I consulted a handful of naturopathic doctors before I chose one, but nobody compared to Dr. Leander. She has literally saved my life! At least, it sure feels that way! When I came to Dr. Leander, I was having terrible pain in my gut. I became bloated, lost all my energy, and was so weak I could barley move. I went to a gut specialist medical doctor, before I found Dr. Leander. This "gut specialist" gave me 20 seconds of his time, cut me off, and then prescribed me a pill to take. When I asked why I was taking this medication, his exact words were, "This pill is $1200, a pill that expensive is bound to work." I went home and did some research, discovering that this pill was known to cause immobility, cancer, and could destroy the lining in your stomach permanently. I called him 4 times to address this. When he finally got back to me, I asked him why he didn't tell me how bad this pill was for my body long term. His words were..."You didn't ask what bad stuff it would do." WHAT? So it's the patient's job now to stay on top of doctor's about being ethical? Needless to say, I knew it was time to consult a Naturopathic Doctor, somebody that takes preventive measures to cure people, instead of prescribing damaging medicine. This is when I found Dr. Leander!! She gave me her undivided attention, listened, and got me on a plan that cured my gut pain and symptoms in 2 weeks without any long-term damaging side effects! How do she do it? With oregano oil and a diet of no gluten. Dr. Leander found the root cause of my pain (stress, exhaustion, and a diet that needed to be changed because certain foods were causing my gut to be inflamed), and I have not had gut pain since! I have since consulted Dr. Leander about a handful of things. She has helped cure my crippling period cramps and taught me how to find more energy throughout the day. In addition, I LOVE her office! She has created a beautiful space that is inviting and peaceful. The team at IVY Integrative is top notch too. They are full of passion and truly love what they do! Since I have been a patient of Dr. Leander, I haven't felt so good in years! When I had my first appointment with Dr. Minette, I was concurrently seeing my ninth neurologist. All the different pharmaceutical cocktails I have taken over the years, dietary changes, "my (insert relationship here) takes this, that, and the other thing" trial & errors, did absolutely nothing to get to the root cause of my migraines. They didn't touch the frequency, or intensity, of the migraines. I was having 4-5 migraines a week. They were so bad, I can remember lying there praying for death. Fortunately that was not my fate. Dr. Minette is absolutely the best. Every time I talk to her, I feel like we could be the best of friends. She asks a plethora of questions so she can approach your treatment in a manner that is going to give you the best results. There may be some tweaking along the way, which you would experience in conventional medicine, as well. She doesn't push remedies and/or products on you that you can only purchase from her. Often times she'll email me a link from a website where I might be able to get what I need at a lower cost, or with an expedited shipping. The proof is in the pudding, so to speak, right? Within the first year of being treated by Dr. Minette, my migraines decreased in frequency & intensity; to the point where I have been sustaining 1-2 migraines in a month at a decreased frequency, as opposed to the 4-5 migraines in a week before treatment. I honestly can't remember the last time I filled my pharmaceutical migraine medication. I recently relocated to the Houston, TX area and was quite stressed at the thought of having to find a new ND. Fortunately Dr. Minette is able to continue my treatment via phone consult and email. Communication and mutual trust is crucial in a therapeutic relationship. David likes to use a 1-10 pressure scale which I have found useful. As he is applying pressure to a specific muscle or knot he might say "take me to a six", for example, as he increases the pressure. Applying the right amount of pressure is important as injures can occur if the wrong amount of force is used. I've experienced this first hand so I like the system in place here. David also introduced me to red light therapy which is an interesting and burgeoning field of science. I've had good results with what he has applied.
