Several days ago I was experiencing left arm pain, which can be indicative of a heart attack. Having a significant cardiac history I went to CommonSpirit Emergency and Urgent Care in Arvada to rule out a heart attack. The intake was simple and I was settled in a treatment room by Missy. Latisha the nurse came immediately, took my blood pressure, temp, etc. This was immediately followed by Dr. Maynard arriving who ordered an EKG and blood studies. This was all done within 15 minutes of arrival. Very impressive. I would give the highest possible grades to both this clean, efficient facility and a wonderful, caring staff. read more

WARNING - BILLING SCAM!! YOU WILL BE DOUBLE BILLED!! Went into urgent care and paid my $50 co-pay. Specifically asked if this would be billed as urgent care and the clerk said yes! I got a 2nd bill for the Dr that saw me! I have NEVER had this happen before! When you go to urgent care you should pay 1 urgent care visit but they're saying the Dr is affiliated with a hospital so that is how they're getting away with it! The Dr was great but unfortunately due to these shady billing practices will never go there again! Called my insurance and told them but unfortunately they already paid! We've unfortunately been here for everyone in our family. I had an SVT event that was pretty scary, but was met with a kind, compassionate team that treated me, got me squared away and referred back to my cardiologist. My 3 year old crashed on her bike and split open her chin, had other scapes, hit her head. Be careful when you come here. The provider I saw was supposed to remove stitches that I got here a week ago. The area where I got it has been extremely sensitive and painful and when she started it immediately hurt worse than ive ever had stitches hurt. I made a comment and she said it hurts because you were numbed up before, unless you want me to numb you up now. Of course I said that would be amazing and she proceeded to scoff and say "I'm not numbing you up" and a few other things. I'm not upset that it hurt a lot, im upset because as a medical provider to someone who is actively crying in pain - why would you "pretend" to offer that? Why would you then scoff and treat me like I'm less than for saying yes? Had she not said that I wouldn't have cared about the pain, I wouldn't have cared about the judgement, but why be cruel to a stranger in that way? I recorded these calls to make sure. I gave the front desk person my card they said again they take my insurance. Weeks later I get a $500 bill because they don't take my insurance. And they billed my physical as 3 separate types of appointments to run the bill up. I was very clear when I got there I was there for a physical and nothing else. Don't come here. These people are dangerous and do not know what they are doing. This facility misdiagnosed my son when he came in unable to control his coughing. He came here twice in the span of 10 days (because he's a student and didn't know what else to do). Both times he visited this place for his upper respiratory problems and he was refused basic antibiotics and Tamiflu for the Flu A. Even when we (his parents) spoke with Dr. Kristen Knowles over the phone and pleaded with her to give him antibiotics and Tamiflu (as he had just tested positive for Flu A as a precautionary measure) she said no it probably won't help. Turns out 24 hours later he wound up in ER at St. Anthony's because he continued to decline and could no longer breathe. They asked us why he not been at the very least been prescribed antibiotics?? They were shocked!! They immediately put him on a IV drip of 500mg of Azythromycin. And asked us why in the world out of an abundance of caution had they not given him any antibiotics the first time he was seen 10 days ago!?! Not only did he have pneumonia in his left lung - he was now fighting flu A and it was also aggravating his acute asthma. This facility failed our son! They refused basic cardinal rule therapies for flu symptoms and cold/cough symptoms!! Not only did they cost us more time and money (as I caught the next flight from Texas to help our son get the REAL help he needed). Dr. Knowles lack of medical attention and knowledge could have cost my son his life. Now you wonder why people die from flu, Covid or any other upper respiratory illness!! Its not the illness it the lack of proper care and treatment. Shame on this place. Their license to practice should be revoked and/or investigated! read more

