Urban NW built my home in 2018, and I have so many problems. - When the heater runs, the house sounds like it is going to pop apart - There is light streaming between the planks of the front door - The garage door sits an inch away from the wall at the top - The concrete porch collects water - The upstairs floors sound like a cheap musical instrument when you walk - I could go on & on, but they just do not care about doing things right I highly recommend against buying an Urban NW home! read more

Urban NW Homes required a deposit up front, spent 2/3 of the deposit on preparatory expenses without notifying us, then presented an unacceptable home-building proposal after 6 months of waiting. The owner was incompetent about detailing the construction project or conducting fair business communication. He refused to return our deposit and we went with another builder. read more

Every time I brought up any repairs needed that should have been covered by their one year warranty, I was told to just remind them at the years end. Well the end of the year came and they suddenly stopped answering my calls/texts. They did almost none of the repairs. I'm having to hire someone else to get this stuff done. Stay far away from these builders. They will lie and cheat you at every turn. Owner is a bully who ended up carving his name in our sidewalk. His wife looked us straight in the eyes lying about the windows they installed incorrectly. We upgraded our appliance package only to have the microwave and dishwasher break after the one year mark. We noted then that the appliances were one year old at install. Honestly it's been almost three years and I still feel these awful feelings towards these crooked people. They even sold us a golf course lot with a premium cost knowing full well that the golf course owner planned on closing it. This happened to many of us including one of their friends. Integrity and honesty is not what these people believe in. Shortly after we moved in I was in the back yard and noticed an urban guy jumping over the fence by our air conditioning unit. I didn't think much of it, maybe they forgot something. A week later we had our first hot day and turned on the ac only to find that it didn't work. We called a tech out and they found the fuse had been pulled out. Our sliding door didn't work properly and we had to wait 18 mos for someone to repair. I strongly advise you to avoid at all costs!!!!! If your still tempted to work with them, go talk to the neighbors who have had homes built by them. read more

-We chose this builder because of the previous reviews and their reputation for building green. Seems they have a bigger commitment to their bottom line. We signed the building contract in July 2016 and finally closed in August 2017. Warranty completed in 2018 with lots of issues/push-back. The process started great, they had a construction liaison that helped us through the process of the build. There was a lot of turn-over from when it started to the finish. We signed the contract where the house was supposed to take 3-6 months to complete. It took over a year to build. Our contact with the build kept changing and sometimes we found out because the email would bounce back and I had to call in to get the new contact. I know new construction is bound to have some things come up but the end product was not the quality I expected. Even at close when we got our keys, the house was still dirty from construction dust. They met us at our new home, dropped of the keys and a "welcome basket" and left as quickly as possible. It was a very awkward and cold pass off of ownership. Urban NW Homes is more focused on their profit and will cut costs for their benefit. Their quality is poor and their customer service is even worse - especially from the owner (Troy Johns). Troy Johns refused to start our one-year warranty repairs after he found an online review by someone else he thought was me. He said he will need to confirm first that I did not write a bad review before he will address any of our build issues. Apparently, "Angela G" wrote a review that was very similar to my build issues. Some of our issues were resolved with the warranty, but some were not. Below is a small portion of the issues we had: -(Resolved) Our refrigerator was on the same breaker as my island which means I can only use one appliance/plug on my island (even though I paid extra to have one on each end) because it was still within code. When I plugged in my crock pot and my rice pot, the fuse blew. After some back and forth they finally agreed to fix it so the refrigerator is on it's own breaker now. -(Resolved) Of the 16 canned lights installed, 4 failed and fell out all at different times. I researched this issue and that particular canned light was recalled. -(Not Resolved) Our master bathroom shower has leaked at the door from the beginning. We have had them come out for the warranty but they have never been able to fix it. The problem appears to be they built it to slope towards the floor instead of the shower. -(Not Resolved) The garage door still leaks even after several attempts to fix it. -(Not Resolved) Instant hot water still will not give consistent hot water at my kitchen sink even after several attempts to fix it. Some times it takes up to 5+ minutes of running the water to get water hot enough to wash dishes. -(Not Resolved) The upstairs bedroom door was not framed straight so it doesn't close property. Their fix was to shave off part of the door but this has still not fixed the issue. -(Not Resolved) The master bathroom toilet room was not framed straight so the wall is crooked and there is a large gap between the frame of the door and the wall. -(Not Resolved) The posts-beams in the front of the house are not secured and show a large gap. It was called out on my home inspection but they refused to fix it, saying it is fine. -(Not Resolved) Our building/house plans - as part of our contract shows a furnace room in the upstairs. This room has firewalls and was intended for our furnace but later we were told the roof does not allow for the installation of the furnace in that room. This is a breach of our contract as the house plans show the furnace upstairs but they installed it in the garage. There was no addendum to our plans and no communication to us that they were doing this until after the furnace was already installed in the garage. The house was NOT built according to plans as per our contract. We have reason to believe the incorrect roofing/trusses were ordered and since the house was already framed, they were not going to incur the cost to fix the house and build it according to contract/plans. The overall experience was stressful. I wanted them to make things right according to the contract. Our warranty contract was closed by them regardless some items still being unresolved. They called me told me they are done and are not going to fix anything more. Worst experience ever. Terrible customer service from the owner. I feel sorry as I know the person in the warranty office did her best but is limited to the powers above her to authorize repairs. Maybe that is why they have such a high turn-around. Would never recommend this builder to anyone. Very disappointed. read more

