or crisis prevention staff. I can't emphasize enough what helpful, kind gentlemen they are. They not only accommodate all the Lobi tenants like this but they go out of their way to create a family friendly, safe, and pleasant work environment for all. Meanwhile giving us the most beautiful space to work out of, we love showing off our office and the Lobi space to our clients. Lobi space is a perfect refection of the Pilsen neighborhood, in fact it is adorned with art work by local Pilsen artists. Additionally, their admin assistant Kathy has been a God sent since she came on board. She is right in sync with Patrick & Bernard's philosophy of creating a comfortable yet professional work space. Every client I've had come in comments on how friendly and accommodating she is. Lastly if your looking for a professional, chic, affordable, friendly and DIVERSE office space where the majority of the Lobi tenants are MINORITY OWNED BUSINESSES come visit our space. I guarantee you'll love coming to work everyday, I know I do. P.S. Our office space comes with WIFI, copier, fax and scanning services, security system, and private parking.

greenCOW Coworking

greenCOW Coworking

I can't say enough great things about greenCOW Coworking. I have been a member for nearly a year…read morenow, and my business has benefited tremendously from this decision. When I first saw the negative reviews here, I was really shocked. Upon first glance, I was impressed with greenCOW and the team behind it. Now, after working there as a paid member for a year I can tell you that even behind the scenes this place is pretty amazing. Keep reading if you want the truth behind this coworking spot... I came from downtown Chicago where coworking spaces are all over the place--and they are all bustling offices. So, in regards to the other reviewers, there are many reasons an entrepreneur would rent a coworking space, and I will tell you why. After moving to Indiana and trying to work from home for 3 years, I kept wishing I could find a coworking space. I was easily distracted at home, my family did not take my "job" seriously because I didn't have a boss to report my hours to. Also, I never had anyone around to talk to about my business ideas or stumbling blocks. I am a health coach, and I believe in the value of regular social interactions and connections. Working from home leaves you, for around 5 days at a time, alone and lacking social interactions with others. I even used to go to the library to get rid of distractions from home but still, I was missing that social element (and somewhere to heat up my lunch or take phone calls). Enough time had passed where I decided to drive over 30 minutes to Hammond to go visit greenCOW in person. I thought that's a far drive to commute to my "office" each morning, but I really knew this change would be worth a try. I was right! I drive 30-45 minutes there and back every day because it's so worth it. First of all, greenCOW offers an unbeatable price for their space. Other coworking spaces average much higher per month. If I can pay $100 a month for an office, I think that's a steal! Second of all, I met 5 new clients in the first few months while I was working at greenCOW. It's fantastic for networking, and the team there really wants you to succeed! They are always telling others what I do, introducing people as they come and go, and it sets me up for a great network of business opportunities. Even the people who work there are interested in being paid clients of mine. Third of all, greenCOW has everything I need. They bought 2 standing desks after they noticed I was putting my laptop on the railing to help me stand while working. They have printers, faxing and copiers, and I can do color printing for free whenever I want. They have a small kitchen where they allow me to stash food in the fridge, cabinets; also knives and cutting board for me to prep my lunch when I don't have time in advance. They have private offices where I can meet my clients for one-on-one sessions (a very professional alternative to meeting at my home or a coffee shop). They have meeting spaces of all sizes where I can teach workshops and charge attendees for them. They have an endless schedule of social and business-related events or classes which are FREE to me as a member...classes about investing, running social media, posting your services on business networks, photography, podcasting, and we now have our own greenCOW Business Speakers Toastmasters club which helps us become better public speakers. Maybe I shouldn't even be telling you all how great this place is because I don't want it to fill up. I like my space, and I want to keep it all to myself. But, I couldn't sit back and let these sad reviewers spread their negativity in a place where the sun truly shines. This is the best investment I could have made for my business.
