I was represented by Olena Tatura who was initially very optimistic about the case but over time grew more and more bitter. The first thing that was alarming about Olena's approach was that she told me that unless I felt It was absolutely necessary, I shouldn't file a police report against the man who sexually assaulted me nor report him to any organization for misconduct. Despite her advice, I still made a police report, and its something the police are investigating and are unlikely to stop. She was not thrilled when I told her what I had done and I believe this was the beginning of her wanting to drop me as a client. When Olena finished drafting the demand letter I approved it to be sent. I was very nervous and so I spent a couple hours researching the law just to find out SHE COULDN'T SUE FOR WHAT SHE WAS FILING FOR. I didn't want to overstep and imply any disrespect to Olena at the time so I never brought it up with her. The next and final time I would meet Olena it would be to sign the paperwork to take this case to court. I met at her office and discussed the case in detail where she mentioned she couldn't sue for what she had down in the demand letter because the law only applies for businesses that have more than 15 employees. Olena and I had talked about this case in great detail before now but in this meeting, she did a total 180 on me and said things such as "how many law firms turned you down before you come to us", "I think you're lying to me", and "maybe you're taking this so hard(The Assault) because of how young you are" A week later, after I signed the paperwork to take this to court they sent me a letter announcing they were dropping me as a client and included no explanation whatsoever. I can not even begin to explain how awful this situation has made me feel. I reached out to Akin And Salman for help and I was made to feel like a victim again. I've searched and scanned my memory to find out where things went wrong and I believe now that Olena was trying to manipulate me by shaming me for my status as a victim to remove any guilt she may have had for how poorly this case was handled. Overall this was an awful experience and it opened up a lot of deep wounds for me. If you are a victim of sexual assault and wish to have representation from people who care and understand and feel like you're in a safe space then I would consult a different law firm. On the bright side, Olena will respond to your emails give or take a couple of days.

He assured me that he would file my son's motion within one week to try to rectify my sentence issues. He was hired on May 15 and I was given the run around until I pressed him on June 17 for answers. Then he replied with this message "I didn't see your messages yesterday. The paperwork was sent out with a process server on Friday. I don't have confirmation of service yet". My response was as followed "Respectfully, sir, I find it hard to believe that you did not see my message from yesterday. Not only did I send you a message, but immediately after you silenced the notification on your phone, I also attempted to call you multiple times. Unfortunately, as usual, you chose to ignore my attempts to reach out. Consequently, I took it upon myself to contact the Supreme Court both yesterday and today to inquire about any filed papers on behalf of my son. Regrettably, the clerk informed me that no documents had been submitted. I explained my situation, and she expressed confusion as to why you opted to send the documents via a process server when it would have been quicker to file electronically given my son's circumstances. Please provide me with proof of a court filing or potential filing within the next two days. You can do so by emailing me copies of the court documents you presented to the process server for filing. If I do not receive them within the requested time frame, I will consider you ineffective counsel and request a full refund. It's been five weeks and nothing been done!!! every day my son loses a day of freedom that being in state custody that he shouldn't. He's now up to eight months of lost time! Two days later, Mr. Mirvis sent me a screenshot showing that my son's motion has been filed through the court EDDS system. With a message reading "I filed it on EDDS as well". My response to the screenshot was as followed: "Your submission was made today at 2 AM this morning, not last Friday as you stated. I am perplexed as to why you provided us with false information regarding handing it over to a process server last Friday for court filing. I kindly request that you handle my son's case with the necessary urgency and respect it deserves. Thank you. He swiftly processed my son's motion to prevent the return of my money. However, the motion, Mr. Mavis filed, was so poorly drafted that the court clerk refused to present it to the judge. He didn't even inform us that there was an issue in the filing I found that out weeks later when I called the clerk's office. . From that moment on, he continued to evade us. He claimed to be out of town, lacking the file in front of him, and citing a family emergency. We eventually gave up on him on August 27th and haven't heard from him since. We're not wealthy, and the money we paid Mr. Mirvis was difficult to obtain we sent Mr. Mirvis letter asking for the return of our money with no response. Now, we're in the process of attempting to recover it in other ways. Fortunately, we were fortunate enough to find a compassionate woman named Hanna Mcrea at the federal defenders' office in Manhattan. Hanna took on my case. son's case for free can't give her enough praise!! they say that pay lawyers are better than free lawyers that is definitely not the truth. In this case stay away from Mr. Mirivs you'll be sorry!!!!!
