Absolutely horrible. Poor customer service/patient service!!!!!! I called to make an appointment for severe abdominal pain that I went to the ER last night for. And still have today. The Er Dr stated that should have a specialist look at it. This office said the soonest I could be seen is January. What a joke!!! I'm giving them one star because I can't give them zero stars. Terrible place from reception to the Nurse Practitioner we saw that had to keep leaving the room to consult with the doctor. We went in with tests showing prolonged and server C Diff. This diagnosis is considered critical. They had to run their own test and said there's no C Diff, only the gene for it. Refused to acknowledge the tests we had and refused to treat it. Said they could treat another issue we had with antibiotics which would only make the C Diff worse. Why would we do that? On top of that, their online system reported "client agreed to the plan". What plan? There was no plan. Only for us to go home and get more sick. read more

I was referred here by the ER. When they called to make my appointment, the receptionist was incredibly rude and telling me I should be seeing the GI doctor I went to years ago. I told them I was referred and didn't know who the old doctor was and that I was told it was urgent. She continued to ask me why I won't just go to my old doctor and that if they even were to see me, I needed to get my old records, send it over, then they would need to review and THEN decide if they were willing to see me. Even though I'm having a TON of rectal bleeding and my doctor referred me to them. I was in tears by the end of the call with how rude the woman was that I ended up going somewhere else. I can't say how the doctors were, but it was clear she didn't care. read more

I have been trying since October of last year to get a medical professional at UT Gastroenterology to diagnose and treat my severe abdominal pain. First, procedure was a liver biopsy that was benign; then, they scheduled a colonoscopy (they average 32 colonoscopies/day). Still no treatment of my original complaint...severe stomach pain! For five months I have tried to get tested and treated for that problem. Good luck getting anyone to answer the phone, and you will likely be transferred to endless hold anyway. After several rude phone responses from the admin staff and a 73-minute hold without a response, I gave up on trying to schedule a follow-up with my assigned care provider at the Riverside Drive clinic. I have been receiving care from Dr. Miller for several years and have had great care from him. Again, Dr. Miller and his PA's are great, but the staff members are rude, uncaring and certainly not empathetic or understanding of your needs. I had to cancel my procedure as my husband was called in for emergency surgery. With that, I gave 2 1/2 days notice to cancel so that I could take care of my husband.. The staff members made me feel that I was committing a cardinal sin by not giving 3 days notice of cancellation. Nowhere on my paperwork did it indicate 3 days needed. Simply rude service by the administration. It's not been the first time and I will be seeking care elsewhere. read more

My experience is totally different than other reviews below. Each time I called, I either got a live person or a return call the next day. I could not be happier with my procedures. I had a back to back endoscopy and colonoscopy. The receptionist was great. The intake nurse ( Kim) immediately recognized that I was struggling when I came in and caught that I was hypoglycemic. Aaron, the nurse anesthesiologist was very kind, explained everything thoroughly and was very professional. Dr. Brien Miller took his time and thoroughly explained his findings, his recommendations and the necessary follow ups to me and my spouse. My discharge nurse (Eileen, or maybe Ellen) assisted me in the discharge instructions and escorted me to my car. Based on my experience, I would recommend Dr. Miller and his staff. read more

I tried to schedule an appointment for a colonoscopy, I was told over the phone that it would be on the 16th of March, only to find out at the hospital that it was actually the 23rd, I went through the cleanse and everything and was not able to be helped. I'm positive that it was the 16th of March that they told me to come in because a colonoscopy is not something that is forgotten easily. Since the 16th of March I have been trying to call their office every day cancel my appointment for the 23rd because I do not want to go through another cleanse so soon, it was extremely uncomfortable, and my body is not ready for that stress again. I was finally able to reach an after hours receptionist, but they couldn't even take any notes or give me an email to contact them and make a cancellation. Being that there is no way to make a cancellation or get in contact with this company I imagine that I'll be forced to pay the $100 cancellation fee. How else am I supposed to get in contact with them other than writing a review, they have no email contact and they don't respond to calls or voicemail. I'm putting this here for the record that I did try to cancel but have not been met with a response, I will not pay the $100 cancellation fee, because I have tried to cancel in advance of the 24-hour time frame. This whole situation is quite unfortunate and I hope that the average person doesn't have to deal with this lack of communication, a colonoscopy is an extremely important procedure, but making them difficult to schedule on top of the lack of communication does not help when trying to convince people to get a colonoscopy, I'll just get it done in Mexico where the doctors are more efficient and I could actually talk with a real person on the phone. read more

