Index card identifying different cuts of meat - very good idea!
    Winnie L.

Delicious, delicious meat! The staff were so friendly and accommodating. We didn't have reservations but they managed to find a table for us. Unfortunately, one side of the grill worked only intermittently but that didn't stop us from feasting. I really like how they provide an index card so you know what type and cut of meat you are eating. They do not provide tap water so you must choose between still or sparkling. Overall, really good experience.

Excellent service! Our waitress spoke fluent English and was very attentive. The 12€ premium outside skirt cut was the best cut we had. In my opinion, it was tastier than the 45€ premium wagyu that we ordered. The tri tip and chuck roll were kinda weak, I'd skip on those. Beef tongue was okay. Not the best, but not bad. Overall very satisfying meal. I'd definitely come back again.

    1. Good ingredients especially the Japanese version of beef is so tasty, the beef tongue is served which is hard to find somewhere else. 2. Nice presentation of food with delicate plates and tableware. 3. The best service I had ever have in Germany!!! They actually forgot our reservation, but they did their best to offer a table, that day not only we got special drinks but also desserts which are not in the menu; stuffs always come to ask if there's anything they can help with, and they bowed in 90 degrees when you are leaving the restaurant like real Japanese will do which is very impressive!!!

Edamame - warm, soft and lightly salted. Just right. Seaweed salad - standard and good YAKITORI SKEWERS Chicken thigh - good, as expected, just not a head turner Tomato - sizeable and plump. Good charcoal flavor. Zucchini - flavorful and tender but not overdone Shiitake mushroom - regular, needs seasoning Okra - soft and mushy Water chestnut - large sized but then the middle becomes difficult to season - ends up being lots of flavorless water chestnut to chew Chicken meatballs - delicious and well made Nice glaze of teriyaki sauce. Chicken wings - less meat and more work to navigate around the tiny bones Pork - pretty regular Pork with chives - more character - the green onion adds different texture, but without overwhelming the pork flavor Beef tenderloin - good, but pretty regular. Beef and cheese - made with chunks of what I think was mozzarella Lamb - quite overdone and underwhelming - if it's going to be overdone, at least be crispy. Salmon - very tender and succulent. One of the best skewers here, if not the best. Also sampled the Kiyo ramen - nice al dente noodles and good amount of vegetables bathed in a savory stock. Great stop for Japanese that hits the spot. That's all

The interior of the restaurant is simplistic but also grounded in woody/home-y vibes, which makes it welcoming. Not to be dramatic but I had some of the best sashimi ever here (otoro, chutoro, akami and yellowtail - even though I don't normally like yellowtail). The dishes were carefully assembled and plated, and the servers were very attentive the entire meal. Some dishes stood out more than others, and the ones that were most memorable, I've attached pictures of. I can't remember exactly what was in the dish but the one in the blue bowl included eggplant and changed flavors as I ate it, which was a nice, unexpected surprise. At the end of the meal, the owner chatted with every group to gauge everyone's experiences and feedbacks. Overall, a nice first kaiseki experience.

The plates seem small but they add up and you won't leave hungry. I have to say I was a little disappointed that after a year and a half, I returned to find the menu to be largely the same. None the less worth it and a must eat in Berlin.

And all the dishes do look amazing. But to me, it didn't taste amazing. I have had lots of Japanese food all over the world. I know quite a lot about it. And this menu had good parts and not so good parts. The amuse-bouche(6 in total) were very nice. Then one dish out of two was very good, the other just medium good. For example, the shabu shabu veal was partially warm and partially still ice cold, so it was obviously not totally dipped into the broth as it should be. But I have to give them the benefit of the doubt on the fact that I am not Japanese and I might not fully comprehend the subtility of some of the courses and therefore misjudge. Still... All in all for 200€ each (392€ bill for 2, we were not fully happy. However I would recommend it for people enjoying traditional Japanese cuisine and I certainly recommend the saké tasting selection which was very nice. And the place looks amazing with all the little alleys and the little dark booths and the excellent service. Oh and DO order the soft shell crab tempura extra. That is always a bliss.

Outdoor seating was packed, but pretty much all the (long) tables inside were open. So if it's nice out and you want to sit outside, be prepared to wait. Since almost all the patrons were eating outside, service inside was somewhat slow. Menus were already on the tables, but it took some time to flag down a waiter and get one in English. Food came out in a timely manner, though. Before placing your order, be sure to check out specials on the chalk board! Dudu's menu mainly consisted of a mix of Vietnamese dishes and sushi. Decided to start with dumplings and the starter beef pho. Although both were good, I enjoyed the dumplings more. I liked how the dumpling wrapper wasn't too thick and that it was packed with pork. The dipping sauce went well with the dumplings and wasn't too sour or spicy. I liked how you can order a starter of the pho. It was the perfect size to get a taste of the dish, leaving room for other items on the menu. The small bowl was packed with noodles and beef shavings. The soup itself didn't have as much flavor as I would have liked it to, but it was still good. Our main meal consisted of a variety of rolls that we shared. The salmon avocado and tuna rolls were pretty good, although standard. The fish was fresh and the ratio of fish to fish was good. The crispy yellow roll, one of Dudu's special rolls, was just okay. The roll itself was deep fried and contained avocado and cucumber. Separate from the roll was diced spicy tuna that you were supposed to eat with the roll. If I knew it would came like this, I don't think I would have ordered it. I was over the actual roll pretty quickly, but really enjoyed the spicy tuna. I also tried some of C's "rice for kids", which was a small bowl of soup rice with chicken on top. He quickly ate all the chicken, but left most of the rice. Again, didn't know the rice would be rice mixed in a broth. You could tell the broth had ginger in it as the taste was pretty prominent. Not so sure this is a good idea for a kid's dish...the only kid's meal offered. Price of all the food was reasonable, although pricier than typical meals in Berlin.

The menu is nice and easy to cover - about 8 appetizer, 6 udon soups and 6 don dishes which allows you to get a good feel for what they are all about in one sitting. My friend and I shared the japanese omelette and the gyazu as an appetizer which I can both recommend. I chose the Gyu Don which they actually didn't have and what kinda caused me to give 4 stars only. We then actually ordered the sake don and the chicken terriyaki don. Both looked and tasted absolutely fantastic! To complete the experience we chose the "3 out of 8 sake sampler" for 12€ that allows you to trial 3 of the 8 sake they offer in their restaurant. Whenever I am back there is just Onigiri and Udon left to try. Check this place out! Really good...
