Clean building, bright full sun in the front few rows, gets a little harder to see as you move toward the back. Abundance of parking which is a plus. I like the idea of the free items toward the back. You never know what you can use and if it's free it makes it that much more special. Today I went in hopes to find a pair of jeans. I saw that their jeans were $10, thought a bit high for old jeans but was excited when they were marked 50% off blue tag. But, I was charged the full $10. I also grabbed two jackets one was purple tag and one yellow. My total was way more than I added up prior heading to register. Should have been a total of $20 I was charged almost double. I was too embarrassed to speak up. I feel they make their own prices according to the customers appearance. Maybe I didn't look in need-because I always take pride in how I dress but I didn't have much to spend on old used clothes. I will do without for now as I spent more than I had until my next paycheck. read more

I recently happened upon this great little thrift store recently with two of my kids on a recent Friday, and though it took a few minutes for a parking spot to open up, it was time well spent! There's a wide selection of books, CDs, DVDs, cassettes, records, shoes, clothing and other bric-a-brac that keeps folks engaged. My kids were fascinated with the stickers, vintage cameras and jewelry, while I perused the classical music options. The coolest aspects, however, were the free table of stuff set outside and the fact that infant clothing is free, which seemed such a great way to give back to the community. huge , confusing , and certainly not a good deal. let's preface to say i shop 90% Thrift. One would need a good 3 hrs to go thru huge racks of items, and mostly everything i saw was $10 to $15, That's not thrift . I saw nothing " Free" unless I had no idea where to look, I MUCH prefer People's Place where for $10 I can get 3 items, and often Designer brands, and everything is arranged so it's easy to find things. The owner is CRAZY. Overpriced - NOT affordable. I would never donate my items. No way they are getting close as much, but just post them on Facebook and sell them myself for half the price. Love her response to all of the other people stealing the same exact thing... And there is a system... Yeah, there is no system other than things are marked one thing and you get up to the register and she tells you another thing like a winter sweater is actually a coat even though it was in the sweater section or pants are actually not pants... They are professional pants which cost more... When there is no sign that says that, lol. It's not even about the money. It's this woman's attitude and complete disgust in the people thrifting. You think the people that made it possible for her to open up her Phoenix Deli and build a brand new thrift store and House would at least get common courtesy and respect... Hey you're welcome! Next time we will send our donations to the Salvation Army where we don't have to see where our money went and be disgusted. All of the non-clothing items have a price range of 5-15 dollars per item, even chipped items. Sets of things are priced individually. Lazy and overpriced. A free sleep mask from Delta Airlines and open clear lipglosses priced at 5 dollars is criminal. Totally alienating towards low income folks. read more

The store has a parking lot, books are $1, and they have discounts depending on the color of your tag. I went in to look around with my family. Thrifting has been something my daughter and I recently got into doing. I have a list of things I've been hoping to thrift and I had a Starbucks thermos my husband lost on that list. This thermos I can't even find on eBay- but on this day I happened to be in Kingston at free to thrift, I found the same exact thermos! Needless to say, I was overjoyed. I like that this store is committed to being a source of help for the community, doesn't overpriced things, seems to be organizing and adding more things constantly. read more

The owner is not friendly and should not be working in customer service. I will no longer donate or purchase to this store. I visited recently and was flabbergasted by how blatantly rude and disrespectful the owner is to her customers. I witnessed her accuse a customer of lying about a price rather than admitting her mistake. The store is cluttered and crowded, and overrun by people reselling merchandise online. Let me preface this with: I never write bad reviews. Ever. But this was off the hook. Hang on for the ride. I walked into Free to Thrift on a fun girl date with my bestie, who had slipped on the street and her shirt had gotten muddy... so she wanted another one for our movie for the air conditioning. So i decided to take her to one of my fave thrift shops in Kingston. We walked in and browsed, I tried to make idle chatter with the owner who seemed really tired, so I backed off. I found a lot of great stuff and my friend found her 'movie' shirt.... but I didn't think I could afford it all, so when I found out that some of the items were free, based on color tag system, I marveled with joy when I realized some of the items I'd picked out were the free color. I asked the owner about how her mission worked, how cool the free system was, and again, she seemed really drained and tired. Odd, but I thought it was so cool, and couldn't understand why she wouldn't want me to know more. But at the end, I wanted to double check the discount items actually were discounted, because I work in the service industry and don't have a ton of extra cash lying around.... so when she berated me in front of a whole room full of customers, saying that I had asked her '15 times' about the free system, I was shocked. I replied, 'Oh, did I ask 15 times?' And she corrected herself, 'No, only 8, but it has an emotional toll on me when people don't trust me.' 'Okay,' I said, even though she was misreading the situation pretty dramatically. The real kicker is, when I got home and read the receipt, not only had she not given me the free items, but she'd charged me for an extra pair of pants that weren't even there. When I contacted her, she said I'd need to bring in the items, and that she said I was threatened by the free system, that they were doing all sorts of good for the community. Okay. I'm glad she's doing good for the community and stands up for her boundaries, but not at the expense of my pocketbook, intentions, or well being. I don't need my few bucks back, and I hope they do a lot of good for the community. But I was treated like my money didn't matter, my curiosity was both unwelcome and highly dumped on, and my joyful girl date with my bestie (who saw the whole thing and won't be going back there either) was temporarily blown off course.
