I've been a patient of Dr. Raiman's for about 10 years, and for a long time, I truly felt cared for by him. I valued our relationship and trusted that he was invested in my long-term health. Over the last decade, I have only seen him once a year for my annual physical and standard lab work. Fortunately, I have been in great health. I believed I actually meant something to the practice, but lately, the way the front office is being run has left me with no choice but to find a new provider. I understand that insurance companies are making it harder than ever for practices to survive. However, the high-pressure tactics coming from the front desk have turned a necessary transition to a "membership" model into a personal dealbreaker. For over a month, I've left messages to speak to Dr. Raiman to get a straight answer about the new $400 fee. Because , if I wait too long to pay, I was informed by Liz about a "quota" system, where the price will jump to $3,000 a year (it might be $4,000) once a quota is met. If the messages are being passed and he still won't call, it's clear where I stand. Patty simply told me her job is to "pass the messages" and that, "honestly, Dr. Raiman isn't going to call me back to discuss. He did that in the letter he sent". On top of that there is zero plan to help long-term patients transition to a new provider. Being told that "Dr. Raiman has no recommendations or referrals" and "that I should just find one through my insurance company" is a cold way to end a 10-year history. Being ghosted and told to send my own medical records through a portal is not the professional transition of care I expected. Both Patty and Liz have been argumentative, mean, and dismissive throughout this process. Their "take it or leave it" attitude, blocking access, and the pressure they are applying regarding these fees have effectively ended my time as a patient. It's disappointing to see a decade of trust thrown away because of how the front desk has handled this. Since Liz and Patty are acting as a road block and believe Dr. Raiman will not return my call, I have no choice but to put up a post. read more

Jonathan Raiman, MD, was our Primary Care Physician for many years, and he provided exceptional care professionally and expertly. He is an an extraordinarily knowledgeable physician and master diagnostician, and we always felt that we were in the most capable hands. Dr. Raiman was consistently easy to speak with, caring, attentive, and responsive. We truly appreciated his ability to explain medical issues clearly and compassionately and with steady calm whenever we had concerns. His office staff, with Patty and Liz, were always friendly, efficient and welcoming, which made every visit smooth and comfortable. Dr. Raiman is a nice Dr. However his Receptionist is a Train Wreck!!! Her name is Patty or Patsy, never got that straight. She is incompetent, lazy and MEAN! Every time I called I got you can't have a appointment for 3 months. I called a few times and left messages for the Dr. I last saw him in Dec. I got Covid so that appt was cancelled, then I was sick for my March appt but had an appt in June, he canceled due to an Emergency, I had already taken my Blood tests for that visit. I never got my results and the next thing I learned she or he canceled my med refills. That's no way to run an office. Dr. Raiman knows Patty is awful and would rather lose patients than get rid of her!!!! read more

The absolute worst experience in medical care I've ever had. I've only been seeing him for a short time and am already switching doctors. Critical appointments are canceled with just 30 minutes notice and no explanation. His office never returns phone calls, it takes weeks and sometimes months to reschedule appointments that he canceled. They also charge you for time on the phone with the doctor if you want to hear the results of your last appointment. read more

I went in for a physical. The receptionist and receiving nurse were cold, distant and unobliging. When I asked questions, they were quite annoyed. The doctor's demeanor was ok. He ordered the standard blood tests and I returned so that he could review it with me which he did but again the office staff was less than friendly & actually to the point of what I would describe as "rude." I will not return to this office because of the toxic environment. Also the doctor ordered a lung x ray bc he said he does that for ALL his patients. I had no physical symptoms to indicate a chest x-ray.. I found this to be odd and uncalled for. When I called with questions & requests, again they were rude. They were annoyed and told me to get my tetanus injection at a cvs or walgreens and the same for a shingles injection. By contrast when I visit my dentist the staff is warm and welcoming. It is a pleasure to go there. The same with my dermatologist's office staff. They are warm, friendly, and helpful.. I would not advise anyone to go to Dr. Raiman for care There are much better health care teams available in the L.A. area. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Raiman's for 7 years and have had the opportunity to interact with him for wellness exams, urgent sick visits, and most recently, chronic illness. In each circumstance he has managed my care demonstrating an expert level of knowledge and clinical practice, attention to detail, and compassion. He answers as many questions as I may have, provides a thorough explanation for his testing and recommendations, and has always been willing to help me get the care I may need quickly when being referred out to a specialist. One of the worst professional experiences ever. Had a fairly major medical issue that affected other people in the recovery. Asked Dr Raiman if he could sign a letter explaining such so they could be used for care givers to explain absences. Dr Raiman said absolutely not under any circumstances would he do that, in fact he said nearly anyone BUT him should do it. I tried to explain how he knew my history better than anyone, and was the BEST person to write such a letter and he flatly refused. This after Dr Raiman was his usual 30 minutes late. Karen in his office is amazing, but very much the only one. Stay far away from Dr Raiman if you expect anything even slightly outside the norm, the office refuses to call in prescriptions, says the pharmacy needs to send them a request, then takes days to respond. read more

