Those recoveries take so long. I didn't want that and I would have put this off, but I am grateful I didn't. 5 weeks after surgery I am throwing a baseball again. Yes I still have some small surgery pains, and have to watch what I am doing. The surgery was awesome, and doctor Edwards was way better then every surgeon I have ever used. I have referred multiple people to them since.

I went to him based off her recommendation. When I got pregnant I was so excited for our 10 week appointment. We were shocked to learn there was no heartbeat. Dr Young was so caring and empathetic, assuring me that I did nothing wrong and that sometimes miscarriages just happen. He truly could not have had better bedside manner and offered to let us leave through the back when we were ready so that we didn't have to walk through the waiting room of happy expectant moms. He then performed a D&C on me to complete the miscarriage and was so kind throughout the whole process. Fast forward a year later I got pregnant again and he was so kind of helpful throughout the entire pregnancy, always making me feel comfortable and capable. He came to deliver my baby even though he wasn't on call and he does that for all his patients. We now live 30 minutes from his office but I am pregnant again and happily making the drive to continue my care with Dr Young because he truly is the best!

I took off a star because I didn't like the check in process or the questions asked that I was told I had to answer. It felt like an invasion of my privacy. First I shouldn't have to disclose either my SS or my religion for a simple yearly breast exam, but the young lady at the counter told me I wouldn't get my bracelet or access unless I answered them. I had my young daughter with me and I wasn't about to start a fight in front of her but when I explained that those items shouldn't be necessary to get my exam she said it's hospital policy. I didn't want to reschedule or go somewhere else but I was pretty upset. Also they require you to wear a medical bracelet as if you are being admitted for a hospital stay which is a bit crazy as the beast center is on the 1st floor just behind reception! Also, on his particular day the lights needed to be replaced so there were men working in the breast center area while I was being examined. While they didn't see me half naked they were there as I walked thru and I'll tell you this... the "gown" is a midriff weird shaped thing and not good for bigger gals as it doesn't cover your waist really. Personally I've had way better experiences elsewhere.

I had to be transferred from my midwives to the hospital for induction last week. I had been…read moreplanning on a home birth until experiencing high blood pressure that I couldn't get under control in the last weeks of pregnancy. Common Spirit Holy Cross is not far from home and in network, plus I saw they had birth suites with shower and tub and I wanted a water birth. Unfortunately due to the high blood pressure there was a chance I'd be put on a magnesium drip, which could make me feel nauseous and lightheaded and getting in and out of the the tub was too risky so I was confined to the bed and room. While I was here I interacted with at least a dozen if not more members on staff from doctors to nurses to certified nurse midwives to lactation consultants and dietary staff. Right off the bat I felt super comfortable. I was already nervous about having to be induced, but felt I was in a positive environment where the employees cared about their patients and their experience. Having an unmedicated birth was important to me as well as rejecting certain procedures and treatments for myself and baby. I never felt guilt tripped or forced into anything I didn't want to do for the most part (there were a few negative interactions with one person specifically). I was just met with questions for understanding my choices and provided with additional info and allowed to make my decision. With respect to those negative interactions I felt like most of the Holy Cross team advocated for me against this person to ensure I had the best possible labor and delivery experience, WHICH I DID. It was all hands on deck, and I had a beautiful unmedicated delivery. Now on to the negatives...this one person, instead of introducing herself with the same bedside manner like everyone else to make me feel comfortable and understand what was going on without making me worry, she came in guns blazing and seemed adamant about wanting to put me on the magnesium drip right after telling me how much it would suck, so much so that I would ask for the epidural. Also, she dropped this on me while I was in the middle of a blood pressure reading, which is only going to keep my blood pressure even more elevated to justify her desire to put me on the drip... the rest of the team decided I could attempt to labor unmedicated without the drip and low and behold, my beautiful baby girl was born five hours later. Also a couple of staff kept trying to say that Pitocin is the same thing as oxytocin, which it's not! Oxytocin is a natural labor hormone. Pitocin is synthetic. Oxytocin builds naturally as labor progresses, when your body and baby are ready. Pitocin can just be turned up regardless if your body and baby are ready. Oxytocin releases endorphins to reduce pain. Pitocin does not cross the blood-brain barrier and so you feel pain more. The only way they're the same is that they cause uterine contractions. Overall, I was impressed with the facility, with the staff, and with the quality of care and follow up during rounds. I felt encouraged and despite not getting the home birth I wanted, it turned out as great as it could be! I did have to go back a few days after discharge, to the ER, due to BP and it was another pleasant experience.

