Jay was incredibly detail oriented and thorough throughout the entire inspection process. Jay was methodical and also took time to explain each and every deficiency and whether or not it needed to be immediately addressed or just a small ding. The resulting report was easy to read, straight forward and detailed each and everything aspect of the house both inside and out. I cannot say enough amazing things about the experience I had with Jay. He was extremely thorough, thoughtful, responsive, and respectful. At any turn if I had a question or a concern, even if it wasn't 100% within his area of direct expertise he'd give what he knew and or recommend someone personally to speak to gain further information. The inspection was prepared in a timely manner and was paramount in getting necessary repairs done to my home prior to purchase. Jay was AWESOME. So kind, thorough, honest and straight to the point. As a first time homebuyer, I was nervous that the inspection would be overwhelming and stressful. If there was an imperfection, Jay explained how to properly fix it and what the cost would be. He was honest and even saved us money. He was on time to the inspection (early) and he made use of our time. My boyfriend and I actually enjoyed walking around with him and talking, he is THAT friendly! Our expectations were exceeded and we will use him each time we need a home inspected. After the inspection he insisted we keep in contact with him and gave us a packet of m&ms with his brand on it. I have been actively in the market to purchase a home since March of 2020. I have had multiple properties under contract and have gone as far as scheduling home inspections on two separate properties in just over a months time. I am grateful that Upright has performed both inspections. Jay explained the process as well as price upfront and took the time to answer all the question I had as a first-time buyer. Thanks to Jay's thorough inspection report, I realized the first property was a dangerous money pit. The second inspection, was just as thorough even though the second house was in far better and overall safer shape. Both reports were extensive and detailed with descriptions, explanations, and photos; that even the most inept home buyer could understand. No one really likes house hunting and no one is happy to pay for a home inspection on a house they're not going to buy but, it's a necessary part of the process and Upright makes it so much more manageable. Not only did Upright give us a discount the second time around, I soon found out we got a great deal too. Friends of mine paid more for one inspection, on a similarly sized house, than I did for two inspections combined. Plus, their inspection report wasn't as detailed. Through the entire process Jay has made himself available in a busy real estate market. He has been flexible with my work schedule and deadlines. Jay took the time to explain what he sees and why it is worth noting. Jay is professional and impartial all while being informative and detailed. I recommend Upright to all home buyers and will use them, exclusively, in the future! read more

Highly recommend him if you need a home inspection as a buyer! Now, for the lengthier review. My agent provided me with a list of home inspection companies, and after reviewing each company's website, GHHI stood out. I quickly understood what the inspection included, that the team had the necessary qualifications and certifications, and that they were a BBB accredited business with an A+ rating (I verified!). My husband and I had a laundry list of inspections we wanted done, and GHHI was able to provide most of them for reasonable, additional fees; at the time of this review, they also offer wood destroying organism inspections, radon air tests ($150), and comprehensive water tests ($250, includes water quality and radon). The total cost of the home inspection + all add-ons for a 2-story home with an unfinished basement was $1,125. This felt incredibly reasonable, and it was also very convenient to schedule so many inspections with one company. I've only had one other home inspection experience as a buyer, and while I remember that report being detailed and somewhat helpful, the inspector did everything himself for 3+ hours, so we had no context for the details he shared and we felt quite disconnected from the process. Jared (the owner of GHHI) takes a totally different approach, and I'm here for it. Jared arrived early and started to walk the property, and once I arrived, he explained his style and how he prefers for folks to walk with him. I was impressed with how thorough he was and his multi-tasking; not only was he performing the inspection, but taking photos and notes, educating me, and answering my questions. As an aside: I'm interested in learning about my future home but this is absolutely not my wheelhouse, and I think Jared did a great job of explaining things in layman's terms. The inspection took roughly 4 hours; I had a septic inspection at the same time, and Jared was very accommodating (and helpful!) when we needed to stop and chat with that inspector. Jared conducted our home inspection in the morning and we received the report that night! I appreciated that photos were included (for evidence purposes but to also jog my memory) and a rating system was employed. A Table of Contents made it easy to jump around. I think the report provided helpful general information as well as notes about recommendations and issues. While the amount of text was more on the concise side, I felt it was adequate and professional. Jared really went above and beyond during the inspection itself, so I think a review really needs to take that process and those conversations into account. I will take Jared's combo approach, which includes a thorough inspection with the client + conversations + a report with photos, over another inspector's approach that is quite removed and only includes a report. Again, I highly recommend Green House Home Inspection, specifically Jared. He was incredibly personable and ensured the inspection process was educational, and dare I say, enjoyable!