BEWARE. I took my son in with a pretty bad tummy ache. His symptoms were acute, localized, and he is excellent health with no other complicating medical history. After being seen by the physician and an x-ray we came to the conclusion he was most likely constipated. I just reviewed the explanation of benefits (EOB) and was SHOCKED to see the bill to the insurance company was $916 for CPT 99214, which involves, "...detailed history, a detailed examination and medical decision making of moderate complexity..." This CPT code has a maximum Medicare payment of $108. So, two issues: (1) the rate billed is EXCESSIVE ($611 per RVU) and (2) I believe the CPT code used was inflated. As a comparison, CareNow (literally down the street) bills $140 for CPT 99214. read more

I have had my reservations about Urgent Cares, I have been to a few, but this is by far the WORST I have ever experienced. My spouse came here for a quick onset of joint pain and was tested for a variety of things, which all quickly came back negative. The doctor was so certain he had the correct diagnosis, but he was wrong; after seeing another medical professional and testing negative for his diagnosis. Misdiagnoses happen; however, you'd expect to get test results within the time frame given, especially for something that may cause a tone of stress! She was told her test results would be provided between 24-48hrs. When 48hrs finally arrived we heard nothing, no phone call and nothing on the online portal. So, we called asking for them, they still did not have the results, but they said they would call back the next morning, no word! So, we called again! Long story short, we finally got the test results 96hrs later! And of course, they were NEGATIVE!!! All that agony and stress for nothing! In 2020 I visited this urgent care for a bicycle accident. I had a huge issue with billing and had to waste a bunch of time making phone calls to iron it out. Long story short, the facility tried to double charge me! I went to this urgent care because it was all that was open at 11:30 at night when I was having an slight allergic reaction. I didn't want to go to the hospital to avoid ridiculous fees. This urgent care claims to be unique because it is "finally a 24hr urgent care". THIS IS A SCAM. I got here and talked to a doctor for a total of five minutes and walked out with a $700 bill. SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS. Normally my office visits cost anywhere from $30-$50. If you're planning on coming here please know in advance that after a certain time they charge you for an emergency room and not an urgent care despite what it says on the website. I went here last summer for a routine visit and paid the $175 that is standard for a non-emergency walk-in. All good; I went here in March and paid the same amount and was told paid in full, and then I got a bill over hundreds of dollars for a unspecific charge and have been playing back and forth to resolve this. I finally received a clear answer as to what was going on. Apparently this other company was hired on to handle the doctors separate billing and the front desk, and website were incorrect in that it costs $175 for a visit. Worthless and expensive. Visited here on a Sunday afternoon for severe cough and sore throat. Was seen by the doctor for a total of three (3) minutes. (I timed it). Was told it was "probably" the flu. No strep or flu test done. Was asked several questions about self harm. WTF? Was told to rest, take fluids and use otc meds. Sent on my way. Condition worsened overnight. Saw my regular doc Monday morning. After tests, was immediately put on antibiotics, inhaler, Rx cough syrup and pain meds. Diagnosis was severe lung infection. These places are just money-generating schemes. Why else would they put them on every freaking corner?! Besides my $50 co-pay, I expect a huge bill despite being charged "urgent care rate". D yourself a favor, skip the roadside medical stand and go directly to your doctor's recommended er. Better yet, wait for regular hours. read more

After a visit to the Centura Health Emergency & Urgent Care-Arvada location in March of 2018, my daughter, 19 years old came away with a $5,900 bill from the facility. The insurance paid $1,775 and made an adjustment leaving her with a balance of $1280. These charges don't even include the doctor fee. I have helped her dispute the bill over the past 5 months, which helped with the adjustment, but we have not come to any resolution. The big issue is the visit really should not have been an "Emergency Visit". She signed the paperwork due to HIPAA laws, but the way they handled the changing of the visit from an urgent visit to an emergency, was handled in a hurry and they did not disclose the costs of such a visit. They also did not give a copy of what she signed. They diagnosed her and still ran other tests without her consent. We are questioning the ethics and proper handling of this visit by the staff at the facility. When we were at the facility during check-in, she asked to sign paperwork allowing me, her mother, the authority to speak with them about her medical information and billing, however, the person at the check-in desk failed to have her sign the form. After the visit, she had to put in writing that I had authorization. The check-in person should not have forgot the form. It was hard for her to tell what she was signing because it was all on Smart Pad. They did not give her copies of what she signed at check-in. The staff coded the visit as an "Emergency Level 4", which her situation was not an emergency or a life threatening condition. It was just an exam and some tests that they ran after the diagnosis, which were not authorized. It's obvious that they ran unnecessary tests and submitted a code so that they would get paid more by the insurance company. In my mind, this is fraud! I do not recommend this facility! read more

