I'm assuming they do not want to walk the 16 flight of stairs that I walk every day. They will not even bring a certified letter upstairs. They leave my packages at the front office and if the front office is closed I get a message saying package could not be delivered. There is a big box for oversized items but my carrier says there is no key to it. The front office is not my address nor is that address on any of my packages. I would rather meet the carrier at the bottom of my stairs than get in my car and drive up front to retrieve my package. The front office was closed today April 11th so my package gets passed off to the next carrie. Nine times out of ten that carrier will do the same thing and I will not get my package until Monday if the front office is open. I have spoken to the Complex manager and she explained that I must sign a form to have the carrier leave my Amazon at my door. That makes no sense. On my Amazon account it states Leave At Front Door. This small little (older) post office is located on the corner of Atlantic Street and Plume Street downtown Norfolk. I had a package to mail off and said, let me knock this out real quick, (around 9am on a Wednesday.) I didn't get his name, but the older gentleman that helped me was just so very pleasant, helpful, and efficient. I could tell that the two folks of ahead of me were regulars, and were chit chatting with him like they were his friend. Talking about thanksgiving, stamps, etc. I mailed off a 12' x 16' inch canvas, and it was $7.50, and also bought a book of Holiday stamps for $11, for the few cards I'll send out. I told the gentleman, "This is my first time at this location!" And he said, "Well, welcome! I hope you come back!" I definitely will. Most positive USPS experience, ever!!! I come here during the…read morework week whenever I need to mail something off or when I need to get stamps for those random bills that aren't available to be paid online. Speaking of, did you know stamps cost 55 cents now?? Sheesh! Anyway, it's a much smaller post office and they are never too busy. They have shorter hours of operation here and are open from 8:30am-2pm during the week. There is also a lobby area for PO boxes that are available with extended hours. Everyone dreads going to the post office, and I know they have a bad rep but at this particular location, I don't mind going here at all. I very rarely have to wait in line and Gordon who is regularly on staff during the day is just the friendliest person I've dealt with at the USPS.

They have self-service kiosk open 24/7 and a counter (open during office hours) with 2-3 people for those who wants stamps or grab a free USPS box. If you are concerned on when your package will arrive, go to UPS--they have options and will be generally cheaper. If you want to send a postcard, this is the place to go. If you're sensible adult, you should have a sheet of forever stamps with you. There is a lot of parking space, too.