Dr. Raiman has unfortunately broken his Hippocratic Oath and he will no longer be our primary care physician. My wife and I both went to Dr. Raiman for nearly 10 years without issue, always paying our bills on time, etc. Then, my wife gets COVID and begins to deteriorate quickly. Dr. Raiman did not bother to call me back about my wife after four calls; each one the receptionist assured me that he received my messages with urgency. I am at a total loss and don't know what to think. Still never heard back from him, 3 months later. Do not recommend. read more

The doctor himself is fine. Nice and straightforward from the limited amount of time I spent with him. The nurse was also nice enough. The office staff however is the worst. Absolutely no care for patients and unnecessarily rude. I had questions about my charges (they overcharged me according to insurance), and the receptionist laughed in my face and Cathy, the office manager, was exceptionally condescending. However, I'm disappointed at his office staff, especially the billing person. She is one of the rudest people I've ever encountered. I was transferred to the Billing to discuss one of the bills, as I was charged for a service I had not received. She asked me to explain the issue. My journey with Dr. Raiman's office began in April of 2016, when I was told that I would have to wait two months to meet with Dr. Raiman as a new patient. The day before my appointment (which was yesterday), I called the office to make sure that my appointment was moving forward (the office did not provide verbal or email confirmation of my appointment). Moreover, I wanted to make sure the office accepted my insurance policy (they did not ask when I originally scheduled the appointment in April). I was told to come in as scheduled and that I would fill out paperwork upon my arrival. One hour prior to my appointment time (which was when I was leaving to drive from Century City to the Encino), the office called and said that Dr. Raiman "did not to come in" and that they would have to reschedule my appointment. I was extremely frustrated, especially after making arrangements to take time off of work two months in advance. When I expressed my disappointment, the office graciously asked me to come in the next morning at 9:00 a.m. I was happy they made every effort to accommodate my schedule. I arrived to the office at 8:45 a.m. on the date of my rescheduled appointment to complete the new patient paperwork as instructed. The physician's assistant who conducted the preliminary physical (blood pressure, EKG, etc.) was lovely. She was very friendly and made the experience as comfortable as possible. After waiting about 15 minutes for the doctor to meet with me, the physician's assistant told me that Dr. Raiman was not in the office and that he would meet with me within ten minutes (that was at 9:25 a.m.). At 9:45 a.m., I was again told the doctor was not in the office and that, because he was not there to provide further instruction, they could not perform blood work; however, shortly after 10:00 a.m., the staff threw me a bone and said they would take my blood (and take extra mind you) not knowing exactly what tests would be ran. At 10:25 a.m., Dr. Raiman still had not arrived. I walked to the front office to let them know that I could not spend two hours waiting for the doctor to hopefully arrive. They were unable to provide me with an update but instead told me I could come back in the next few days to meet with Dr. Raiman. I had to decline because at that juncture, I made two efforts to meet with Dr. Raiman--and BOTH times (after taking hours off of work two days in a row) he failed to show up for the appointment. I was then advised that because I did not meet with Dr. Raiman face to face (on account of his lack of respect for patient time and effort), the office would have to discard my blood work. I am EXTREMELY disappointed with Dr. Raiman. While I understand that emergencies and scheduling conflicts arise, he must work in some medical universe where it is appropriate to (1) not show up for work, (2) run a minimum of one and half hours late when he does decide to come in, and (3) draw blood from patients only to discard it as waste. Thanks for wasting two months of my time ( and two vials of blood) as a "new patient". read more

