I forgot about this photo until now. I took it last month at LAX international arrivals when I got back from New Zealand. Our flight captain let us know at takeoff that while we were due to the gate at 05:40, they could not let us off the plane until 06:00 when immigration opened. He added that there would probably be other international arrivals at the same time. He wasn't wrong. We arrived at the designated time and waited on board for 20 minutes. Doors opened and we started the long walk from the gate. Arriving at the immigration hall was an unmitigated cluster. In this image, you can see one hallway (mine) lining up for the three queues (Global Entry, regular Americans, foreigners) with another hallway entering from the right. No one directing traffic. Limited rope lines. Most people trying not to cut the queue (which was nice) but completely confused as to where to go to get in line. About the only thing I can say is that once I got to a kiosk, Global Entry worked like a charm. I feel for the thousand people crowded into that hallway (and more filing in by the minute) waiting to arrive in the USA. Their first experience and one star. We had a great experience with US Customs & Border Protection at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) thanks mainly to Global Entry: https://www.yelp.com/biz/global-entry-los-angeles. At $100 for five years, I think signing up for Global Entry is a no-brainer. The convenience and time savings are worth it. The price for Global Entry, which includes TSA PreCheck (PreCheck alone is $85), hasn't gone up for many years so it's a better value now more than ever. Some credit cards cover both Global Entry and TSA PreCheck enrollment fees. Examples include the Bank of America Premium Rewards Card, the Capital One Venture Rewards Card, and the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card. We flew Air Tahiti Nui into LAX and deplaned at Gate 221 in the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT / Terminal B). We walked the long, clean, air-conditioned tunnels from the West Gates over to customs and immigration in the east/main part of Terminal B. Before going through Global Entry, I stopped to use the men's room right before the standard immigration line. The men's room was clean. When my wife and I walked up to the Global Entry kiosks, most were available for immediate use. Before I could even follow the instructions to remove my glasses and mask and scan my passport, an agent said, "Daniel, you're good to go." She waved me through. Crazy fast. My wife was delayed by maybe 10 seconds because the agent informed her that her new passport wasn't synced with her Global Entry account. The agent told her she could get that resolved by talking to the Global Entry staff near Terminal B Baggage Claim Carousel 1. That process was quick and easy and you can read about it in my review for Global Entry linked in the first paragraph above. After going through Global Entry, we took the escalators down to Level 1 Baggage Claim, grabbed our one piece of checked luggage, and proceeded to follow the signs and exit the airport. There was no customs process for us. No bag screening or anything like that. Also, on the way back from Tahiti, we didn't have to fill out any forms on the airplane or at the airport. Got randomly screened for secondary inspection after travel from China. Officers gave me a full course including checking all my electronic devices and carry on and checked luggage. They did it very professionally, gently inspected all my stuff and let me put them back also help me to repack, re tape my luggages. Officer Williams and officer Chen were very professionally treated me and my belongings. I think many of them are doing a great job and deserve some good words! read more

Would give 0 stars if I could, CBP at LAX is horrible. Agent Raget (ID 18371) racial profiles. Just wanted to share so that people are aware and know what they might expect when traveling. I recently went abroad (Europe) and returned on 1/11/26. Upon leaving the airport in Europe I was questioned by a TSA agent who informed "I noticed that you have an American passport and have to ask follow-up questions." She was very pleasant, asked me very general questions, and wished me safe travels. However, when I got to LAX, I got my bags, passed through TSA and got to customs,border, and control. The agent (Raget was her last name and ID 18371) was extremely rude and unprofessional. While walking up before interaction, I saw her look me up and down. She then stopped me and said, "I need to see your passport. " I thought this was weird due to already passing through TSA and showing my passport there. She then proceeded to ask me questions like, "Were you born here?" I replied you have my passport and also I already went through TSA. Her reply, " Just because I have your passport doesn't mean you were born here and follow me, I need to search you." As she started going through my bags, I asked, "Just curious as to why you chose me?" I travel a lot and have never had this happen. This is when her tone became extremely defensive and rude. I then informed, "This seems like a situation that needs to be recorded, while I took out my phone." She then proceeded to get aggressive and inform that I can't record her and that she would have to get her supervisor. She never went to get her supervisor until the end and after I persisted due to her unprofessionalism. I also asked numerous times for her name and identification, which she kept brushing off by saying, "I'll give it to you later." She gave me an ID number and then said, "That's all you need." When I saw her supervisor, he explained that she was in wrong and that he would talk to her. He also gave me her last name. This was a racial profiling incident, I will be filing numerous complaints. I want everyone to be aware of what's going on at LAX. She also wrote something down when she had my passport before getting her supervisor. read more

