The staff is lovely (I've been twice this week and both times they complimented either on our choice of purchases or our outfits ;)) They don't have many clothes but do have a great textiles section with beautiful folk placemats and embroidered wall hangings. They're also involved in making new funky products from donated goods and one thing that always strikes me when I visit is the endless lengths of knitted scarves which hang from the ceiling (knitted by customers from donated wool remnants). In fact, before going…read moreto Sweden I joked with my co-worker about how we should go to one since we had business in Sweden and he rolled his eyes. As we landed in the small town of Umeå, I saw the IKEA and mentioned it to my co-worker. We didn't have to start our meetings until noon and IKEA ended up being a short walk from our hotel so we did end up going and I almost think he was more excited about the experience than I was. So, they have all the same products I can remember from the IKEA in Burbank, and it all has the ridiculous names too. Cafe serves the same foods except the cinnamon buns have some sort of crystalized sugar on top (it looks like the giant salt clumps on pretzels). This store was very clean, the staff was friendly and greeted us and the displays just looked nicer than what I remember from our stores. They were in the middle of redoing some of them. Compared to the jumbo sized one we have in Burbank, this felt so small that it only took us 20 minutes to walk through. So wonderful. I think I'm a fan of smaller IKEAs. I don't feel like my whole afternoon was spent trying to find the checkout after seeing every product they produce. One thing that puts this IKEA way above US IKEAs, they have a candy section with bins of gummy candy that line a wall. Why on earth don't we have this in the US?!