WORST WORST WORST urgent care provider I've ever experienced here in Colorado!! I had a minor bug bite that I feared might be getting infected, instead of a simple $15.00 antibiotic, the dimwit doctor in her 'I don't believe in medication' glory charged me $400.00 to drain the sore, which I could have let my fiancé do for FREE!! Total BS! BUT..ADD TO THIS!!! My finace broke his finger. After two weeks it became very swollen, hurting, he developed a low grade fever and he could not be straighten it, it looked like a hook! The doctor didn't even take x-rays!!! Instead he told him to buy a splint from walgreens to hold it in place. Come to find out 3 weeks later from x-rays by a REAL doctor that the bone was completely broken in half!!! My fiancé waited so long because the urgent care doctor at this horrible urgent care said it was ok, just keep a cheap splint on it. I've been to OnPoint Urgent Care here in Colorado and they were wonderful! The only reason we went to this one is because it's so near our home. Thank GOD that UHC is opening an urgent care just down the street from this one. Please, don't use this facility!! I was informed by a woman on the phone before I came In that their wait time was "not bad". When I arrived there was only one person in front of me. The wait ended up being more than 2 hours.. which the women behind the counter again referred to as "not bad" when I asked, because apparently the wait was 3 hours the previous day. Worst urgent care I've ever been to. Went in with 2 other people in the waiting room. Got in a room very quickly but took forever to see a doctor. When the doctor finally came in he didn't even look at my fiancé but ordered X-rays. The X-Ray tech was awful. Very bad attitude. An hour later 2 people walked in and out of the room without saying anything. Finally the nurse came in to give us our discharge paperwork without explaining what the tests results were. Much appreciated this clinic was open today (1-2-2017)! The intake receptionist also explained the facility is both an ER and an Urgent Care facility. As a result, based on the Drs DX of my malady, I will either be prioritized and thus billed as visiting an ER or as an Urgent Care client. My DX resulted in Urgent Care level priority and I was charged my co-pay. I was in & out in one hour. The facility is new, clean and modern. The staff were friendly and knowledgable and compassionate. The Dr was thorough and helpful. I will be putting their info on our fridge and recommend this facility to others. One caution: folks using these types of facilities must ask (or already understand ) the difference between a free-standing ER and an Urgent Care clinic and the related services and charges. read more