Zero indication of where to go for mobile passport control. I asked two people and both told me to stand in the long line. At the front of the line, the guy told me that I could have skipped the lines. A sign would be nice or at least a functional human directing traffic. read more

No real complaints. I went here for my trusted traveler / global entry interview. I had a 5:15 appointment and because you can never know how long it will take to get to LAX, I arrived about 45 minutes early. When you walk up, you might see a group of people standing outside of the entry area. If they are out there, they probably have already checked in and are waiting to have their name called. So you may want to ask them first but you need to check in to make sure they know you are there. After you check in, you need to stand close to that area so you can hear when they call your name. This can be challenging as the airport has a speaker right above the information booth blasting out announcements about passengers about to miss their flights. They don't use a speaker to call out names for the interviews, they just use their voice. As I did arrive early, they were able to see me about 15 minutes early so that was appreciated. It is recommended you bring the pre-approval letter they emailed you but it is not required. Bring your driver's license, your passport and proof of residency at your current location. Also, bring your knowledge of where you have lived and where you have worked in the last 5 years. Be sure to know your legal history for both domestic and international events. But, if all goes as planned, you will be in and out in less than 15 minutes. As written in other reviews, it is currently located on the upper, departure level of Tom Bradley. Of note, as of November 5, 2018, they are moving. Be prepared and it should be a breeze. Good luck and enjoy! read more

