Normally I wouldn't bother writing a review about a chain store like Urban Outfitters, but because I feel as though this particular shop is different from its North American counterparts I think it deserves to be rated. For one, the clothes are more expensive in Dublin's Urban Outfitters than in my hometown one. I don't know how they justify inflating the prices... Are customers supposed to pay more just because it's an American company? How is that fair? Dublin's Urban Outfitters seems to be popular with people who are too lazy to actually look for real vintage clothing. Vintage is supposed to be cheap, in less we're talking about designer labels like Chanel. Another thing: vintage does not mean bad quality. The clothing at Urban Outfitters never lasts long. You spend 50 Euro on a threaded hippie top and it unravels after 4 washes. Ugh! So annoying. Also, what's so cool about looking like hundreds of other people? Shop here and you're guaranteed to have clones all over the city.

I used to shop and Urban Outfitters constantly. Back when I was 13, 14 years old, Urban Outfitters used to be quite cutting-edge, but as counter-culture and increasingly become culture itself, the store too has become very main stream. I don't shop there nearly as much as I used to because, now that everything they sell is popular and normal, albeit "hip" I can find it elsewhere for cheaper. Anyway, Cathal is absolutely right when he says that Urban Outfitters is all about selling a lifestyle. They want a consumer to walk into the store and find a complete outfit from skivvies to shoes, and to pick up some fun lifestyle items while they're at it. The lifestyle they're selling is presented in all aspects of the store, not only in the apparel. The visual merchandising is painstakingly designed and carried out, with usually cool and remarkable results. It's a good time just to check out the décor. Ok so yes you'll find skinny jeans, but you'll also find some lovely dresses, tops and very pretty jewelry. Their t-shirts are really nice and fit great, but they're not cheap so try to get em on sale. This is a great place for guys to shop for slim and skinny cut jeans, as they have a wider selection than a lot of other stores. Their shirts are also pretty slim cut, which is especially nice for skinny guys! The knick knacks, books and house wares are always fun to look through, and can be a great place to find a silly present for a friend. I also recommend coming here round Christmas time, as they always have really fun and interesting ornaments that you won't find anywhere else.

I really like this shop. (but I rarely buy here!) That's because all the products are so pretty to look at but I can't say the same for the price tag on the items! You can be lucky when they mark down items but general tupperwear, clothing etc are in my opinion very expensive. It's a very spacious shop, plenty of room to look around. It's a cool place,They have quite a broad range of funky products, from womens to mens clothes, , cool kitchen wear, cushions, lomo cameras, nice vinyl frames etc. A bit of everything really. All the hispsters buy from here! 10% off purchases with your student card.

The store brings a certain robust modernity to Temple Bar, that which is otherwise a focal point of more oddball, hippy goings-on.

House of Ireland specialises in beautifully crafted and designed Irish crystal and silverware…read more The pieces are very impressive and it really is like buying a piece of art. Most of us couldn't afford to totally deck our houses out with the stuff, but for a high-end gift, it might hit the spot. The items on sale are far removed from merchandise sold in other gift shops, not a 'póg mo thón' plastic apron in sight. This makes it popular with those tourists who look for some expensive authenticity Irish to bring home with them, and who have a few euros to spare. It's a good place for a wedding present too, or a smaller gift if you can't cough up the big bucks. It's a slightly pretentious establishment (definitely the kind of place might refer to itself as an establishment, it's not a common shop, don't you know), which I suppose comes part and parcel with the business they attract. Inside is kind of airy, ethereal and peaceful - the perfect atmosphere in which to conduct some expensive Celtic purchasing.

***Note: this is a review of the Carolyn Donnelly Eclectic range***…read more Since its impressive launch onto the scene not two years ago, the ex-Quin and Donnelly fashion designer's range of homeware has remained true to form, and more. For lovers of a vintage sensibility, it's a must, but what I love about this range is that it's not easily categorised. It is what the name suggests, and numerous sensibilities combine with the designer's personal stamp to create something unique yet entirely of a piece as an ensemble - from the smallest cake cutter or knife and fork set to the larger furniture pieces. And it comes with a distinctly modern twist. The shabby chic look has become so omnipresent that it's cliched, and I'm so glad this range doesn't fall at its feet, rather takes those aspects that appeal in a more classic way and then shakes them up a bit. Her Rosetta Dhurry rug is a great example of this I think; at first glimpse, you might think, seen that before. But in fact you quickly realise you haven't, as its almost pixelated design gives it something quite different. http://www.dunnesstores.com/cushions-throws-and-rugs/carolyn-donnelly-eclectic/fcp-category/list What comes across throughout is a great deal of thoughtfulness and a real love of comfort, eclecticism, ethnic design and vintage chic combined, from the smallest paperweight at around a fiver, to a velvet-covered blanket box/head board or bedside lockers. For lovers of any of the key design aspects, I find you'll find this this range interesting. Another vote in its favour is the keen pricing. Some of the furniture isn't particularly cheap, but there is certainly great value to be had at the lower scale. It's now my first stop when buying gifts for friends, from the very pretty tea light holders to the beautiful keepsake boxes which you're happy to form part of a room decor, to the range of kitchenware which suits a mix n match approach to decor perfectly. I really hope that Dunnes know what they have here and how to market it (there's no doubt they could be making a lot more of it on social media), because I think that it, teamed with the Paul Costello range which is more traditional, classic, male-oriented and higher priced, they have created something special. Plus these ranges are available on their online site now, which seems to be coming together even if it's not yet of the standard we've come to expect from the bigger UK chains and more long-standing online retailers. For instance, I can't find the furniture on this range featured here, but perhaps they don't sell that online. In the store itself, on George's Street - the showcase one for the range - you'll walk on the rug but you won't see that it's actually for sale; you have to enquire to find that out. A browse here will walk you through the range; a visit in store will let you get a proper feel for it: http://www.dunnesstores.com/carolyn-donnelly-eclectic/home/fcp-category/home?resetFilters=true Really something special as the new range shows - the only serious problem is how to choose!

It was one of the best customer experiences I have ever had. I had a somewhat awkward situation which Dave went above and beyond to resolve for me, for which I am extremely grateful and is the reason why I am spending the time to write this review. So, if you are looking for Knobs or Knockers (of the Door kind!) and want a wide variety to choose from and excellent customer service, I would highly recommend stopping in.

I had to repeatedly ask basic questions about fittings to get an answer. When I asked what the return policy was in case I brought it home & the finish didn't match my other hardware, I was told I couldn't do that, even if I returned it that day. For pieces that are expensive, this seems ridiculous. But the rude service was what guaranteed I wouldn't be back.