With all things considered - I received the best care I have ever experienced at this facility. The front desk, nurses, Doctors all of them were committed, professional, beyond welcoming and empathetic. I couldnt have asked for anything more and have no complaints. I see a lot of reviews regarding their deceiving hours and billing... Its quite easy to understand - The Urgent Care is only open until 9pm, so if you show up after 9pm will will be billed for an ER visit. There are also papers you have to review and sign upon discharge which explains how your visit will be billed. I walked into Centura Health Emergency and Urgent Care on January 1, 2019 with high fever, cough, aches, and obviously in need of medical attention. No one else was there in the lobby waiting at the time. I have insurance and because I have heard it is important to make sure not only the facility is in patient but the doctors who treat you are I asked the receptionist to verify through my insurance company that I would be covered. I was told that they do not do these things for the patient and it would be up to me to research this. New Years Day, 102 fever, chills, aches, coughing, and feeling quite desperate for help yet none was offered. My cell phone battery went dead in the lobby while I was trying to figure things out myself, so I went to my car to charge my battery. Eventually decided to wait until the next day to see my primary doctor who would be open then. Lesson learned don't get sick on a holiday and if you do, don't ask for Centura Health to help you out. HORRIBLE!!! DO NOT GO HERE! Just down the road I went to the UC Health as an ER visit. I had symptoms of the flue and was treated wonderfully by the Dr. he said, "by the your symptoms you definitely have the flu no matter what any test says but, if I treat you it will be more expensive with your insurance than going down the road to the Centura". So, we went down the street to Centura. They explained it was indeed a urgent care co pay and not emergency. They were slow, cold and tested me for the flu. It was negative and the young Doctor did not offer me Tamiflu. Following this visit I have called numerous times as they veiled me for an ER visit. They agreed it should be reviled as Urgent care. Calling my insurance it was not ever re-submitted under the correct codes. Called back and forth they assured me it would be fixed. Now I'm in collections! I specifically went to this urgent care as it's close to home and usually not busy. My doctor couldn't see me quickly and sent me there. Check-in and taken back quickly - completed labs to confirm a UTI. Great! Then 40 minutes to get 2 prescriptions written - not so great since it was SUPER quiet. Headed directly to King Soopers to fill the prescriptions only to find out the instructions were BOTH written incorrectly. Both the dosage and side effects were wrong. Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up, as we've been to this urgent care a handful of times. We've never had issues, until this last visit. My son had to get a few stitches, so we opted to go here. We've always been in network with our insurance, no issues so it was a shocking surprise to get a out of network bill. Apparently, they can contract their physicians in, therefor charging a out of network bill. I'm in the healthcare field, and honestly, never had an idea they could legally do this! We're getting the run around from everyone we call, so just wanted to give a heads up to others to avoid this headache. Centura told us we should always check to make sure the actual physician is in network! (Like that's what you have time to think about when going to urgent care...) I had an episode of Gout on 9/20/2017 and decided to go to the Metro Urgent Care facility in Lafayette, Colorado because it was close to my house and I was in a lot of pain. After a reasonable wait time I saw the Doctor who examined me and confirmed that my condition was a gout flare up. I requested that she give me a steroid shot into the joint of my ankle to relieve the pain and quickly relieve the swelling, something that other Doctors had done for me in the past. She said that she had never done that before or heard of doing that and refused to do so. Instead, she administered a steroid shot into my butt, which was not as effective and took longer for relief. After submitting the billing to my insurance who denied it due to being a pre-existing condition I was billed $578.96 by Centura Health for the procedure. After discussing with my insurance carrier I was told that if they had paid the charges, they would have discounted them down to $247.96. I went back to Centura to try and get an adjustment in the bill and was told no, and that they also would not issue me a self-pay discount because I had not "asked for it when I checked in at the Clinic". In my last conversation with Lisa in Customer Care, she was very rude and inconsiderate. Subsequently about a year later I had to go in for another similar procedure and went to NextCare Urgent Care instead, who discounted their services to me in a total amount of $170.38. Do yourself a favor and stay away from these guys! Go to NextCare Urgent Care instead. What a rip off!!!! read more

The care was good, but I give one star because the doctors are not in network. I am a Centura employee with Centura specific UHC insurance, so I thought there would be no problems going to a Centura owned facility. The facility is in network, but the doctors are not. So despite the fact that I have already met my insurance out-of-pocket maximum, I am being sent bills for the doctor's charges. This is downright crooked and a terrible way to treat your employees. I am a health care provider and was seen in urgent care by Dr. Ho Do who could not have been more bothered and condescending (although obviously half my age and experience). I can easily ignore such behavior but to then receive a bill for over $800 because they did not bother to follow the instructions for billing my PPO (as was clearly explained on my insurance card which they had a copy of) is beyond the pale.