I had a colonoscopy on 21 Oct. Superb support from all staff, from the receptionist when I entered the office to the aide who walked me out to my ride after the procedure. The pre-op instructions were clear and thorough, nothing left unclear. Things went as planned. I interfaced with at least nine medical and admin staff during the process, each of whom were great, professional, friendly, and totally supportive. The entire process was efficient and patient focused, thanks to everyone involved; Dr James Brown and his staff of professionals. I would highly recommend this facility, the doctors and staff. This was my very first colonoscopy and endoscopy. Everyone was extremely professional, punctual, gave good instruction. Dr Jung was amazing at explaining and answering any questions I had. I am 75 years old and this is absolutely the worst medical practice i have ever been involved with. Dr Bown does a good job of performing procedures but the rest of the practice is a total waste. they never answer the phone and never respond to voice messages. i recently had an upper endoscopy and doc found bleeding blood vessels in stomach which he cauterized. that night i had terrible pain and my temperature went up to 104 degrees. my wife called emergency number on discharge instructions, which was the office number, and told after hours operator what was going on. the office never called back, never. during the following week i continued to have significant pain and black stools. again called the office and left message but no call back, never. i was supposed to set up a follow on appointment but cannot get hold of office to do so. two weeks later i still have pain and have terrible acid reflux every time i eat which i have never had since starting Dexilant many years ago while in Salt Lake area. i am surprised this office stays in business and were it not for shortage of gi docs in the area they would not be in business. this is not a viable practice and if you are looking for quality care, go elsewhere. you will not be truly cared for here read more

I'm appalled at the lack of customer service this company provides. One of the things you can count on is that they won't ever answer a phone call. This can't be a one-time issue, as I've been dealing with them since May. The message you receive is they will get back to you in three days. It took almost 2 1/2 weeks to even get a call back after they received a referral from my primary doctor. I called & even sent emails. I was told by the person I spoke with that she had been out and had over 70 calls to return. I had to go into the office to get my test results after a month of waiting to hear back from someone. When you go into the office, they hide behind the glass window and don't even give you a friendly nod to acknowledge that you are waiting. Even if they are short-staffed, a bit of courtesy and accountability would go a long way. I was going to ask for the office manager, however, it's apparent that leadership is non-existent. I guess a bit of competition in St. George might be what is needed. read more

Had an appointment with Dr. Trent Kenworthy regarding some liver issues, pain and bloating. Upon initial appointment, the Dr. ordered additional bloodwork and an ultrasound. I had to call the office to get information on the ultrasound and didn't even speak with the Dr. himself. Everything came second hand from the assistant. I would ask a question, and then she would ask the Dr. and call me back. The only advice I was given was to take a pill, lose weight and eat the Mediterranean diet. He never listened to my stomach or felt that my liver was quite large. Unimpressed with the care I received. Went with a Dr. in Utah County who was WAY more caring, intelligent and on top of my care. Would NOT recommend this office for your GI needs. read more

I have a serious diverticulitis problem and they couldn't get me in until three weeks. A few days later I went to the emergency ward and had a lot of testing and a MRI scan. They gave me medicine and said to see a Gastroenterologist ASAP. I called Utah Gastroenterologist to see if I could get in sooner because of the seriousness of my diverticulitis. The receptionist did not care at all and kept saying we're just booked for over a month I asked to speak to some else and she sent me to a voicemail for Jana who did not answer the phone but did return my phone call 4 hrs later. They did finally get me a spot for the next day to see the PA which is better than nothing. I can see why everyone is giving this company a 1star rating. I would not recommend Utah Gastroenterologist ever. They obviously don't care about the health of there patients. read more

My wife has been taking a medication for 23 years, the last ten years prescribed through Utah Gastroenterology. On March 18th, Express Scripts did not send a refill as expected. On March 30th Express scripts website showed that it had been "Delayed" by Utah Gastroenterology. We were not notified by the clinic that they did not renew her prescription. Also on March 30th, my wife made an appointment with Utah Gastroenterology for April 1st. We appeared for the appointment, Dr. Miller said "If I'm going to be your doctor, you have to do everything I say." Without giving a reason, Dr. Miller insisted on administering a colonoscopy although my wife has been asymptomatic for 23 years as reported on the assessment. When my wife refused, he became disresptful, insulting, and rude. He did not offer any options such as an X-ray or a referral to another doctor. Dr. Miller had two other unidentified people in the room, who just stared at her. Dr. Miller stated he will issue a two month refill however Utah Gastroenterology cancelled her pending prescription, leaving her with no medication or follow-up. read more