This is for the custom and immigration in LAX airports. Rude and ignorance team working here in their office. They bring me from the counter to their other room saying they have to verify some document (I am a US citizen) They were rude and communicated with finger signal, like giving a pet signal. Waiving finger to ask me to sit. They make me wait until almost everyone after me are done. I am talking about 8 person when I come in and another 7 person came in after me, they were all done, my wait total wait time were 1 hour and 15 min just inside this itself. Some people were even interviewed because of Visa issues. When I asked if this handled by order and the officer coldly answer your passport is not on the board anymore, whatever that means. I saw 4 to 5 officers working but 2 officer works and 2 other chatting, laughing while tired passangers after long flight ( 11 hours in my case) must wait infront of them and saw this charrade. Passanger's family must wait, in my case my 2 children must wait for this terrible abused of power. Asked me when did I get my citizenship etc, rudely, talking laughing to one while attending me. Asked me unnecessary question, Don't they have the system to verify? what kind of question is that? When did I get my citizenship? What is this, racial profiling? Don't even know anymore. No records, no bad history in my file. At least treat people with respect. We are all human. You happen to be one have they saying but no need of that rudeness, hand signaling, like we are animal. We can speak english. Not even apologizing. Is this the real reason LAX do not allow photography? Maybe this isn't the first thought that comes to mind when you're dive bar crawling in DTLA, especially if you were actually born right here in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, but when was the last time you returned to the U.S. from traveling out of the country? A hostile encounter with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol can totally change your perspective. According to their web site, the CBP "is one of the Department of Homeland Security's largest and most complex components, with a priority mission of keeping terrorists and their weapons out of the U.S. It also has a responsibility for securing and facilitating trade and travel while enforcing hundreds of U.S. regulations, including immigration and drug laws". A couple of decades before Yelp's debut on Al Gore's Internet, I spent a week in Cabo San Lucas working on my tan, deep-sea fishing, and drinking cervezas. Because I worked so hard at drinking cervezas, I didn't do very well with the deep-sea fishing, but I did such an outstanding job getting tan that if you didn't know me you'd have sworn my surname was Garcia. It was hot enough to melt Dick Cheney's original heart the whole time my buddy and I were in Cabo, so when it finally came time to fly back to the US of A, I was wearing nothing but totally beat cut-off denim shorts, a muscle-t, and my trade-mark aviator shades. All I needed was a machete in one hand and an open bottle of Cuervo Gold in the other to totally complete the picture. Unfortunately for me, the CBP Officer who asked to see my passport didn't think my ensemble needed any additional accessories - he got what he thought was the picture right away, and had me taken into a room where I could be asked a series of seemingly random, Kafkaesque "questions": CBP Officer: "Stop. Who would cross the Bridge of Death must answer me these questions three, ere the other side he see. What is your name?" Me: "Arthur, King of the Britains" CBP Officer: "What is your quest"? Me: "I seek the Holy Grail!" CBP Officer: What is the average air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?" Me: "Would that be an African, or a European swallow?" CBP Officer: "I don't know that - AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! (falls into the Gorge of Eternal Peril) Me: (Exit, stage left) It's a good thing I saw Monty Python and the Holy Grail, or I'd probably still be rotting in a Mexican jail after being wrongfully deported as an Illegal Alien. Fortunately for me, Yelp and my smartphone conspired to script an entirely different CBP experience for me the last time I returned to the U.S. from overseas. A while back, I had been on Roatan (one of the Bay Islands off the coast of Honduras) enjoying its tropical weather and fabulous snorkeling. I had two major complaints about Roatan - the food was generally awful, with service so slow it made what I had previously learned to call "Island Time" on Hawaii look like what Usain Bolt sprinting at top speed with the wind at his back is to an 84 year-old Grandmother running uphill on crutches - there's simply no comparison. My other major complaint about Roatan is Yelp - there isn't any; it's totally off the Yelp map. No check-ins, and (much more importantly) no reviews! Because of this, I was reduced to consulting random passers-by, taxi drivers, and even (perish the thought!) Trip Advisor for thoughts about which restaurants to try; a highly unsatisfying experience. After almost two weeks of no Yelp (and no cell service, for that matter), I was totally ready to check-in SOMEWHERE when we got off the plane and started to make our way through customs. With my smartphone clutched in my left hand as I navigated through baggage retrieval (so they can examine your luggage before you enter the country if you have something controversial to declare or if you look in any way dubious), I paused periodically to see if I could find the check-in listing for the CBP station I was in. The combination of what I was doing, my intent expression, and my somewhat more upscale ensemble (denim cut-offs just don't do it for me any more) totally convinced the CBP Officer who took my Declaration form without my having to say a word; he took one look at me, smiled broadly and said "welcome back!" then pointed me toward the exit door. The men and women of the CBP work hard to protect the people of the United States from terrorist threats and illegal immigration, but they sometimes rely on instinct alone to short-cut threat identification procedures. The US Customs & Border Protection at LAX are horrible to put it nicely. We just finished a 3 week European Vacation, traveled to several countries went through several Customs and were in and out quickly. I think the longest line we (family of 4) waited in was maybe 5 mins. Heathrow, as busy and crowded as it is, was a breeze, along with all the other international airports. We arrived into LAX (our home) on a Wednesday from Heathrow, midday, to an absolute unorganized cluster F!!! The Customs agent Lopez, was rude and disrespectful to the 3 large plane loads of people that arrived all at the same time. He was yelling at the large group to get in line... there were no lines!! It was a sea of people, you would think with all the technology available today that they would be able to plan better, It was embarrassing. They were obviously WAY understaffed and the lines were ridiculous. It took us 30 mins to get from the airplane then through Customs, I felt bad for those who were not US citizens, as those lines were INSANE!!! I bet it took minimum 1-2 hours for them to get through, I can not believe how unorganized it all was. Then to finally get outside and there were ZERO traffic control people around to keep the traffic moving. LAX is awful!!! LAX needs better management. read more