I was a big fan of Dr. Raiman until today. I've been going to Dr. Raiman for almost 3 years now and he is aware that I have ailment that will be with me for the rest of my life, and that I require a certain medication that I need refilled on a yearly basis when my ailment occurs. When I called today to have the prescription refilled I was told I would need to come in to see the doctor. Please explain to me why I need to come see the doctor when he is well aware that I need this medication for this condition. I am perfectly healthy and there is no reason for me to come in for a check up. Sounds to me like he just wants MONEY. If you are looking for a Doctor that is going to be there for you when you need him, DR. RAIMAN IS NOT THE MAN YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. On top of that his staff could care less about you or a problem that you need help with. I asked nicely if they could call me back when they got more information about my prescription being refilled I never heard back, I had to call them back. Finally, when I told his staff that I was going to look for a new doctor, she told me "you need to do what's best for you." Terrible practice filled with terrible employees. Dr. Raiman has been my GP for more than a dozen years. He is thorough and responsible in his approach to medicine and is open knowledgeable and available to discuss his suggested treatments. The specialists he's recommended have also all been first rate. He has been there for me when I've needed him without exception. Love Dr. Raiman... He is absolutely amazing. He is thorough, knowledgeable and personable. He is a great family doctor and knows what he is doing. I love that he focuses on preventive care a lot. Most of my primary care doctor's never really pressed for annual visits or thorough check ups. I've had some health issues over the past year and Dr. Raiman has been great in treating, but also helping identify the root of the problem. I love that when i have an appointment I dont feel like he rushes just to get me out of there, but rather takes his time with each patient, and listens to your concerns. He spends a lot of time with you exploring areas of potential improvement and preventative care with a clear emphasis on exercise and diet. He motivates us to improve our diet. read more

Dr Raiman has been my primary Physician for the last 5 yrs. I was extremely happy for the first few years. Then the problems started with the staff not refilling my medication and not returning my calls or the pharmacy's calls. Once addressed with Dr Raiman, his statement was that he knew his staff was a problem but didn't have time to deal with it, and stated that if you're looking for customer service you should go to UCLA or another office. I had several arguments with the staff about setting appointments and refilling my medication. After several attempts, I was finally able to schedule a physical, which subsequently I was unable to make because my family and I had been evicted from our home during the Woolsey Fire. I left a voicemail explaining this to the Dr and the return call I received was a 30 day notice to transfer my records as the Dr wouldn't see me anymore because I was a no show. Several months later, the office did schedule me for a physical and completed blood work. However, after billing my insurance for the bloodwork, I was notified that the Dr would in fact not see me. There is no doubt that the Dr and his office knew ahead of time that they would not complete the physical, but did the bloodwork anyway so that they could bill my insurance. I asked the office to retract the billing to the insurance for the bloodwork because the Dr would not use it and complete my physical, but they refused. If you're looking for a rude staff and a Dr with questionable billing practices and who doesn't have your best interest in mind, this is the place. read more

Uncomfortable, dirty, cold examination rooms and he's always late for his appointments, up to 2 hours. I get the impression that he simply does tests in order to bill a lot of money for them later. You'll need to self-diagnose and ask for what you need specifically or he'll just throw antibiotics at the problem until they make you sick too. Not a great doctor but not terrible, he has a kind manner and at least he pretends to care, hence the 2 stars. He probably isn't going to accidentally kill you or anything. read more

I have been looking for a primary (Doctor) , my friend recommend Dr. Raiman to me ,my first visit was ok and I gave him all my medical history so he knows everything. the second visit I had couple of concern and when I start to tell him about the my second concern , he said for the other one come another time and make an appointment, if you want a business man who take you to his office to bill your insurance and make money, this is the one( he wont return your call) since he wants you to go and make appointment to charge the insurance. Dr. Raiman was recommended to me by a co-worker for a good general Dr. in the area. I couldn't be happier with my Dr. He has been exceptional in his care for myself and my wife. Dr. Raiman is calm, kind, and very understanding. My blood pressure was high- even with blood pressure medication, my cholesterol was horrible. Rather than simply upping the doses and throwing more pills my way, he recommended weight loss as the best alternative. He also offered the services of the nutritionist he works with and the program they use, The Ideal Protein. That was last year. Now, after losing 65lbs, my numbers are all doing great. The fact that this doctor would rather treat the real issue (in my case, extra weight) rather than just band-aiding a fix with more pills, has changed my life. I don't hesitate to recommend Dr. Raiman, as he has been more than a doctor, he has been an advocate for my health. read more

