Well in this case, you can. Wanting a set of gel nails, I went here upon seeing it going to one of my fave little cafés just opposite (Cafe all in one). Although it looked bad, the prices in the door were cheap, they didn't look busy and I just really wanted to get them done while I had some time. It looked bad, it was cheap and they weren't busy for a reason. Not one of the Asian nail technicians spoke once to me in English, leaving me wondering what the hell they were talking about, getting animated about and frustratingly sometimes even laughing about. Halfway through I was left sitting there, abandoned by my technician for up to ten minutes before an old guy started taking over. Trying to find out what was going on, I think he communicated she had gone to lunch. Lovely! Needless to say the end result was nasty looking; and because it had been swapped half way through some were to the edge of my nail, others were not, and some fingers were even bleeding around the edge of the nails where they had filed back far too much. My fingers were pretty much rendered useless for the rest of that day and were painful to use for a couple after that. After about four weeks they started peeling and chipping away, my two smallest fingers on both hands nearly had their complete nails torn off because it was like the stupid gel had intertwined in some parts with my real nail, making it impossible to get off and impossibly painful if a piece of gel tore or ripped off, taking a piece of my real nail along with it. I'd pay double the $40 it cost me to have a pain free, mutually communicative experience...anytime.

I have been a client of Val's for over a decade and I highly recommend her and her work. The salon is above Max restaurant in Hardware Lane. Take the austere stairs up one flight and go into the salon there. She's great. Not open on Sundays or Mondays though.

Toe nail polish perfect, fingers could've been cleaned up a little, but no biggy. Smells just like a typical nail joint, but once they kept the door open I got over it. Much the same as most other Asian run nail salons, but it's around the corner from my hairdressers so I'll go back if I need to.

Walked out bleeding and crying with the worst nails I have ever gotten. Every nail is a different chunky thickness, shape and length. Acrylic is all over my skin and under my nails which is burning my open wounds. All Star Nails is an incredibly friendly, professional and clean space to get yo' nails did. Most recently I walked in off the street late in the afternoon and requested a shellac manicure. I was immediately seated, offered a bottle of water and one of the friendly gals got to work. EFFICIENCY! My nails are still crisp and clean, one week later with absolutely no signs of impending chips. The pedicures are just as speedy but equally as relaxing. Lay back in one of their giant, massaging seats and forget your worries and your cares. But what reflects most about the All Star ladies are their customers.