Recently we applied for Global Entry for the entire family and everything went smooth. We checked in at 7:30 pm and were out by 8:00 pm. Everything is pretty much by the book and what is indicated on their website. You need to make an appointment via online in order to process your interview. TIPS: Bring all necessary documents requested and do not go there empty handed. read more

My wife and I travel all over the world (so far, 65 countries and still counting); however, our OWN CUSTOMS EMPLOYEES are probably one of the TOP THREE WORST customer service that we've experienced (including those TSA morons). I wouldn't hire most of these idiots to staff my restaurant if I had one! What the hell are CBP supervisors doing to train their employees on how to properly conduct interviews on passengers who are already tired and exhausted after traveling for more than 6 to 12 hours! I have worked for the federal government for 17 years after retiring from the military and I can assure you that government employees can still be efficient and effective in performing their duties while still being NICE AND COURTEOUS to travelers! Their GESTAPO customer service training must cease and start treating us travelers decently as we deserve!!!! If they cannot handle the stress of their jobs, then they should start looking for another one where they do not have to face their clients (maybe cleaning and scrubbing the commodes). I just hope CBP does read and take action of all these negative remarks and not merely "sweep them under the rug". read more

Updating. After a couple week trip to S.America (returning January '14) it was more of the same here. The customs agent literally threw my passport back at me. Then he proceeds to take it back hastily and ask 'you have the exact same name as my dentist... do you know Dave C in Cerritos?' No reply. I'm dreading it again upon returning from a month travels to SE Asia (returning a few days ago) and there was lots of improvement. I have Global Entry and trusted traveler status. On May 19, 2020, I arrived at LAX on a flight from Qatar. My Global Entry was rejected and the customs officer told me go sit on some plastic chairs with two men who were on my flight. I asked why I had been stopped. No answer - the border patrol officers treated me like a criminal. Two hours later my luggage had been very thoroughly searched, and I'd been asked over and over if I was sure that I'd never been stopped before. I haven't. I'm a professor and a scientist, and the supervisor implied that I had been targeted BECAUSE I'm a scientist. I remain troubled - why would they not tell me why I had been stopped? Why treat me like I was guilty of something? If it was a random practice, why not tell me? And, if true, why scientists? I recommend training agents in transparency and respect. What should have been a minor inconvenience- a random search, practice for new agents, perhaps, was exhausting - I'd just gotten off a 16-hour flight, and I was adapted to a 12 hour time difference. One tiny bright spot was the fact that they let my husband make a cell phone call to tell our driver that we would be very very late. Without that courtesy, we would have had to find another way to get home to San Diego...and I was so tired. read more

I hope what I have to say doesn't end me up on some border patrol hit list but I absolutely hate going through customs, especially U.S. Customs where I've generally found the agents to be less than welcoming, rude, arrogant and anything but polite or friendly. However, I must say that I found this particular one to be a pleasant exception from my past experiences. The lines moved quickly, everything was well automated, the agents actually helpful and with something I've never seen on any custom agents face before, a friendly welcoming home smile. This review is for the interview office for global entry at LAX. It was absolutely fast and efficient and professional, 5 stars for sure. Other reviewers gave fewer stars because they are commenting on the online appointment scheduling portion of this process and difficulty they've had scheduling appointments for the near future. That is something else entirely. While I agree it is not perfect, rest assured that new appointment times become available very frequently. After only one week of checking the scheduling website once or twice a day for a better time slot I was able to reschedule my appointment from nine months out to six months to four months to only three weeks. As for the Global Entry office at LAX, I showed up 30 minutes late for my appointment and they took me right in. The gentleman I worked with was 100% professional, to the point, and respectful. The entire interview lasted maybe five minutes and included a few general questions, a photograph, and fingerprinting. Even after finding a parking space, walking to the terminal and walking back to my car I pulled out of the parking structure exactly 15 minutes after pulling in, so quickly that the gate agent handed me back my three dollars and did not charge me. My advice would be to drive to the arrivals level, pull into the parking structure for the Tom Bradley terminal and after parking follow the walking signs to the terminal. You'll walk across a foot bridge/entrance ramp for cars entering the structure from the departures level, walk into the set of doors directly in front of you and the office will be to your left. Another piece of advice, don't stress if you're running late or kill yourself to arrive on time or early for your appointment. They certainly didn't seem to care for me, there were more than enough agents to help and there was no one waiting in line for their appointment. It was a 100% stress-free experience. read more

