It's a gentle smell, perhaps a mixture of the candles / soaps / parfums / teas they carry. Secondly, the ladies that work there are warm and inviting, welcoming us to the shop / offering complimentary iced or hot tea / providing overall GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Next-ly (if that's a word? and I know it's 3rd, I can count, for really), the items offered are a beautiful array of HANDMADE PRODUCTS in a wide price range for: _ home decor (furniture & accessories), _ bath (soaps, perfumes, candles), _ kitchen (some utensils, tea pots, mugs) _ children (clothes, toys), _ wearables (jewelry, some clothing, flash tats) _ gifts (cards, all of the above, and did I mention flash tats? ^ _ ^ ) Let's talk about FLASH TATS some more! Flash tats are these fun metallic temporary tattoos that adults can wear and that I first noticed some yogis wearing about a year ago. I'm into them these days - I came in wearing some - and chatted w/one of the ladies there about the small 2-pack of gold feather flash tats I was holding while she packaged the delicious tea I was purchasing. She said that her flash tats lasted her about 2 weeks which, if you're familiar with flash tats, you know that not all of them are made equal. Some come right off when you put them on but the ones sold here are long-lasting! _ GOLD FEATHER FLASH TATS ($6.50, 2-pack) She also explained that the tea I was purchasing which was the hot tea sample of the day - Cinnamon Vanilla Rooibos (red in color and looking lovely in the clear glass teapot heated by a tea light candle below it - which I think they sell and I wish I took a photo) was only 1 tbsp of the blend steeping for a few hours, and that it won't (and hadn't) become bitter. Also, the proceeds for this tea vendor go towards AIDS research! Gold star with a cherry on top! _ CINNAMON VANILLA ROOIBOS ($2.50/ounce = about 6 tbsp for this specific blend) After I purchased the tea and flash tats (9th mention here, haha!), I said to keep the change and instead of keeping in the register or putting it into a tip jar, they put it into a jar for DONATING TO CHARITY (which one I don't recall)! 2nd gold star with a cherry on top, a la mode (oui, that is vanilla ice cream). However, there are lots of delicate items and I would think you would want to check in to see if the customer has any questions or want to see any of the items that are placed inside the display cases that have to be opened. There was silence until my friend asked if one of the items were vermeil gold or gold plated. She had no idea and was a bit taken aback by the question but then got up and went behind to look at some sort of book. So we figured she must be looking it up. We walk around some more and about a good 20 mins later we come back and ask her did you find out and her response was, "what?" Long story short:…read more Back in 2009, I had purchased a Good Cheer Company/Piece of The Puzzle Affirmation bracelet from a shop over on Abbot Kinney (Mystic Journey) and it was on me daily until around 2013 when it finally fell apart. $14 isn't too bad for something that lasted quite long, but the issue at hand was finding another one. I was fortunate enough to get the last one at the same shop that year, but fast forward to late March 2015, this one snapped and I was out of luck. I tried several local 'spiritual shops' and anywhere else I felt may carry such a line. I finally attempted to google almost any kind of name associated with the line, and Maglyn's extensive site was on the first page. I noticed a message board and was pleased to see how quickly they responded to customer's questions and requests. I noticed the message I had left myself a few months prior, but had forgotten to check back; as my bracelet was still in tact. The company had responded with an email address so I followed through to see if there was still any luck...I had struck gold. Realizing this was an actual brick and mortar shop in New York, the most helpful Rachelle and I kept in touch via email up to when she said the shipment had arrived. I called the following day and bought two of the three in their delivery. I sit here today less than a week later with two brand new puzzle bracelets, one going right on after I opened the carefully prepared package. Plus, I always love mixing old and new items in my home decor because it just feels more personal and layered for me. That's where Isabella's Treasures in New Paltz came in around late Fall '24. I wanted my tree dressed in time for Thanksgiving dinner. Yes, I'm that person who puts up the tree at least the day before and lights it during dessert time to kick off the holiday season. To my surprise, Isabella's had exactly what I was looking for: vintage ornaments in the perfect colors- each one unique, full of soul, and priced reasonably in the $4 to $8 range. Totally worth it for pieces I won't find anywhere else. The shop itself is a cozy treasure trove, filled with everything from jewelry, textiles, to jewelry boxes- both new and vintage.