I called multiple times about a birth control problem and the nurse station never answered, I left a message every single I time I called asking them to call me back. never did. eventually I asked the front desk lady if she could help me with my problem. she was snotty and told me I'd need to come in for an appointment before anything could be fixed. which would have been nice to know in the first place... Then told me the next available appointment was 2 months away. I asked if there was anything I could do to get ahold of my doctor or a nurse before then and she was very rude and said no. then I called my primary care physician and he was able to help me with my problem within 30 minutes no issues at all. Basically, I will never go here again because of how slow and rude and unresponsive the nurses and front desk were even if the doctor was okay.

The anchors for the Achillis had detached and the mesh he put in was rejected by my body. I felt horrible for 8 months. Dr. Beals did the surgery again 8 months later. He had to scrap down to healthy bone to reattach the anchors and pick out the mesh that should not have been placed in there. I'm mending on schedule now. I went through hell by believing it would be an easy fix as Dickerson said. Plus, I didn't know to ask for a nerve block during the surgery. Unnecessary severe post op pain!

When I arrived the day of my procedure, they were absolutely not certain of the costs, therefore, didn't really seem like they talked to my insurnace beforehand at all, like they said they would. The day of the procedure, I was told I would likely have $250 to pay outside of insurance. Okay, great, that's not too bad. However, I wanted to ensure that was the correct amount due to their sense of uncertainty, so I put off my procedure for about an hour to go talk to billing to ensure I wouldn't end up with a large surprise bill that I couldn't pay afterwards. Billing was 0 help and they couldn't care less for my concerns and the fact that I told them I'm low income and can't manage a surprise bill. They got me very flustered and stressed right before my procedure. They didn't care. I was told it shouldn't be much more than $250 and not to worry. So I decided to just move forward with the procedure, which I regret more than anything. Lo and behold, a short while after my procedure, I received a bill in the mail for $250 and then another for $730!!!! My fears came true! They were not transparent about the reality of how high the extra costs could be. I did everything to avoid it and it still happened because of the billing people misguiding me and not caring to investigate it further to ensure the true costs. Not to mention, the procedure didn't do anything for me or give any answers and the treatment at the place was mid in general. I'm still having all the same issues I started going there to address. So now I have a huge bill to pay that I can't pay and over the month of November they add TWO late fees! Two in one month really? I'm low income, and talked to them telling them I was going to need more time to pay it and they just proceed to add more late fees. They don't work with you at all. Today, only about 4 months out from the procedure, I received a bill in the mail stating that if I didn't pay the bill in 10 days (actually 6 days due to when I received the bill in the mail- took 4 days to get here from the date marked on it) then they will send it to collections and I will be charged a 50% fee. I've never heard of a debt going to collections that fast, and definitely never heard of a late fee that's that excessive when only 4 months late (it's not like it had been 6+ months of them not being paid). Scare tactics, really? So this is how you're treated when you can't afford to pay for a surprise bill that you tried to avoid up front but got no where because of the lack of care and knowledge from the billing department, and after they were already paid good money from the insurance company. No accountability or empathy at all. I wouldn't recommend this place, not only because of the billing departments lack of compassion and empathy, but also because of all the money I spent just to get 0 answers and to get better 0%. Such a waste. This is what's wrong with healthcare! Based on the other negative reviews that are somewhat similar to mine, I know my experience will be brushed off by management and I will be gaslit like the other reviewers that have had negative experiences have been. Management, I recommend for you and your staff to receive some sensitivity training and always run prior authorization beforehand. Give the patient as much info as possible and show a sense of concern and willingness to help. Myself and other patients have given you insight on how you can improve, now it's up to you to take accountability and make the necessary changes to do so. There's nothing else to say here. Much like every other human, so it's an experience when you have to change your pcp. He is a professional in every sense of the word, and very easy going. Doctor Crump took the time to ask me about my upbringing, home life, aspirations, reason for my visit, etcetera. He isn't concerned with the amount of patients waiting. His main focus is to know his patients personally and to treat them to the best of his ability. I recommend him for everyone :) big and small.
