I am not a big beer drinker so a half pint was enough for me. They have East Brothers (local brewery) Bo Pils on tap. The servers are easy going, friendly and efficient. What a great experience! Went here for food and drinks and the environment was cozy and friendly. Felt like a true European pub (lolol). Well I had high hopes coming at 2pm on a nice Sunday afternoon. The young gal hostess/waitress with an I Love SF shirt greeted us and sat us. It wasn't too busy and the crowd had died down. Once seated she reappeared to ask what we wanted to drink and said she would come back to take our order(well she never did) Jennifer who tending the bar even brought out my Margarita but first trying to drop if out at the table next to ours. 7 minutes later a guy walks in and Jennifer seats him, bring his glass of wine and takes his order all while we are waiting to place ours. This place is a lot of fun, it is a Rugby inspired bar/ restaurant with excellent food, I had the spicy chicken wings, the wedge salad and the rib eye steak. Everything was fantastic, the steak was cooked perfectly, was very lean and the flavor was out of this world. I had the chicken wings for lunch and they were so good that I came back for dinner, by buddy and I split the salad and the steak came with mashed potatoes which were a little dry, the vegetable mix that also came with it was the best mixed vegetables that I have truly ever had in my life. I have lived in this neighborhood a long time, and I've spent plenty of time in Up & Under without ever once feeling uncomfortable--until today. For the first time in all my years here, I was called a slur inside this establishment. An employee called me a "dyke," and moments later told a woman in a wheelchair to leave because she didn't have money. Let that sink in. A longtime neighborhood icon--one that used to feel welcoming--has turned into a place where staff openly use hateful language and mistreat disabled patrons. It doesn't matter that there's a new owner. It doesn't matter how beloved this pub once was. What matters is the reality right now: this pub has chosen to employ people who think it's acceptable to hurl slurs at paying customers and eject a woman in a wheelchair for the crime of not having cash in hand. That is cruelty. That is discrimination. That is evil. I have never been treated this way in this place before. But after today, I will not be back. And I will be telling everyone I know exactly what kind of environment this pub now fosters. If you care at all about human dignity, think twice before giving this place your money. read more

TBH the food is a bit overpriced for what you get. My burger was $14 without any sides. The service was really, really unskilled. For example, for a party of 3, the waiter brought out one fork, one knife, and zero napkins. We had to request settings and napkins for the whole party. Also the food didn't all come out at once. I'm a former waitperson myself, and one of the cardinal rules is to never walk around empty-handed. Never waste a trip. The staff here hasn't been taught that. read more

If you, like me, have been longing to return to a time of reasonably priced drinks head to Up & Under Pub. It's there that I recently had a $4 cocktail. Yes, you read that right. Inside, the place is a riot of decor. Rugby jerseys line the walls. The ceiling appears made of metal tiles. Sports are broadcast from the over-bar televisions. And a cast of what looked like regulars sat enjoying themselves at the bar. They serve food here (which I didn't sample) but I can't imagine coming here if you didn't also want a drink. The place screams classic pub. Is it funky? Indeed. There's outdoor seating on one side of their corner space but the other side hosts a parklet with high stools that gets some nice sunshine. It also sits under a tree, making every surface of the metal "tabletops" somewhat sticky with sap. This is definitely a come as you are place and the service left me feeling welcome. The prices sweetened the deal. I'd not set out for the Up & Under as a destination but were I in the 'hood and interested in a drink I'd return here in an instant. read more

This is a long due review, but after my recent visit, I certainly have to tell yelpers that this place is certainly my favorite pub/sport bar/dive bar/eating spot in Pt. Richmond. The location is nice too, it's the nicer area of Richmond, where you can check out unique local stores, local restaurants and the fairy houses neighborhood is across the street. The couple times we were there, we had their burgers and they were delisssshhh!! The meat had smokey flavors and the buns they used were on point too. They also have other food on the menu, including steaks! Don't forget to ask what their special of the day and they Eben have daily soup too. Happy hour ends at 6pm, mixed drinks $4 and beers on the tap $6. What we love about this place is that it's somewhat family friendly. Lots of people bring their kids there, so as a family, you can still enjoy your drinks and watch games while being with your family too. We will definitely be back more often! We ordered the Asian prawns appetizer, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich and a cheese burger. It was all really enjoyable. The shrimp delicately grilled on a bed of slaw, the chicken spicy - tasting the Siracha, but not so crazy spicy it's inedible, and the burger hardy with good beef, fresh roll and creamy cheese. We started off splitting some appetizers, which included the kiwis, fried pickles, and potato skins. They definitely do a good job frying things here because all of it was crispy, delicious, and left me feeling full. Flavors were balanced and they paired well with the ranch given. I ended up ordering the lamb burger (medium rare) for myself, which made me SO full afterwards. It was delicious and tender with lots of flavor from the blue cheese. My only problem with it was that it was pretty soggy. The bun was falling apart in my hands, making it not as satisfying to eat. Monthly lunch with friends. We take turns choosing the restaurant. My friend chose Up & Under. When we walked in, the bar was packed with locals. A little creepy walking by and being stared it, then greated by "Hellooo ladies". Ew! We found a table away from the bar and when our male friend showed up, we told him he was no longer allowed to pick. The bartenders could not have been nicer or pour a better drink. They were really nice and funny. The good is crazy good! One person had a grilled cheese and fries, I think it was called The Hooker? One person had a wedge salad with chicken. It looked great. It's almost like they were annoyed you came in giving them more work to do. We got seated but were given no menus, waters, nothing really except to stare dumbly at the other waiter that was still available and rushing around. When we finally got menus and our orders taken, most of the drinks and food that we wanted to order weren't available. Great. Whatever they did have finally arrived. Food was ok. Your regular burgers and fries kind of joint. But when your have poor service like that, it really just affects your whole meal. Shame since they seem to be a big staple in the community and survived a COVID shutdown. Point Richmond is a beautiful gem otherwise.