Let me start by saying before you sign the contract or buy from Urban NW visit the communities they have built in and walk the neighborhood. Feel free to ask the home owners about their experience was and what the service was like after the sale. Also note many home owners are still battling issues and haven't yet written reviews until they get their long awaited repairs fixed. I have been in my new Urban Downs home for 2 years now and still fixing the dozens of issues that were short cuts and either intentionally hidden by the contractor or missed by the unqualified building inspector that Ridgefield replaced. Don't fall for the 5 star reviews many are from subcontractors and realtors trying to boost reviews so earn a favor. To Jerud, Troy and Allison. I was amazed at first that you all never took a minute to ask me how my new home was, or take a minute to thank me for buying my home, or even thank me excepting all the mess ups and not making you redo them as per our contract. However, now I realize you were too embarrassed by your work and would have felt obligated to repair your mess ups. Did you really expect even a two star review? Like I said forget these bogus reviews, come visit Urban Downs and visit the best neighborhood in Ridgefield. We moved to a wonderful Urban home seven months ago. It's fabulous for retired folks like us. The fit and finish are impeccable right down to the smallest details. We continue to be astounded by the energy efficiency; we knew it would surpass that of our 25 year-old home a mile east of this new residence but our utility costs are now almost negligible. Finding a one story with a three car garage can be difficult if one's goal is to acquire decent square footage for a couple. Urban had us in mind! We love the upscale finishes and level, easy to maintain lot. Our neighbors are wonderful (and we have the pleasure of sharing our backyard fence with Sherry L (see her review as well). Horrible unprofessional people both, Jennifer and Allison ( very judgemental). How can the builder be represented by this. They both, ignored my phone calls. Allison had the gauls to call up my mortgage lender to confirm if I had been preapproved of which I am. Then aside, from this stoops even lower by whatever she learns to determine I am not worthy. Who does that!? Onky unprofessionally people do. Not once did she answer my email( s). To this day they both decided to judge me. Would you invest your money with people like this? Not me. I am glad this happened because, even though I have a high consumption power or if you do too I'd encourage you not to go there and foster this type of unnecessary behaviors. In fairness we should start by stating that we like our new home, feel that we paid a fair price and believe that Urban uses quality subcontractors to ensure a well-built home. This review is based on our new construction experience. First, we are told our home would be completed within 6 to 7 months, it took over 10 months from the time we signed the contract to closing. During the construction process we visited the site a number of times and continuously saw errors that had we not pointed out before more construction was done would have been costly for them and time consuming to correct. Working with their construction manager, Matt, was the primary problem - he is arrogant, condescending, does not listen and refuses to take responsibility for errors. Should you choose to build with Urban we would recommend you keep copious notes of every call, save every email and text. You will need it. We waited to write this review until our one-year warranty was over, so we can give an honest and thorough assessment. It is expected that some issues will arise and Urban is very quick to correct when it is at their subcontracts expense, however we had a costly error that Urban was at fault for and although it was in our contract and paid for they actually tried to fight it. Even after providing the written proof they still tried to claim they had no knowledge! It was quite a process to get what we paid for. The number of issues we had with Matt and simply getting our home completed is too long to list. We would not want anyone to experience the building nightmare we did - do yourself a favor, walk one of their developments and speak with the home owners about their experiences. It surprised us how many positive reviews are online verses the discussions we have had with our neighbors who have expressed similar negative building experiences. read more

My fiancé and I just purchased a home in Urban Oaks and could not be more happy with the experience we've had. For starters, Allison stayed late on a Friday night just so we could walk through a couple houses after hours because that was the only time that worked for us. Fast forwarding to the end of our closing, we then met Jennifer and Jordan. Both amazing people who really care about their job and making sure my fiancé and I were truly happy with our home. Jennifer made it clear multiple times to call you at any moment we have a question and emphasized to never hesitate. She is super sweet and very helpful! Jordan walked us through the whole house, helped mark things up, showed us how everything worked, and really emphasized that he was here to make sure that we had the best experience and that if there was anything we wanted fixed he would make sure it happened if he was able to do so. We loved him, very friendly and super funny! I have total confidence that these people will take care of us, as they have already so much. Let's not forget to mention how absolutely beautiful my new home is! Urban did an outstanding job building our house and we love all the custom touches they added.
