EXPERIENCE: Parking: You can pull over but there is plaza parking. Feels: It was near the corner of the intersection. Depending on the season or time of day it can have a flow of people. The spot itself is nothing too special. Straight business so no room to hang out. The signs were a bit worn down and the Post-A-Nut items weren't as promotable. However, they do provide sharpies at the post office and you can work on them in your car or sit on the grass. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Fantastic! Friendly people and very knowledgeable. OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Fantastic! Friendly and patient employees. A good activity and solid service. I appreciate the story behind Post-A-Nut and I wish Gary and the rest of the team the best. Tips: - DUE TO COVID BRING YOUR OWN COCONUT. I got a fallen one from Coconut Grove. - When drawing on the coconut - save 1/3 for drawing, 1/3 for your address, and 1/3 for stamps. - https://postanut.com/

I think the way it works is that on one side you put your shipping address and on the other side you put your paintings and drawings. Pretty cool concept, though!

Mailing options... I…read moredo have mail I send out to friends on the mainland and using the USPS Priority Flat Rate Box always makes it so fast and easy to send as whatever fits pretty much fits is a set rate as the medium box max weight of 70lbs is quite hefty. With that the box also has a peel and stick closer on each end is a breeze to seal without any additional tape is the best way for me personally and don't let the size fool you as it fits quite a bit of items. All ready to go I had my parcels in the car and since I was in the area decided to find the nearest Post Office which was quite easy though getting in there if you don't know like I didn't is a one way entrance but as it was a mellow day it didn't matter as I walked in and was surprised how spacious it was loved that they also have the Self-Service Kiosk which makes it easy to ship printing out the mailing label as well so you don't have to write on the box. There's a chute there as well to drop your box in but for some reason it was jammed but luckily they were open so I was able to give it to counter clerk but since postage was paid it could've been dropped anywhere but love this convenient location in Kailua. Thank you!

I drove down to our local Kailua Post Office and waited patiently in line to be waited on by a delightful clerk named "Kauwela" that was manning the entire 4 window counter by herself on a very busy Saturday morning. Her patience, professionalism and consistent friendly customer service, made my wait worth while. There were several customers in front of me that she treated equally with a friendly greeting, patient understanding and exceptional customer service. When my time to be served happened, I explained that I was here to pick up my package, showing her my pink slip that gave instructions to pay for pick up of my package. Kauwela quickly identified that the $32.00 fee was excessive, because the top flaps had a slight gap when taped together. She then removed the $32.00 fee explaining in detail how to insure this type of fee would not take place in the future by making sure the package is secured with flaps taped together without any gap. How refreshing and satisfying to receive caring, friendly and professional service as a US Postal Service Customer! I hope the Manager of this facility recognizes Kauwela for her commitment to providing exceptional service, going above and beyond her daily routine in treating each customer individually as her most valued customer! MAHALO!

The US Postal Service is an independent agency within the Executive Branch of the US government,…read morebut it is not a traditional federal agency that was established by Congress in 1970. Its funding is from. postage sales, not taxes. It provides mail collection and delivery to every address, sells stamps and supplies, government services such as passport application processing and handling election mail, Informed Delivery (that e-mails of scanned envelopes that let individuals know before their mail arrives). Serving the HI Kai community of about 30,000+ residents since the 1960's when the community was built, the HI Kai US Post Office is a standard retail post office that serves the zip code 96825. In addition to the services provided above, it also offers P.O. Box services, a self-service kiosk available 24/7, money orders, and sale of greeting cards. As I have used this post office since the 1980's, I have gotten to know the staff behind the front desk serving the public, such as when I had to buy stamps, mail parcels, or had any questions about mail service. Familiar faces always brought smiles to both sides, and staff went out of their way to provide the detailed answers, as they worked as a team; it was like family. However, they have all since retired and now, new staff are in place, and the customer service is very different. The new staff lack the in-depth experience in providing detailed knowledgeable answers and are regimented in their work. For example: * I was looking for a specific postage stamp design, and one employee said she had none and said she could not check with other staff; whereas, prior staff would have easily checked with others to see if they had that specific stamp. I ended up going to the main post office near the airport to get that stamp. * In sending parcels, sometimes there are differences in mailing costs even if info is obtained online, so however we bring the parcel for flat rate or priority rate, the current staff will take it as how we prepared it; whereas prior staff would suggest to us any savings by sending it a certain way. The post office interior is somewhat small but stretched out in one line so that you can line up to obtain services with the first available staff. During busy times, such as the Christmas rush, the line extends beyond the entrance and the wait is longer, which is understandable. I love that this post office sells greeting cards; however, they are lined up against the wall, but I wish they were moved into a corner or placed on revolving card displays, as customers lined up for their turn at the front desk can easily look over your shoulder to see what cards you've picked up. As for our outgoing mail, we do not use our home mail box for the carrier to pick up due to possible theft, and we also do not use the mail collection box just outside of the post office, for that same reason. Instead, we are thankful that we can go into the post office 24/7 and drop off our mail via slots just near the inside 2nd doors to the service desk. Likewise, in that same area, flat rate and priority boxes/envelopes are stacked up, and the self-service kiosk and the P.O. boxes are accessible 24/7. Hours of operation are Mon to Fri 9a to 4:30p, Sat 9a to 12n, and Sun closed. Located on HI Kai Dr near the HI Kai Shopping Center, it has ample free parking fronting the main entrance and on the left side of the building. We will continue to use the HI Kai Post Office for our needed services due to convenience that is close to our home and are thankful for that. We are hopeful that over time, staff will gain the knowledge and that we will get to know them on a more personal level as compared to the prior staff.

The reviews warned everyone that it's a cozy place... yes, they're correct! As soon as I was organized enough, I drove over and parked in the paid parking lot behind the building since the metered street parking was full. The reviews warned everyone that it's a cozy place... yes, they're correct! There were two female clerks. Each of them was helping a customer... not bad! There are long lines at other post offices! Soon, it was my turn! The helpful, polite clerk was very efficient and explained everything as she went through my pile. Thank you very much for telling me that my friends should receive the mail by December 24th! Whew! Just made it!

Almost all if they had the self serve kiosk I'd be a regular at this Kaimuki location where it's almost hidden amongst the many biz it's surrounded by which is very easy to miss but with the OG blue mailbox that's placed right outside it does give the nostalgia of the days we mailed our seasonal items. With that I did need to send a box to a friend and needed a box which of course they have besides the generic I love the priority mail box packaging with the flat rate makes it easy to put whatever you need which was there for me along with the prices of what each box are. Right beside that they do have a area where you're able to pack/write or do whatever you need all nice and clean where I noticed a buck of flowers and noticed that they were pens...lol! regular ballpoint and sharpies as well that was a lovely touch to have but there was one thing that I did forget...tape...sigh! There was no line at all and I could've shipped my items but one little major bump in plans that made me frustrated but know that I have a convenient spot outside of the busy locations is here and love that it's a local residential spot. Thank you!