While it's true that he will sit with you and give you the time to discuss your ailments, you better hope that is all you need from him. In my case, it was my first visit with Dr. Raiman and the medication he prescribed gave me harsh side effects. The good dr. couldn't even be bothered to return my call even though I was serious pain and conveyed that to his office staff. After three days of waiting for a call back, I call again just to be informed that the medication does not cause those side effects (BS) and that he is referring me to a pain management specialist. Doctor Raiman is great, he is personable and thorough. A great family doctor. He takes the time to listen and ask relative questions. He offers assistance to a better lifestyle and preventative care. My mother and I were probably one of Dr Raiman's first patients in his old Riverside Blvd office. Since then almost every member of my family has gone to see him. You just can't find a doctor who cares so much about his patients. He is SO patient with my 82 year old mother who is terrified of taking medicine! Dr. Raiman was highly recommended to us, and from our very first visit to him, we understood why. We feel truly blessed to have found Dr. Raiman, and we couldn't be more pleased with his exceptional care, and with his great demeanor. When you speak to him, you know that he truly cares, and that he is extremely knowledgeable, and that he takes his time to listen to your concerns and answer all your questions. I am the type of guy that never likes going to the doctor - it takes an enormous amount of prodding from my wife just to make an appointment. However, I now owe my life to my wife for pushing me to go, and of course to Dr. Raiman that was able to immediately notice an abnormality that I had. Dr. Raiman identified a potential cancerous spot on me and was able to recommend and facilitate a very hard to get appointment with a highly renowned expert in the area to see me. I would have not known what specialist to trust without Dr. Raiman's recommendation, and I would not have been able to get in to see this specialist for a very long time, if not for Dr. Raiman's personal assistance on this. Dr. Raiman was correct in his diagnosis, as it was quickly confirmed by the specialist. Dr. Raiman could have at this point felt that he had done everything that he was supposed to do, and not stayed involved. However, the exact opposite happened. Dr. Raiman had me come back in to discuss the appointment with the specialist, and he prepared me for the surgery with the necessary blood tests and x-rays. Again, Dr. Raiman could have stopped there - but he continued to show that he cares. He called me and my wife several times to wish me the best and see if we needed anything, and he called before the surgery to wish me the best, and to set up a follow up visit. Thank you Dr. Raiman, you are truly a G-d Send, and we will be forever grateful for both, your exceptional medical care and for your exceptional warm and caring demeanor. read more

What a disappointment. I have gone to Dr. Raiman for a few years, and my family and extended family has been with him for even longer. He requested I get tests done in the office, and was told to wait 2 weeks for results. I heard the line "no news is good news, " but when it comes to my health, I ALWAYS follow up to make sure the results are good. I called the office 2 weeks to the day to follow up, and was told Dr. Raiman would call me back. I called the next day since he still hadn't called. I was again told "no news is good news," and that he returns calls in order of importance so I should just be patient. I got a call later from the secretary saying that the results hadn't been dictated yet, and to call the following Tuesday (3 weeks after test). I waited until that Tuesday, was told AGAIN "no news is good news," and that they would put another message on his desk. I didn't get a response so I called the next day, and was told to call back after the long weekend ahead (it was a Wednesday) because the office doing the dictation was closed and they wouldn't have results until the following Tuesday (4 weeks from test). I called again on that Tuesday, now very upset, and was told Dr. Raiman had all of my messages on his desk but that he returns calls based on importance, so I'd have to wait. I've requested the doctor have the nurse call me with the results if he is too busy, I've already paid my bill IN FULL, and even requested my medical records be readied for me to take to another office. To which I was told I'd have to get another physician to request my records. I didn't know I was not allowed to take my own medical records with me. I still can't get a single call back from the doctor for the tests he ordered I take at his office. This has caused emotional distress, to say the least, and who knows what kind of effect it has taken on my health. Do yourself a favor and find another physician. read more

He is a good and thorough doctor in some ways. I like his holistic approach and that he truly seems to care. However, he gave me some advice that was not researched and was detrimental to my health and wellbeing. In short, when I was going through post-partum depression he strongly advised against my taking medication as, he claimed, it would be extremely detrimental to my nursing child. And he strongly discouraged me from ceasing nursing. However, there are drugs that are considered safe for nursing mothers, which I had to learn about from other doctors after my condition did not resolve itself with the "long walks" (i'm not kidding) he prescribed. And I was at such a vulnerable state that his admonishment was exactly what I didn't need to hear. After having a second child I attempted to return to the practice but the office was brusque with me, saying that I was no longer considered an existing patient because I hadn't been seen in over a year. The reason for my long absence was that in the interim I had been pregnant and in the regular care of my obgyn. They said because I was considered a "new" patient I would be moved to the back of the waiting list and couldn't be seen for over a month. I was given this information in a tone of utter exhaustion and annoyance. I felt extremely unwelcome. I am seeking care elsewhere moving forward. Not worth it. I also remember the wait times in the 2 visits I had to the office previously were extreme. read more
