I'm on the 5th floor and not facing any of the streets, so my review is solely based on that: I've been a resident here for about a year and it's mostly great. The good: there are (almost) monthly events for residents where you can grab free food and drinks, it's super close to Downtown Culver City, and management is super responsive to maintenance requests. The bad: the lounge with the vinyl player has not worked a single time, the 3 BBQ grills have gone from all working to only 1 (fully) working, and the parking situation is mildly annoying. The apartment is extremely dog friendly, they offer free parking validations for your guests/visitors, and it's a very safe area with patrolling security guards. There are events on the front lawn all the time and I'm glad I moved here! read more

7 month update! Fire alarms at all hours of the day and night have become the norm. Broken elevators and people with box deliveries blocking the hall! For the rent that is paid this building has become more and more difficult to deal with. Definitely look at other buildings before moving here. The features are nice and units too but at this point. Upper Ivy - Safety reminder for residents to be mindful and aware of their dogs being controlled an on leash. Especially lager dogs. - Apartments Near Me - Culver City, California

Overall the complex is very convenient and walkable to downtown Culver. The Metro line adjacent to the building is helpful for anyone who needs public transportation or the convenience of traveling throughout LA without the need to drive. Pet friendly but downside is that besides the standard deposit they require a pet monthly fee for any pet including a cat. The office team is friendly and maintenance team is also friendly and quickly comes out. The ugly - being adjacent to the Metro is noisy, the train starts running at 4am. In addition it is not uncommon for people with mental illness / drug addiction to be wandering through the Ivy Station premises in full crisis mode screaming loudly. Another downside, dealing with upstairs neighbors stomping/running across their apartment on a daily basis. This starts in the morning and goes on during the week and weekends through 9 pm. The apartment ceiling literally shakes.The building manager is not helpful and basically says too bad they can't do anything. Always quick to site lease aggreement. So if you work from home or are in the healthcare field with early hours this may not be a good choice. read more

Apartment building has some flaws. First, apartments are very noisy. Particularly on the side facing the Ivy Station restaurants and metro stop, you can hear everything going on. Unlike many buildings of the same age, A/C system is pretty shoddy. At move-in, the A/C was broken. Even after it was fixed, the apartment was either roasting or freezing. Before move out the management company failed to provide the required pre-move out inspection itemized statement. They nevertheless withheld the bulk of the deposit for "damage" to the unit. However, they were unable to identify a specific reason or documentation beyond an invoice saying the apartment was fully cleaned and fully painted. The place was professionally cleaned before move-out, so its unclear what the justification for the additional cleaning was or why the apartment needed to be fully repainted. read more

Been meaning to put in a review for Upper Ivy. So far, I've been living here for about 5 months and everything is great. 1 bedroom is a good size and I like many of the amenities that the building provides, gym, Luxor packaging, and pool. Management team have made my living here easy and have answered my few concerns when brought up. I'm easy going so I've figured things out myself. Native Angeleno so the amount of people and traffic that other reviewers have indicated is subjective. Like that there are many things to do within walking distance from here: restaurants, movie theaters, and bars. On the first Friday of every month there is a large market on the grassy lawn where small businesses showcase their goods. Also, various food trucks show up throughout the week so I get to try different things throughout the week. In all, solid place to live. read more

Be prepared to hear hotel parties on the weekend, your neighbor's every footstep and the sound of metro/traffic/homelessness nightly (some of which you sign up for when you choose a building that's attached to a hotel/near a metro). The poorly designed light above each 1 bedroom window (see pictures) stays on all night to early morning (at least 8pm-6am). And without a blackout blind (which isn't preinstalled) you feel as if you're sleeping with a light on. The location is convenient, elevators never take too long, but overall beware of some of Upper Ivy's shortcomings. read more