She promises to call in a prescription and then does not follow up. We continue to have emergency room and hospital stays and no improvement in my wife's quality of life. I have been a patient of Ut Gastro (St George) for more than 2 years, as I have Ulcerative Colitis. As part of my Colonoscopy in Nov 2021, the Dr. requested that I get blood work done on a regular basis to ensure that my Entivyio Infusions are working. As prescribed, I had a Complete Blood Test done last week. I called today to get the results and as usual got the run around. Lorna (NPA) apparently left the orginazation recently . . . what a loss as she was the only one you could get a straight answer from. You can not book an appointment for weeks and there is no way to get follow-up on tests that the Dr requested. I am very frustrated and I'm not sure how to proceed, but I would not recommend this group. read more

I was supposed to be put on the waiting list, when I made my gastroenterology appointment, with Utah gastroenterology. I called the office today, to tell them my symptoms have got worse. The receptionist doesn't seem to understand English, even though she speaks it. I said I'd take an appointment with ANYONE, or I'll have to go to the ER. She said we don't operate as an ER, like I didn't know that. I would've seen the doctors assistant, but she chooses to only hear ER, and say they aren't an ER. She doesn't seem to understand what people are talking about. They have incompetent people answering the phones. I don't know why anyone would be seen there. Unfortunately they were my last resort. The first time I went there, the Physicians assist was patronizing and condescending. With all my symptoms I had. she never ordered any tests. I was told last month she was fired, so I made this appointment, after seeing a different doctor, who actually sent me for tests. I could never get in touch with him after my tests were done. Not even one returned phone call by my previous doctor. Saint George, Utah medical symptom sucks. I lived in Provo from 1999-2005, and the health care system was great there. The police where incompetent though. They did nothing for me, when I was assaulted. I can't believe the differences between northern and southern Utah are so different. But then again, it has been 17 years since I lived in Provo, Utah. I moved to Saint George last year. read more

I had PCN medical while applying for disability. I had to have my Gallbladder out. I went to the hospital and they had a Dr. from Utah Gastroenterology or aka Mt. West Gastroenerology (one and the same) do the surgery. The hospital wrote off my bill one hundred percent because I have no money. Utah Gastroenerology said I could get financial aid from them only if I could get financial aid from the hospital but the hospital could not give me financial aid because I did not owe them any money. My bile duct has now collapsed from the Gallbladder surgery. Utah Gastroenerology refuses to see me because I owe them money. I went to another Dr. in town but he was scared to do the surgery and sent me to LDS hospital in Salt Lake City. The Dr. there did a scope and then sent a referral back to my Dr in St. George to do the surgery and he wont do it. I am very sick and will probably die. I am now trying to see a Dr. in northern Utah for my collapsed bile duct. It is a shame that now day in age Doctors are just allowed to refuse service. I have disability and full medical now that will pay them one hundred percent but they refuse service because I can not pay them for a past bill when I had no money. read more

Please people, do not waste your time here. I had a 10:30 AM appointment with Christoph Worlein, and I waited an HOUR for him to see me. I am a 74 year old lady with a bad back and had a taxi waiting. The staff are useless, and when he finally came in, I chided him for being an hour late and he said "I'm not taking any of your crap, just get out,: and I said I've waited this long I have questions," and to be frank, he was quite mean. He is a Euro from Germany, and I guess that's how they treat patients there. I have always stood up for my rights, and I fail to understand how these Doctor's think they are Gods. He threw some Linsess samples at me after mumbling a few instructions, which I did not hear clearly, so I will look it up on the internet. Do not waste your time here, you will be disappointed. I have never been treated so rudely. Dr. Worlein, remember the Hippocratic oath? Or maybe they don't have that in your country. Be prepared to be rudely treated and thrown out if you complain. And the staff are a joke and unhelpful, totally. The walls are paper thin and all I heard from the Doctors was "colonoscopy." That's how they make all their money. I needed to schedule my first-ever colonoscopy, and when I saw the reviews, I was pretty apprehensive. Thankfully, I had very much an opposite experience to most of the previous reviews. During the initial call when they got my information, I told the lady I would have to get back with her if I couldn't find a ride, and she was very understanding and gave me her extension to call directly if I had to change the appointment. I had a lot of questions, and I was over near the office on a different day for an errand, so I just walked in to ask. The staff was all friendly and helpful answering all the questions. I received a call the day before and a text or email (I can't remember which) to make sure I didn't have any questions and to confirm the appointment. The appointment was never delayed and went as planned. Even when I was there, all the staff, including Dr. Miller, were so friendly, helpful, and competent. Either things have really improved or maybe only upset customers have spoken up. In any event, I would definitely recommend this office; it was a great experience! read more