If you have insulation in the attic, he will not even lift the corner to peak under it. After closing, when we started cleaning we realized the house was infested with mice. We spent thousands for clean up and sanitizing. The remediation guy was shocked it was not detected by the inspector. He said there were burrows and signs everywhere. This is what we paid an inspector for. He was a nice enough guy, but I've had a few homes inspected by different companies and this had the least detail and thoroughness. I hired Alpha Inspection for a commercial property inspection about 6 months prior to this message…read moreand paid approximately $2,000 for what I expected to be a professional and informative evaluation. After closing on the property, I discovered during the permitting process that the entire electrical system had to be replaced to meet building code requirements--resulting in an unexpected cost of approximately $52,000. When I contacted Alpha Inspection, I was told they "do not perform code compliance inspections." That response was shocking. The report I received largely consisted of observations that were already visible to anyone walking through the building and failed to identify or even warn about a major issue that led to a massive financial loss. For a $2,000 inspection, I expected far more than a surface-level report with no real value. Even more concerning is the complete lack of professionalism in their follow-up. After I spoke directly with the owner, he told me he would investigate and call me back. That never happened. I waited a week, sent a follow-up text, and still received no response. As a business owner myself, I understand that mistakes can happen--but ignoring a client after such a serious issue is unacceptable. This experience has cost me $52,000 in unexpected upgrades and left me with zero confidence in the value or accountability of their services. I strongly advise anyone considering Alpha Inspection to think twice and to hire licensed specialists separately for critical systems, because this inspection did not provide the level of diligence or responsibility one would reasonably expect.

They did the home inspection for the house we just moved into and they surpassed my expectations with the time they took, the helpfulness in regards to not just the items that needed to be addressed, but they also took the time to explain how some complicated systems (to the untrained person) in the house run, and how to maintain those systems effectively. I had two guys spend over two hours inspecting every nook and cranny of my new house, and I also cannot say enough about the excellent demeanor both inspectors took while explaining an issue. Rather than making the process of inspections terrifying and upsetting (which trust me it can be) they were to the point and very straight forward. This last inspection was especially important to us because it involved a home that is 170 years old with a septic system, a well system, and four chimneys! We have never purchased an antique home before, and we wanted all the details we could get on how the home systems function. At this time of Covid-19 concerns, Debbie allowed me to be present for inspection, which was an absolute must for us to be present due to us never having owned an antique home. Debbie came completely prepared with multiple sets of gloves, a face mask, as well as antibacterial wipes to accommodate cleaning of gloved hands and any touched surfaces. She also required only one person in attendance, with safe distancing at all times. As for the inspection, Wow! It was a staggering experience for sure! We absolutely appreciated the extreme detail of inspection that Debbie provided us. She combed through every detail of the original house and addition , she had great equipment to measure heating in each room, she was extremely knowledgeable about existing antique structures, as well as the 50 year old addition that comprises the house. We had seen the house three times before inspection and we did not notice some very major issues. We also had a building contractor in to look at the house the day before our inspection, and he noted two areas of major concern. I did not share any of that with Debbie, and she immediately saw those same issues, and a few others! She gave excellent perspectives, and recommendations for issues that need immediate attention. She gave us a comprehensive 60 page report with excellent photo documentation for easy reference of how to proceed. Lastly, Debbie was congenial, even tempered, and was patient with all manner of persistent questions. I also appreciated Debbie's humility in areas outside of the scope of her legal obligations as a home inspector! I very much appreciated Debbie's thorough inspection so that we can proceed in the purchase of this home with a reality based knowledge of what it takes to maintain an antique home. The gutter was recommended as a solution during consultation, but after installation, the ice issue remained unchanged. There was no meaningful improvement. When we raised this, the company maintained the gutter was functioning as designed and declined responsibility. We do not dispute that they are working as they should, but we had been told that they would resolve the ice buildup. We were offered only a small goodwill discount and encouraged to consider additional paid solutions. After multiple attempts to resolve the issue directly, we ultimately had to pursue a credit card dispute to recover part of the cost. It was resolved in our favor. We recommend getting very specific expectations in writing before proceeding with this type of work.

