Visiting Doctor Ben-Zur in Tarzana was an incredibly positive experience. I am a 68 years old Triathlete with concern for my health. During today's visit, the team / staff were very attentive to my situations, explained the tests that were given in the office and showed support. I loved all the framed information on each wall, wishing I had more time to see it all. Doctor Ben-Zur must have come into the room at least 4 times. Each time he checked on his team and explained to me what the next step is and why. At the end of my visit the Doctor took his time to go over all the tests, forward RX to my pharmacy, order more tests and set up a visit with him the following day (usually it takes me weeks before I can see my other doctors for follow up). Being diagnosed with a serious hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, I lived with numerous episodes of irregular heartbeat, fainting spells, dangerously-low blood pressure, and eventually a heart failure. Wasn't going to write this review, but felt I had to. Made an appointment to see this doctor on a Sunday, which I thought was amazing that a doctor's office would be open on a weekend. I was told to be ready for a 2 hour visit and make sure I plan my day accordingly. I was also told that there would be an EKG and ultrasound taken of my heart and my payment would be about $350.00 as that would complete my co-pay for my insurance. I thought that was a bit pricey, but for a 2 hour visit with a doctor and those tests I was fine with it. I started diving deeper into the reviews on some other sites and found one in which a patient stated that he was told the same thing except the doctor only showed up for a few minutes and the rest of the time he was passed off to the doctor's students and assistants. I called back to inquire as to how much face time I would really get with the doctor and was told that they would find out and call me back. They called back and left a voicemail stating that the doctor would spend a few minutes with me and if there was a problem to call them back. I called back to confirm the message they left, and without even addressing the concern they abruptly told me that the doctor is no longer accepting new patients and hung up! I am so grateful that they showed me who and what they are before I went in, I definitely dodged a bullet with this guy and wonder how he really gets these high reviews...something is definitely off read more

I would like to share some of my personal experience and history of interacting with Dr Ben-Zur. In 2007 because of stress at work and many other factors, I have gained more than 35 pounds of my regular weight. One day, after a stressful situation, I felt very sick in the upper abdomen and thought it was a food poisoning. The paramedics took me to the ER where the emergency doctor diagnosed me with having a heart attack. My wife caled Dr Ben-Zur and he immediately organized an ambulance to take me to his surgery room, where he performed angioplasty putting one stent and one balloon. At the first emergency room the doctor told me: This is so nice to have somebody to take care of you so well when it is needed!, then she smiled and asked me: "Are you a celebrity... " When they were rushing me to Dr Ben-Zur she added: "Don't forget to invite me to the Oscar's party." Later I had the thought that Dr Ben-Zur treats everybody as a celebrity. This review is a long time overdue. I had a DVT back in 2015 and spent the night in the hospital. I was so scared during that time and didn't know what to do. I was given blood thinners and assigned a doctor who attended to me while I was in the hospital. I grew dissatisfied with her and felt that I needed to be seen by a cardiologist to make sure that I was getting on the right path towards good heart health. I was having an increase in heart palpitations during that time and was very concerned about it. I had no idea how to find a good cardiologist, so I went on Yelp and looked at reviews. That's how I found Dr. Ben-Zur. He had lots of great reviews and I am actually one of those people who will sit and read reviews to see what exactly people are saying. I called the office expecting to be put off for a month like I was with another cardiologist's office that I had called before that. To my surprise, the receptionist said that I could come in that morning. I got dressed and headed down to the office. From the very first day I set foot in that office, I was welcomed with a smile and instantly treated like family. The staff and everyone there were so kind and patient and listened to all of my concerns. Dr. Ben-Zur is one of the warmest, friendliest doctors I have ever met. He took me off of the medication that my previous doctor had prescribed because he believed it was causing me to have the horrible heart palpitations, which is what prompted me to look for a cardiologist. The medication that he put me on definitely helped me keep my blood pressure under control. Dr. Ben-Zur believes in whole-person health and he prescribed a vegan, plant-based diet for me. That was a lifestyle change that I had never considered but I did it because I wanted to be in better health and not have to take blood pressure pills for the rest of my life. I ended up in the best health I've been in a very, very long time. With diet and exercise (hiking), I lost 50 pounds within a few months and felt great. I was even able to hike a very challenging and scenic circuit in Europe that year. I have since backslid from the plant-based approach. However, that is no fault of Dr. Ben-Zur's. It is all on me. I am the one in control of my well-being, despite all of the helpful information and guidance that I received from Dr. Ben-Zur and his staff. Every time I go in for an appointment, Dr. Ben-Zur and his staff always encourage me to get back onto the plant-based diet. I am so thankful that even when I fall off of the bandwagon, they never give up on me. It shows how much they care about their patients' well-being. Rude and not efficient/ diligent! I made my appointment a week ago and provided my Health insurance Group and ID # to run. I was then given my appointment. I have a potential heart condition so my husband was extremely concerned and wanted to be present. As soon as I walked in the door with him the receptionist rudely told him he had to leave for Covid purposes and to come back in 1.5 hours to pick me up. She then led me to the waiting area to fill out paperwork. 10 minutes later the dr came in and said they don't accept my insurance and I had the option of paying $750 cash. So wait.... my husband left due to them and now I had no ride home! Way to go for a heart patient!
