I visited during posted urgent-care hours after a fall. CommonSpirit's public-facing website describes urgent-care pricing during specific hours and states that patients will be informed whether their treatment or testing is being billed at an emergency or urgent-care level. That did not happen during my visit. After the visit, I received a CommonSpirit facility bill totaling $38,591.97 in gross charges -- roughly $31,999.44 of which was for a single CT scan. For context, a brand-new CT scanner costs around $100,000. My concern isn't with the clinicians, who were professional. My concern is with the disclosure practices of the facility itself. Don't assume an organization has your best interest in mind simply because of its marketing or its religious and mission-driven branding. Ask explicitly, before any test or treatment, whether you're being billed at the emergency or urgent-care level -- and get the answer in writing if you can.

The nurse practitioner, Betty, then came and we had a long conversation about what I was dealing with and the potential reasons. I ended up getting some fluids via IV. It was a mix of many factors, and I was lucky I didn't wait. Once I got released, I felt so much better. I actually ate after that! Well not all urgent care facilities are created equal because we found out this is the best AFC location! When you don't have a local doctor or you need one after hours, this is the go to! We first showed up as an emergency appointment at another location but then we did a check up on a return visit at this Lakewood location. And guess what? What started out as a small fracture diagnosis but we found out by the staff at this location it was one of two fractures! They really pay attention to details and we are so grateful and will make this our new urgent care favorite facility for future needs. They do have a X-ray machine and a technician that will read the results. You can get in and out without waiting up all night at a typical hospital ER. Win, Win for everyone!

The intake was simple and I was settled in a treatment room by Missy. Latisha the nurse came immediately, took my blood pressure, temp, etc. This was immediately followed by Dr. Maynard arriving who ordered an EKG and blood studies. This was all done within 15 minutes of arrival. Very impressive. I would give the highest possible grades to both this clean, efficient facility and a wonderful, caring staff.