Super great experience for Global Entry! Like Hannah, I had a difficult time finding out where to go (one security person gave me wrong directions and another told me they didn't even have a Global Entry office). Rest assured, it's in the International Terminal. Walk through the doors and depending on which door you enter, it's either immediately to your right or left along the wall of the entrance next to the Currency counter. I parked on the roof in the parking structure for Terminal 3, took the jet bridge to level 4, walked down a flight of stairs to level 3 and out the door to the International Terminal (next terminal to the right). I'm sure there are easier ways to get there but those are fool proof instructions for people that are prone to getting lost (aka: me). Parking was indeed $3 and when you exit, it gives you quick directions on how to exit the airport. My appointment was for 8:20pm and I arrived right on the dot since it was the last appointment of the day. They took me immediately and the entire process last less than 10 mins (would have been less but they were having some computer difficulties). I sat with Officer Kennedy who was super nice. Just answer a few questions and upon approval, they'll tell you how to use the kiosks. Incidentally, when I first signed up for Global Entry, I was conditionally approved but the soonest LAX appointment wasn't until September! I checked back a week later and found many more spots within the same month. I also set up an appointment for my husband and instead of waiting, I just set an appointment in September and came back the next day to 'reschedule'... lo and behold, plenty of appointment times MUCH sooner (within the same month of conditional approval). All in all, a really good experience that will hopefully pay off during long customs lines coming back into the country. read more

March 14th 2018, while traveling to Nice, France, I was randomly chosen to be questioned/searched before boarding the plane. Officer Silva from LAX asked me "where do You work, what do you do, where do you live, how old are you?" and many more invasive questions that I noticed the other passengers weren't being asked. He then begins to search my book bag with severe intensity (taking every item out) while the other officers were only merely taking a very quick look in other passengers carry-ons. I have a chronic pain condition and I take medication that is legally prescribed to me. The medication was in its original bottle and my name was on the original label. The bottles had various dates on them because those were the days I was scheduled to take it. For example, one bottle had 3/16/18 printed because it was indicated that I take the medication on that date. Officer Silva was told about the medication and what it was being taken for. Officer Silva proceeds to scrutinize the medication and requested for my checked in luggage to be taken of the plane to be searched. Meanwhile, the plane leaves. It takes 11 hours to get to Germany, where I was connecting to a flight to Nice, France. Officer Silva than proceeds to take me to the border patrol offices so he could call the Dr. to have my medication verified. At the office I was throughly searched, humiliated by having to my private parts touched and prodded, and treated like a criminal when Im only a law-abiding registered nurse trying to go on a vacation. The time was after 6pm and most Dr. offices are closed so he had to call an after hours number and wait until the Dr. on Call returned the phone call. My condition is exacerbated by stress, and this was a very stressful situation, and I began to have chest pains. The paramedics were called but unfortunately since I was detained, I didn't and legally couldn't leave my medication therefore I was unable to go to hospital. The paramedics could not take me to the hospital I was treated regularly either. Officer Silva proceeded to ask me the exact same questions he asked while at the gate "how do you take this, what is the dose, who prescribed this medication?" He asked these same questions several times. Officer Silva than starts talking to the paramedics asking them about my medication. The paramedics leave, I'm still having chest pain but it had subsided to a tolerable level at this time. I was then released from detainment without the Dr calling back completing the investigation without an apology as if I was going somewhere domestically and could just get on the next plane in 30 mins. I would have felt a little better if the medication was verified by the Dr and not like this 1 hour ordeal was not a waste of time and money. I had just missed me flight to Germany, where I was going to continue to France, a hotel day that was paid for and a full day of excursions that was also prepaid. It was going to take another day of my vacation to get to France. I was only going for 4 days (including the 11 hours of travel time) so half of my vacation was missed for nothing. I had wasted valuable time and money on an investigation that was not even completed! I was just released as if it wasn't a big deal. Officer Silva then proceeds to blame the airline for me getting off boarded, as if he wasn't the person that stopped me from boarding to search my bag. I don't want to play the race card but I was the only black female on the plane the only one thoroughly searched. No one else's belongings were taken out of their bags and scrutinized. I don't know if I didn't look like the type of person who just go to France to vacation for a couple of days and looked like someone transporting drugs. I hope NO person of color OR NO one period has to be put through this very humiliating/wasteful experience. I've never been arrested,they ran my name for warrants also, so I've never experienced being searched on that level before or treated in that manner. I didn't even deserve an apology. read more

