My husband and I call him the amazing healer, because he always knows how to find the root cause of any aches and pains. He then uses various neuromuscular approaches to resolving them. Yesterday was my second time having a massage with David at Elements of Bodywork. I absolutely loved and he's very knowledgeable and truly helps his clients learn about their body. He's very patient and kept me calm while helping heal my injured shoulder. July 2015 I was I a car accident being hit from behind which caused a shoulder injury. I received the approval to have a neuromuscular massage done. I looked into Element of Bodyworks and found out that they also cover FSA benefits. David really helped me a lot in November 2015 during my first appointment. This is the first that I've constantly booked and recommended a massage therapist, but he's that good! David is a professional in his demeanor and therapeutic style. Having a back injury, I've been to many different massage therapists over the years and had hundreds of sessions. Communication and mutual trust is crucial in a therapeutic relationship. David likes to use a 1-10 pressure scale which I have found useful. As he is applying pressure to a specific muscle or knot he might say "take me to a six", for example, as he increases the pressure. Applying the right amount of pressure is important as injures can occur if the wrong amount of force is used. I've experienced this first hand so I like the system in place here. David also introduced me to red light therapy which is an interesting and burgeoning field of science. I've had good results with what he has applied. read more

The intake process was effortless and the appointment was on time, unhurried, centered, grounded, enthusiastic, authentic AND focused attention was given to my needs/concerns. Using language that was understandable along with helpful charts/illustrations, David directed his impeccable competency towards my issues, and immediately devised a strategy and short and long term plan along with exercises to do at home...to help solve my body complaints. His office is extremely conscious and squared away, well designed. David was friendly, personable but still very very professional. I started going to David years ago when he was at Modern Salon before he and his (now) wife opened their own place above my naturopathic doctor in a cute house in Elizabeth, and now is on Providence. He is both gentle and strong. He helped me get through some really bad neck pain caused by stress and an improper bike fit, which on a triathlon bike can wreak havoc in such a low aggressive position. He is generous with his time, is very zen, and just has a magical touch. He seems to "read" body reactions very well and he understands physiology and psychology very well. They have a variety of treatments. Next time I'd like to try a wrap. I highly recommend David and think he is the best masseur in Charlotte. My only reason for not going to him on a regular basis? Pure and simple: Budget. When I'm a rock star, I'll have him on retainer. read more

I have been on a hunt to find a replacement for my massage therapist (who was truly amazing), ever since she retired from massage. I tried several places and always left feeling disappointed and less than thrilled with the results. In January I was in a car collision that forced my steering wheel into my knee at 60+ mph and wow, did it hurt! Since then I've been in constant pain. Nothing was broken but the internal damage to my knee kept me in wincing pain for the last few months. I asked David about a new treatment he had and he invited me up for it. I went up and got a 90-minute treatment on my knee with his infra-red laser and I was skeptical at first but the proof is evident now. My pain has reduced by 1/2 what it was when I walked into his office. I am no longer a skeptic of this treatment and want more. My pain level was around 4-6, higher if I'd been on my leg for many hours at work. Now it's well below a 2 and sometimes I even forget to elevate it because the pain isn't there like it was before this treatment. David is amazing! I've been having pain issues with my neck, shoulder and ankle for a long time. He spent considerable time, getting to know my pain issues, showed me several exercises to strengthen my muscles and talked with me through the session, explaining what he was doing and how the muscles relate to each other. I like that he made education a part of the therapy treatment by teaching me simple, effective methods that I can implement at home. For the first time in months, I can move my neck without pain and the 'knots' are gone. I was visiting Charlotte and ended up with terrible back pain from being on the road, and needed a prenatal massage ASAP before getting on a cross-country flight. I booked a massage with David at the last moment, I really had no idea what to expect, but he had availability. I get regular clinical massage, so I am kind of picky. He did a fabulous job, I have already passed his name on to my friends that are regularly in Charlotte. The office was clean and tranquil. He can tell if you work at a computer all day, right or left handed, sleep on your stomach vs. back, and everything else. And he knows how to get every "kink" out to provide optimal stress relief. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis- a disorder that affects the spine and can cause intense pain, a hunched-back and the inability to hold your head up- literally. Recently, I had a flare that doctors threw lots of pills at: I was given prednisone (steroid) and norco (pain pill,) though I had no relief. I could not work. David Parks, owner of Elements of BodyWork, took the time to discuss my condition with me and the muscles involved and what may help. He used Cold Laser Therapy on my back, rib cage and neck. I limped into his office using a cane and came out standing up straight for the first time in two weeks. The pain relief is enormous! I literally cried from feeling like myself again.
