You can tell a lot of thought went into the details, and it really captures the personality of the area. It is also a perfect photo spot. Whether you are just passing through or exploring the city, it is one of those places that makes you glad you stopped. Super easy to find and definitely worth a visit if you are in Tampa. Went here as a kid and it was very nostalgic to go back but ohmygod the ticketing is so poorly run…read more Even if you get a ticket online, you need to wait in the absurdly long line to get a sticker. It was like 20 minutes and they only had one person at the booth. Waiting outside in heat with no shade is just wild, especially with the world's slowest ticket process ever and kids waiting as impatiently as I was in a line to an even longer wait. There is also a machine that kids love to press that I actually thought was construction. It was so loud we had to leave that whole area of the museum. Also the listed drone flying times were just a little late-- we waited for 11:45 and no one came out until 11:50. It was fine but I was worried it wasn't happening! All this aside, there is a lot to learn and look at, even for adults! They have exhibits about dinosaurs, the human body, moon geology, illusions, gravity, and more.

There are lots to do for kids and adults. They recently added or renovated the planetorium, it's state of the art and the sounds and picture is awesome! The show was great and there are several choices for shows at different times of the day. Yes, they also have cocktails and food! I was very impressed with the quantity and overall experience here....highly recommend for kids and adults.

"Woven Waves" is a different style of public art. It features folded ceramic steel panels that create a lenticular effect. This makes the artwork shift as you move past it. You'll get more out of this by walking (or kayaking) past it and that makes it change dynamically. The piece draws inspiration from the multicultural history of Tampa and the bridge itself. The design incorporates traditional West African, Cuban, and Scottish cultural patterns, arranged in a way that evokes a quilt, symbolizing the diverse communities that shaped Tampa. This would include freedwoman and property-owner Fortune Taylor who became namesake to the street and bridge. Scottish businessman Hugh Macfarlane who built a storied cigar factory. Cuban factory workers whose labor struggles created demands for safe infrastructure. Best experienced during daytime and when moving along the Riverwalk. It seems to entail much of the local flora and fauna of Florida as well as local fauna like the roosters/hens of Ybor city. It also has hints of Tampa history with regards to the Gasparilla festival and also touches on outdoor/active life hobbies of the area. It's really well kept and actually looks quite new but I'm not sure since I'm not from here. I love local art, street art, murals, sculpture, and almost everything else artistic. I'm thankful that someone took the time to paint this super large mural that apparently has a lot of meaning to the people of Tampa and Florida. I was kind of disappointed because of how archaic some of the materials were (i.e cds and dvds), but we had computer access if needed. On the bright side, the attendants at the counter were helpful. We walked away with nothing but maybe next time they'll have what we are looking for.

It is a okay selection of media for a small local library. I normally go to get work and study done. There are only a few tables with outlets so expect to share a table if you need power. There seem to be some "down on their luck" people that make use of the facilities but they have never cause any problems and the library doesn't feel like "police state" in that context like some other nearby ones are like. Problem with the Hillsborough/Florida library system is that it censors access to information and website on the internet. I am not even talking about violent, sexual, or pornographic or illegal material. Just random informational sites or web services they don't like you visiting. Not exactly a free state for a state that proclaim it loves freedom.

The staff were super friendly and it was free, who doesn't love free stuff. So I was able to enjoy the art work that they brought in from NYC. They have couple of events throughout the year. I can only imagine the time and hard work it takes to complete a mural on a building especially solely with spray paint. Working outside in the heat of Florida along with the weather elements must be tough. This mural is fantastic! It's a beautiful way to pay respects and showcase the love between a father and his daughter as well as the love between Kobe Bryant and the sport of basketball. It's such a joyful representation of the relationships. Even if you're not a Lakers fan or didn't really follow Kobe Bryant, it's still easy to fall in love with the joy and happiness coming from this mural. Several people have left little notes and candles at the bottom of the mural to pay respects to both Kobe & Gianna as I'm sure they've been touched in their hearts by the lives of the two and the love they shared. There are quite a few wall murals just around the wall from this mural so if you like seeing outdoor art from a variety of artists, just head down to this mural and keep walking.