Located over by the TBIT information booth, the Customs and Border Patrol office is where you come for passport, customs, immigrations and related issues. I was here for my Global Entry interview and everyone I came in contact with was incredibly nice, friendly and informative. Painless process is getting my GE interview, fingerprints taken and shown how to use the kiosk. You probably don't ever want to do anything to annoy the CBP so obey US Customs and Immigration laws (and other countries for that matter) and hopefully you'll never have to interact with anyone of these guys. But if you do, know the officers are friendly and will do what they can to help you. read more

I encourage you to sign up to make an appt (may take weeks) to get your GOES. Global Entry looks like a no-brainer, if you travel by plane to Mexico/Canada (but just USA pre check is cool), and they are friendly and easy to find. You just have to go to LAX! Then the Tom Bradley Terminal. I must admit, I have posted a couple things that question the president, nothing horrible, but/and thought they might bug me about that...all for naught. The standard procedure in this situation is to present both at the point-of-entry. The officer stamped the valid-until-date of 2016, based on the expiry of my stamped visa. When I pointed out that my I-797A is valid till 2017, he became confused and did not know what to do. He asked for me to be escorted to the secondary processing office. The new officer saw all my documents and AGAIN stamped my passport with the SAME date of 2016. He said that he cannot give me the I-797A date since my visa is valid only till 2016. I spoke to my attorney and I was asked to get it corrected at the Deferred CBP office in San Francisco. I eventually had to spend half a work-day traveling to San Francisco from South Bay California, $40 in gas and parking and 30 min with a rude woman CBP officer to eventually get the date corrected. Is this the kind of training that the US government provides it's CBP officers using my tax money? I followed ALL procedures and had ALL the right documents and you expect me to believe that the CBP officers are not trained to carry out such a simple and clerical job? Is CBP going to refund me half-a-day of salary and $40 for their incompetence? read more

On my last international trip, I bought a new watch on my way home. Not wanting to risk getting fined and/or my nice shiny watch confiscated, I declared my new watch on the customs form. Going thru immigration wasn't too bad, but once in the customs area I felt like I was in a PearlJam mosh pit in the mid 90's. Wall to wall people trying to figure out which baggage carousel their bags are on. But actually the worst part is the line to exit customs that snakes around the inside of the building. I feign ignorance and just pick a spot in the middle of the line and just cut in. I get to the front and the customs officer looks at my form, says to me I owe some money and points me to another, but at least very short line. At the second line, the officer asks me what I'm doing there. I said the other guy told me to stand here, so here I am. He looks on my form and says oh it must be your watch. The officer asked me where I got it, I said Singapore. He said good, that means its not fake. He took a quick look at my new watch said I will have to pay some money and to have a seat. Meanwhile I watched 3 customs officers try to figure out what I owe. After about 20 minutes the customs officer says I owe $100. I'm thinking what? That's it? You spent a man hour to figure out I owe $100? Why do you even bother to collect it? Still I happily pay because $100 duty on a nice watch is a good deal and it's not worth getting caught for only $100. read more