i called this office for an appointment and i had to wait 2 months for one. the day of the appointment i had to wait one hour before i saw the doctor. i explained the reason for being there and when i was done he said that my pain probably was because of a digested condition. he prescribe pantoprazol and sent me home. no follow uo appointments, or a test of any kind to verify his "diagnosis". i went home watch i eat and took my medicine as prescribed. the pain continued for several weeks. i decided to go to another gastroenterologist in salt lake city this time. this doctor took me more seriously and ordered tests, includind an endoscopy with an ultrasound capability. he find out that i had a cyst in my pancreas that he pop an took a biopsy to determine whether was a benign or malignant cyst. he sent me home with antibiotics and a follow up appointment. my pain is gone. i feel good againg. dr. bown was not able to detect anything. i will never, never will go to that office. on top of his incompetency his front desk staff are rude. i wouldn't recomend him or his office to anyone. he over charged according to my insurance. don't waste your money on him. read more

Be sure to pick which doc in the practice you'll be happy with when you make your first appt. cause once your "assigned" you're STUCK with that doctor - like it or not. Totally unflexable on this "office policy". I have had several endoscopies done in the past in the state I moved from. There has been no discomfort ever. After seeing my "assigned doctor" at this clinic for an endoscopy, I felt like I had been socked hard in the jaw. I had to ice it for weeks. My throat felt raw and at times I felt like I would choke because I couldn't swallow. This continued for weeks as well. The staff at their endoscopy center, conveniently located next door, and probably owned by "the practice" left much to be desired. I was willing to give another dr. in the practice a try and then, and only then was I told of the above policy. read more

I tried to schedule an appointment during normal weekday hours but the staff was in a "meeting" so no one answered the phone. I submitted the online appointment request form which indicates I will receive a call in 24-48 hours. 2 weeks later I got a phone call that I should have a colonoscopy even though I still have not talked to a doc. about my symptoms (they had my colonoscopy results from a year earlier) I went ahead and had the second colonoscopy by Doctor Christoph Woerlein a few days later on a Friday afternoon. When I woke up minutes after the procedure, he had already left the clinic without talking to me or my husband. I heard nothing for another 2 weeks (no phone call or mail) and had to go into the clinic and ask for the biopsy results. I've never actually spoken with a doctor but did pay significant $ for a colonoscopy. This is honestly the worst communication and follow through by any doctor or clinic I have ever experienced. St George has great medical care but these guys are a horrible exception. read more

Wow, things must have changed since you "one-stars" posted a review! Had a colonscopy yesterday 8/1/18. I am a 74 yr old lady also, and I had a very favorable experience. The staff were very professional, warm, friendly, and competent (especially Mike the admitting nurse). The whole experience was painless and quick. Dr. Miller was very caring and went over the results with me. A report complete with pictures was given to me also, and I got a follow up call this morning. My only negative would be that it took about a half hour to be seen, but the waiting room was packed, so it was understandable. I would highly recommend this organization to anyone. read more

Don't let anybody refer you here. It took over a month for them to give us an appointment. When we finally did go in, we didn't see or talk to a doctor in either of 2 visits, just some PA. We were not at all convinced that this PA knew what he was doing. The first visit, he ordered a bunch of blood work. That was OK but on the second visit when we went in for the results, he wasn't prepared; he didn't seem to have reviewed the results at all. The whole time we were there he had his nose stuck in the chart and barely looked at us. He was not able to give us any firm information about any sort of conclusion, just a lot of well, uh, hum, you might, I really can't say, it looks like, maybe, and so on. Then, based on this vagueness, we were expected to say how we wanted to proceed. All he wanted to do was order some more tests instead of treating the problem we did know about. Some months and thousands of dollars later, we left not knowing very much more than we did when we arrived. read more
