It's large from the outside; however, the interior waiting area (where the line is to get a post person to help you) is rather small-ish. I'm sure the rest of the space is put to good use as I understand this location is a postal "Distribution Center" and they appear to have a sizeable amount of post office boxes. I've only used this post office for mailing items or using their blue bins out front. I haven't used their post office boxes or passport services at this location. I found the staff to be just fine and never had any problems at this post office. I like this location and even though it's on a busy street, Wall Triana Highway, it's not too difficult to pull in heading south in the parking lot, drop off items in the blue bins outside, and then turn left to go north and depart.

I grew up around the corner, and this was our "go to" post office growing up. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. I don't recall it having a weigh-your-own package scale here. Since my husband works, I'm at home with our children, and we share a car, it is almost impossible to do anything outside of doctor's appointments during the week. This office needs to clarify their process on google and on their website since it's clear that this is a common issue. From start to finish the process was smooth and orderly. I was treated with respect and privacy, well as much privacy as you can have when mass vaccinating in a 'Community Room.' It appeared that the majority of the care providers were nursing students from UAB. These ladies and gentlemen did an outstanding job. Thank you for taking on an honorable profession and thank you to the regular staff of the health department. This operation was obviously well thought out. Totally worth the drive than having to wait a couple hours or half a day at the local HSV office. If you don't know about the REAL ID Act... Effective January 22, 2018, air travelers with a driver's license or identification card issued by a state that does not meet the requirements of the REAL ID Act (unless that state has been granted an extension to comply with the Act) must present an alternative form of identification acceptable to TSA in order to board a commercial domestic flight. Over the next two years, those states that are not REAL ID compliant are strongly encouraged to meet the requirements of the law for the benefit of their residents. Upon successfully getting through the metal detectors on the 1st floor, the license office is forward and to your left, then the first door on RT. Be prepared to read a lot of signs, but don't fret. You're in the right place. ;D There will be a screen to check-in at to obtain a # specific to your visit. STAR*IDs (whether drivers license or non-driving ID) are on the 1st floor in that office where one gets their #. DL renewals are on 2nd floor. Appointments are recommended, but who wants to wait 2-3 weeks out, right?! Came in here recently to get a STAR*ID drivers license since I lost mine, and was quite pleased w my experience. From the officers at the front scanning machine / metal detectors to the worker (Michelle B.) who assisted me, all were genuinely kind and respectful! If you present yourself w respect & kindness to others, it'll be mirrored back to you here. Though don't take kindness as naive or weakness. They're tough cookies here yet respectful. In nice weather Colsa hosted parking lot Friday socials and provided things like Cokes and hot dogs for everyone to enjoy while we visited. The Advanced Research Center (ARC) was built next door and I never had internal business there; however, I did go check out the small-ish lobby area when necessary. Colsa management were all extremely professional approachable people who really listened to you and provided useful feedback, suggestions and guidance! This evidently was a rocket commissioned by NASA for the Apollo program. Pretty cool And obscure thing to check out when traveling through Alabama. Very visible from both sides of the expressway. However if headed into Alabama from Tennessee you can pull into the rest stop and walk up and get an up close and personal view of the rocket. Overall very cool and fun roadside attraction that is unlike anything I've seen. I always look forward to checking this out when entering the state of Alabama.