Came back from Mexico and had to go thru Customs here. Very efficient and fast. Computers helped to speed it up. We are traveling on a Wednesday, so that may be part. The baggage check guys were even friendly and joking with us. Made it more pleasurable to deal with the dreaded :). Wish Mexico customs had been as efficient. read more

This guys are complete morons at least 1,000 in line with 3 idiot's at the booth... and this is for U.S. passport holders. The line zig zagged all over the place totally randomly. The system did so much better than the last few years as I've been getting in and out of US, it's one of the staff that works there I'm writing the review about. This guys is a Customs agent who's in charge of checking the documents. I didn't get to remember the name but he is the fairly young African American with a hair net that was just doing a power trip. No greeting when I got to him. No hello nor good morning, nothing. He asked for my documents and gave him everything but he just said your passport doesn't say anything. true. (That's why I'm getting my green card out of my pocket). After that, no thank you's, no have a nice day, He was so rude. It's like he hates his job, how he does his work and demeanor just tells he enjoys being rude.or doing what he thinks he has the right to scare you getting in of the country. Advice: Be respectful. Be accommodating. you are the face of Customs. Not because you check documents give you the right to intimidate people. If you don't like welcoming people, ask your supervisor to not place you in that position you're at. Because you were really rude. And US Customs is the one getting bad reviews because of you. read more

Came here for our Global Entry Interview. Appt at 1:45 we were seen earlier 1:30 (so happy wanted to beat rush hour traffic) and we were done by 1:45. So nice so fast and easy. Being a government agency you expect long waits and serious faces but the experience was great. Friendly, fast and professional. These reviews posted here look positively fake. Coming through the Customs and Border Patrol at LAX has always been a very unpleasant experience for me, and I'm a U.S. born citizen. Long lines and extremely rude staff, who often yell at patrons trying to get through as painlessly as possible. The signs proudly proclaim, they are the "face" of America. However, This being the face of America is embarrassing to me. After being passed through the first checkpoint, a second checker pointed at me. I asked if he needed my papers or my ID. He rolled his eyes and yelled at me, he needs both, as if I should somehow be able to read his mind. They have always been rude and rough, with people who are clearly not target "suspects." I can only think US Customs at LAX are a detriment to US tourism or at least, how we are viewed to incoming visitors. read more

Worst ever service from mr. Lee at the customs. Even we are US citizen, He questioned us our job title, company name, how long we have been with current company. Hello, Is that a job interview or just a port that suppose to welcome citizen back? In the end, He just hand over our passport back to us without a word. came here for my global entry interview. had a bit of trouble finding the office, but basically if you enter the international terminal, turn right and the office will be on your right. i arrived about 20 minutes early to my appointment but there was an available interviewer so i was seen immediately. the process only took about 10 minutes and everyone there was nice. the parking structure is $3 for the first hour. parking was a hot mess, so i recommend just driving up to the roof because there were tons of spots up there. also, getting out of the parking structure took about 30 minutes so that sucked. some guy cut in front of me so the dude behind me got out and tried to fight him. On this Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 27) I want to give praise to the Customs service in LAX that I experienced on November 25. I had complained bitterly about Customs at LAX in the past and, upon debarking Virgin Atlantic Flight 07 on this day, I exchanged disparaging remarks with fellow passengers about the impending agony. So it was a pleasant surprise that things seem to have taken a turn for the better. About 50 people were ahead of me in the line for U.S. citizens, but the line moved at a good pace, with 3 agents at work at their stations. It took me 20 minutes to get through, a vast improvement over the hour(s)-long wait in the past. I noticed that ( I think) a female supervisor was walking around in the area, and perhaps that is one of the factors for the improvement. The area was also free of the clutters and congestion that I dreaded in the past. Kudos to whomever is responsible for the improvements! Please keep up the good work. read more
