And to top it off-- she even brought some leftover soy candles (she hates waste) for free and had them lit on the tables and around the room so it all looked stunning as the sun set. She helped with every detail and was so caring during the event, most people thought she was a relative. There were a couple of potential snafus that could have happened (not her fault at all, it was something to do with the building) and she said, "don't worry, I got this." And she did. Everyone told me how much they loved the space, the food, and the whole vibe of the reception. Heidi is a big reason why.

My…read morefriends and I bought our tickets for $25 on Groupon and then went to the Paint Nite website to register for our evening of painting. You can choose by location, artist, painting, or date. We did a Paint Nite at El Rodeo in Edgewood. We were about 20 minutes early and the four of us were able to get a row of seats together. We started a few minutes after six. The session began with the instructor making us say a funny Paint Nite oath about how we would not complain that our paintings were horrible. Everyone was given an apron, white canvas, three different size paint brushes and a plate with white, black, red, blue and yellow globs of paint. Following the directions from our instructor, everyone in the class mixed colors and painted a beautiful beach scene. I do not consider myself talented in the art department, but my painting turned out beautifully. With the instructor and assistant, our group had a great time at Paint Nite. We enjoyed ourselves and the time we spent together making our masterpieces. For my group, it was everyone's first time, but we were all very excited and would like to plan another night out doing the same with more of our friends. I think this is a great idea for friends, couples (even though the majority of the class was women) and a night out. You do not have to drink, but it can make the paintings look better for some people! Tips: Arrive early for a good selection of seats. Wear clothes that you don't mind getting a little paint on (it might not happen, but it can and did to me!) but still look nice because they will be taking pictures to put on their Facebook page. And most importantly, have fun!

We worked together to set item level budgets and design choices (e.g. flowers, printing, etc.). However, each proposal we received was over budget. Communication also became a problem. When she overlooked scheduling problem between the venders and our requirements, she became defensive about her faults. Also, she promised she would only manage one marriage a weekend, but on our weekend she had two weddings. I wish the relationship would have worked better and I hope she learns from our concerns.

We hired…read moreDiana to help with wedding day coordination, but in fact she ended up helping with planning, crisis management, and general advice in the months leading up to the wedding. Given that vendors often try to double as event planners (especially caterers, venues, and DJs), Diana had the difficult job of coordinating the coordinators. She did so with aplomb: building positive relationships with the other vendors, soliciting input on the master schedule, maintaining flexibility, and helping cultivate a sense of joy on the big day. She could easily charge double or triple for her services. Diana helped with the following decisions and more: creating a floor plan, hiring transportation for the wedding day (we used three vendors: a hotel shuttle, an all-purpose van, and a limo), hiring and negotiating a better rate for drapes, brainstorming ideas, communicating with other vendors, buying small items that we forgot (tea candles, a car decorating kit, and a guest book), lending us some common wedding items (a ring pillow, candle holders, and a "bird cage" for gifts), delivering ribbons for the wedding cake, and creating a master schedule. We also appreciated that Diana was fine with the unusual gender roles in our planning process, as the groom handled most of the planning. We found that some vendors were quite sexist in this respect, but Diana was fine with communicating with both of us. In short, we can't emphasize enough how thankful we are for Diana's help.

The remaining guests were served stuffed chicken w/ gravy which my mom said was very good, along with potatoes which were also very good, and green beans. The green beans looked like the life was zapped out of them, but don't all American-style cooked veggies? After a brief break, we were served the wedding cake and the cake was very tasty as well. Moist, light, with a lemon flavor. I sat and watched the bride having the time of her life flitting about the room and I thought to myself about my initial assessment "Wow, I was completely wrong."
