Terrible Quality and Service - Avoid Décor-Rest and JC Perreault…read more This has been one of the most disappointing and frustrating purchases I've ever made. I ordered three custom sofas from JC Perreault, manufactured by Décor-Rest, expecting high quality and durability. What I received was anything but. After waiting six months for delivery, one of the sofas started to fail within another six months--springs were literally coming out of the seat. It took over a month for anyone to come and fix it. Fast forward eight months, and the same sofa broke again in the exact same way. This furniture is in the home of an elderly woman, with no children, no pets, and very light use. If a sofa can't survive in that environment, I can only imagine how quickly it would fall apart in a home with young children or animals. It's not only disappointing--it's dangerous. The fact that this happened twice with the same piece shows a clear failure in Décor-Rest's quality control, and JC Perreault's after-sales service was slow and unhelpful. They were quick to take our money but nowhere near as responsive when things went wrong. A sofa of this price and brand reputation should last for years--not fall apart twice within less than two. This is not an isolated issue; it's a warning sign. I would strongly caution anyone considering purchasing from either of these companies. Buyer beware: you're on your own once they deliver.

This HomeSense is a combo store with Marshalls. They share the same checkout area…read more I browsed through this store. There were huge watermelon baskets that were summery. I also liked a small, square cast iron pan. I recently saw how to make Japanese omelettes using such a cast iron. Part of me wanted to pick it up, but I still can't see myself constantly rolling the egg up to create a thin egg roll. This store has a wonderful selection of kitchen accessories, from spatulas to nonstick frying pans. I loved the tea cups and reusable straws. There is plenty of parking outside the store. I had no problem finding a spot when I was here. The washrooms are on the Marshalls side of the combo, in the far right corner of the store. The women's one was clean and spacious. I heard about these West Island thrift shops a little while ago and was so excited to go check them…read moreout (this is a review for the Beaconsfield one but there is one in Ste Annes and one on St Charles as well.) The NOVA thrift shops are stocked by donations from all over the West Island. They are non-profit organizations run by the Order of Nurses and all the money raised goes to their charitable activities: "The primary mandate is to provide specialized care and support in the home to cancer and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) clients during the course of the illness and particularly in the palliative stage. Other programs include bereavement support for children and adults, adult day centers, home support services and foot care clinics. ALS and Alzheimer Caregivers Support Groups are also available." So that's wonderful and merits all the stars. This NOVA location has furniture, some really gorgeous old tables, chairs and lamps at super reasonable prices. There's also a great collection of books, clothes, kitchen ware and other treasures. The other two NOVAs don't have the furniture, and the one in Ste Anne's had the most exciting dishes and ceramics and fur coats. If you love looking for secondhand treasures these are sweet spots in beautiful neighbourhoods that feel like old villages, a surprising break from the city just a 20ish minute drive from downtown. The staff are as friendly and dedicated as you might imagine and everything they have for sale is clean and high quality. Lovely spot to donate your goods as well! All the love for NOVA.