She was super warm and friendly and we really appreciated that she was able to answer all of our questions in a really honest way. First of all if you like walking to restaurants and coffee shops this is the place for you. Overpriced for what you're getting, and most people move out after a year because if it, but a nice place. I'm going to mix in some pros and cons. Many of the tenants seem like daddy is paying their rent and they've never been taught basic manners. Me me me. Not considerate at all. That being said their are some nice people but beware of a huge portion of pretentious entitled snobs who look at you like you're crazy when you smile and say hello. Gym needs some more equipment. Have to supplement with an outside gym membership because they just don't have enough equipment. Person at front desk (Alexa) is an ice queen. I get shivers down my spine when I talk to get. The cold vibe that comes off of her is palpable snd it is known throughout the complex. Literally have NEVER seen her smile. EVER! I avoid speaking to her unless it's necessary. She's THAT cold. I'm sorry but you are representing the community, if you don't like your job GET ANOTHER ONE. It's part of your job to make the tenants feel at home and put a freaking smile on your face once in a while it's not that hard. The rest of the staff is very nice and maintenance is wonderful. They throw really nice get togethers. They need to fix VERY sensitive smoke alarms that go off when you are cooking anything that isn't an egg. You sign up for crazy when you live near a train stop so I'll forgive the occasional screaming from the platform. Security is usually pretty responsive and was actually accosted once by a crazy homeless guy. Having restaurants and coffee shops right near by is s big plus. Nice pool, spa and club rooms. Staff needs to be more on the inconsiderate tenants, but seem to avoid confrontation. Apartments are small but nice. You cannot beat walking 20 feet out of the Lobby and up to the rooftop canopy club for a drink in the summer. read more

Love this complex great location amenities and staff hands down a great place to live

I'm one of the first tenants who moved into Upper Ivy so I can say this with confidence: don't move here unless you're prepared to deal with A LOT of noise and difficult management. The pros: good location, clean complex, and safe environment. The cons: consistent LOUD noise from construction, train, and public events organized by the Upper Ivy team, as well as a dismissive community manager with serious attitude issues. Management decided to start throwing DAILY "community" events consisting of loud music blasted through an outdoor speaker system, a DJ station, and nonstop yelling. When tenants complained, the community manager claimed that they knew what they signed up for (not true). And while the volume was ultimately lowered after an excruciating back and forth, the noise still persists on a regular basis. The Upper Ivy team couldn't care less. So let me spare you the BS and headache: don't sign up for this. If you're looking for a quiet community where you can get work done in your own apartment or relax quietly by the pool, this isn't the right place for you. read more

Upper ivy has great views and even more to come. Central to pretty much any where in Los Angeles the staff is amazingly helpful. They have had some issues with alarms and elevator inspections, but its necessary to provide a safe environment for residents. read more

For anyone looking for a fun neighborhood close to the train and trendy eco friendly restaurants, and a fancybconcirge this is a great place to live!. Don't live here if you can help it. When we first moved in, the place was only maybe 30% full and things were okay at that point. The amenities like the pool and gym are nice and the location is walkable to Platform and the Culver Steps. The ceilings/floors are extremely thin, so we could hear every footstep of the people above us. As the building filled up, it was clear that management did not care about residents whatsoever. Maybe this was because the management constantly turned over. Not a single person who worked there when we moved in still worked there when we moved out. There was constant noise from events held at Ivy Station. We were told when we toured that there would be farmers markets and yoga on the lawn. Instead, there were lots of events blasting loud music until pretty late at night. Many residents complained several times, but nothing was done. The worst thing would be large construction machines that beeped loudly from 8PM to 3 or 4AM every few weeks to change the ads on the side of the platform. The lawn was actually the main reason we chose the apartment, so that our dog would have room to run around. Our leasing agent said that dogs were welcome on the lawn, but not even a month later, a big sign went up banning dogs. This was enforced strictly by the security guards, who seemed more interested in enforcing management's rules than protecting residents (someone on the platform literally threw glass bottles at our window while the security guards did nothing). On the financial side, we were given a rent concession as a special to be applied on our 3rd and 5th months. Both times, the concession was not applied and we had to contact management repeatedly to have the issue fixed. No one seemed to care that we were charged more money than we were supposed to be charged, and they had either no idea or no interest in fixing it. Our last month of rent was supposed to be prorated since we were moving out halfway through the month, but they charged us the entire month. When we went to ask about it, they wrote down a number on a post it and told us to just pay that and leave a balance, which felt super weird. Upon moving out, they kept almost our entire security deposit despite us leaving the apartment in great condition. We were charged $170 for cleaning, $199 for water when our monthly water bill was typically around $30, and a ridiculous $495 for paint. I have never lived in an apartment where they charged for painting what should be covered by normal wear and tear. They also didn't send us a list of what we were charged for until we sent several emails and called several times. Our first few emails were ignored. Overall, this place looks nice on the outside, but seriously deserves to be investigated for their sketchy practices. read more
