It is now a 24 hour store. In the Summer of 2008 it extended onto the University playing fields, with many protests from local people. It offers a Clothing Department, Garage, Tesco Direct, Pharmacy and an instore bakery. There are also lots of toys on offer. The car park is huge and there are plenty of Car Parking facilities for disabled people.

The prices again are generally good, however the quality of products may vary. On occasion they do have some absolutely amazing products on sale, these can be few and far between though. Finally it must be noted that the tills (or checkouts) are the most frustrating in the world, firstly there's usually only ever one open so you spending most of your time in the store standing in the most depressing line in the world as you wait to pay for your 1 item. Secondly, when you have finally managed to reach front of the queue, the staff usually make a habit of opening a till right next to you (making your whole ordeal pointless) while the person serving you throws you items halfway towards the door. what joy.

It also sells chilled soft drinks, sweets and chocolates (which on hot days you might even find beside the Lucozade in the fridge) and crisps. The selection of the latter is a little disappointing but I am pleased to say there was a strong showing from McCoys - which are the go-to crisp-of-choice when I find myself caught in potato snack related indecision. They house a Western Union machine so you can wire money from here and receive said monies if you are so lucky. They also sell lovely postcards of the city which you could always send to your friends and family to let them know of all the incredible fun you're having in Liverpool. There aren't any postcards with "Greetings from...Victoria News" on them though - with a shot of the newspaper racks and the ice cream cabinet. Frankly this seems like a marketing opportunity missed.

Since the Tesco in Swindon has a huge selection of American items, I thought that this store might offer the same. I am planning to make a Thanksgiving dinner and need some American items to ensure authenticity :). There is a large car park, however, if there is a football game on, you may want to stay away from this area due to traffic. The store is huge and was quite busy on Saturday afternoon. There are ATMs outside of the store, as well as a dry cleaning service. Walking inside the store actually made me feel like I was in a Wal-Mart Supercenter. It is huge! There is a cafe, salon, electronics section, beauty counter like those in a department store, bakery, and a health store. We continued straight on and went through the toys, home goods, and electronic sections. If you head to the right you'll eventually find the food section. Of course we did get a bit sidetracked and ended up getting a slow cooker since it was on sale (we will be returning it as when we plugged it in, it blew the fuse for everything in our apartment). I also got to look at Christmas decorations and saw a nice laptop for a reasonable price to replace my iBook dinosaur. Eventually we got over to the food section. The problem with me trying to do a shop in a new store is that I get distracted trying to look at everything on offer. Unfortunately this is not compatible with Mr. Snarky and I should have sent him back over to the electronics. What I like about the store, is that while it is very busy, it is very spacious so it doesn't feel like sardines in a can and making shopping a little easier. While they do offer a lot and all of the usual items, I was a bit disappointed with their World Foods Area. The first was the rice aisle which consisted mainly of Basmati rice with a couple bags of glutinous rice. For a 'World Foods' section, they should have more selection of rice and as a result I didn't get the rice that I was looking for. They do offer a lot of European foods, but the selection from other countries is not as large, including the American section. I did get the pumpkin for my pumpkin pie and pumpkin roll, but the other items that I was looking for and stocked by the Tesco in Swindon were not available. I did like that they have a 'Free From' section for those with intolerances or allergies... and it seems fairly extensive. Check out was a bit slow, but no massive queues. Besides self-checkout, they do have the scan-as-you-shop scheme as well. It is a nice store, though, very clean, well stocked, and has almost everything you could want.

It also has a cafe, a salon, a Timpson dry cleaner/key cutter, and a petrol station, as well as an on-site recycle centre. As it is quite a large and busy store, there can be quite a problem with queuing at the tills, and due to being a 24 hour store, late night shopping can see many internal lights turned off, as well as lots of cages of stock all over the place down most aisles, making access tricky. NOTE: On Bolton Wanderers match days, there is a three hour limit to be parked in their car park, after which, you can receive a £70 fine.

It also gets an honourable mention for having its own car parking (invaluable if you're on your way somewhere else after you pop in) a decent selection of magazines and magazines and for competing on staples like bread, milk and bacon (does bacon count as a staple? This is another example of how superstores are now catering for almost everything you may want…read more Despite having almost the same products at, mostly, very similar prices to the ASDA which is within spitting distance (Yeuch!), both store carparks are usually full and the owners of the cars almost always in the shops spending money. They stock all the usual Tesco goods plus clothes, toys, household items, white goods, in fact, almost everything could want to buy on a normal afternoon shopping trip. The checkouts are efficient and the supervisors are often on hand to guide you to the least busy till. All of the staff have, in my experience, shown themselves interested in doing their jobs with as much cheerfulness as they can.

The things I like best about this particular store is that its not too large in size; Ive been to some branches of Tesco and they seem to be too big. The walk from toilet rolls to beans seems to be miles long! I get lost in them! But theres no danger of that in this Tesco because its just the right size! Theres a nice cafe and the toilets are always clean and looked after which is an added bonus. I think others would agree with me because I find its always so busy!!

Northwich has made it. We've got a Waitrose…read more My humble home town is undergoing a big redevelopment and the first shiny new building to pop up was a Waitrose. It's light, clean, airy, always well stocked and the staff are friendly. My Waitrose card and I often visit for the daily free hot drink. There are several machines around the shop or you can take advantage of the freebie in the cafe at the rear of the store. There's even a trolly park, like a grocery creche, to mind your items while you're supping a well deserved peppermint tea. Nothing can replace the beloved Regal Cinema that was bulldozed to make way for it but the sadness alleviates with every free tea.

This Tesco Express could not be more perfect in situation, location & products!…read more Went up to Liverpool for the 2008 Biennial & were scheduled to stay at Mount Pleasant Apartments Given this is an actual condo / hotel, one expects to have to purchase all the necessities needed to "live" Tesco to the rescue! Not only was Mount Pleasant Apts close to Tesco, it was literally **right** above it. Toiletries, cleansers, food, snacks - you name it, Tesco's got it & prices are spot-on No heavy bags to schlep for ever & ever; no whim or craving unfulfilled.....WAY too easy to go overboard! .....let's just say that the people staying in the Apt after us got to enjoy an unopened Quart of Haagen Dazs, courtesy of us! (hope it was good!)

However, people can't deny how handy these places are, because they are often open later than local businesses, they have plenty of stock and are very convenient for all your grocery needs! This Brownlow hill branch is a great little lifesaver as it stays open late and it stocks everything a local student could need. It's slightly more expensive than the big Tesco superstore in Liverpool One, but it opens later and it opens 7 days. They reduce all their sandwiches mid afternoon and place them on trolleys by their tills/ this is great as it's about the time that most students will be getting out of bed and they can score their breakfast and lunch in an all day breakfast sandwich for about 60p! They are fully stocked with cigarettes, alcohol and magazines.. Perfect for a lazy Sunday, or any day if you're a doley!