I had Vaillancourt install a new roof 2.5 years ago, with the goal of addressing some leakage…read moreissues into the soffits when ice dams formed. They assured me that they would handle the problem and that they used the best materials. The roof they would install would not have this issue and would withstand NH winters. I foolishly trusted them and the solution they proposed and laid down $30K for a new roof. The installation was rocky and rushed ( those were the words of the foreman ... they were hurrying on the 2nd day to finish ). Nails in the driveway and hanging from my trees. The next rain and there was water on my porch and under my door. They came back to try the fix the issue, made it worse, and I gave up and fixed a rain deflector myself. 1.5 years later and the first real winter and it was raining in our kitchen and icicles were forming on the outside of the house. Called Vaillancourt and the answer was "act of god" and "once in a century storm." They did not bother to inspect it. Next winter and this 2.5 year old roof has completely failed in the recent weather. Small ice dams have compromised this inadequate new roof installation. The ceiling and walls dripping and massive brown icicles growing from the external walls, a vent, and the soffits. This has been going on for 4 weeks. This issue is now FAR WORSE with this newly installed roof than it ever was with my old roof. Hiring them only made the issue worse... never before have I have water dripping from my ceiling like I have with this Vaillancourt installed roof. Vaillancourt came by finally last week and inspected the issue this time, acknowledging the massive failure of the roof to shed water. ( It would be hard not to ... ) But their "management" refuses to acknowledge the botched job and won't stand behind their work. They may have used the correct materials, but the workmanship, quality and outcome is clearly suspect ... the pictures speak for themselves. No guarantee, no honoring their warranty, no interest in making things right. I'm SOL. Speaking with local contractors whose judgement I trust ... this is normal for Vaillancourt. They say they get a lot of business fixing the quality issues left by this firm. My advice: avoid the pretty trucks and slick sales, and don't trust the claims of quality. Their business model is all in the sales and marketing, and then they cut corners on installation. Vaillancourt clearly does not stand by the quality of their work. Find someone who will guarantee their work but drives a beat up truck ... your home will be the better for it.

Absolutely fantastic experience! Jay was on-time, amazingly friendly, thoroughly professional, and he put me at ease immediately which was crucial to me as a first-time home buyer. Throughout the (very unhurried) inspection, he was meticulous in his observations and pointed out a whole bunch of things I would never have thought to question on my own. He engaged with my teenage son rather than ignoring him like he could have and explained things to me in a way that was easy to understand. I can't say how happy I am to have purchased your policy! I didn't even have the policy in effect 10 days and needed service. I called and spoke to a customer service representative who was very courteous, understanding & knowledgeable. Jay was amazing! We had so many questions that he answered very thoroughly. We felt very confident in the inspection that took place. He pointed out exactly what we would need to fix and took the time to explain in detail all of our questions that popped up along the way. The home buying process is a tough one, but Jay made us feel so much more prepared. Excellent services provided with very upfront straight forward pricing. Jay was fantastic. Of course Murphy's Law it snows on the day of my inspection but it did not slow Jay down. He was timely, knowledgeable and very thorough. He got the inspection back to me in under 24 hours. Very obvious he knows what he is looking for and spotted things I never realized on my initial viewing.
