Upstairs they have a small museum, which is worth checking out. You're already inside, right? Unfortunately, they aren't providing tours of the grounds and facilities due to the pandemic. Although, an employee told me they were preparing to start them up again soon. You can still walk around the grounds if you like. I recommend visiting the town of Jayuya. It is very nice, especially La Piedra Escrita. When you are here, this place is worth checking out. Be prepared for a long road trip through windy roads. Great views but some people can get dizzy. Also, our GPS signal wasnt very good up here in the mountains. Keep that in mind. You may have to go old school. Still worth it.

It was interesting and lovely, but it took forever. Our intention was to first go to La Piedra Escrita. Unfortunately, our son was asleep when we arrived, and because the walk from the parking to the site is long we decided to stop at Hacienda San Pedro first for some coffee. They informed us that due to the pandemic, they weren't giving any tours. Although, they are planning to resume them soon. It would have been nice to take the tour. Next time. Upstairs they have a little museum that one can see free of charge. They also have a lake, which was pretty cool. I ordered a cappuccino with whipped cream and my husband a latte. We also had a piece of cake and buttered toast. The cappuccino was very good. My husband liked his latte. The piece of cake was nice and moist, but small. The toast was good. We liked the coffee so much, we bought a 1/2 pound bag to take home. Next time we're in Jayuya, we are returning to see if they are offering the tour.

    Sandra Farms - Great coffee

Our visit to Sandra Farms was one of the most enjoyable experiences we had on the island! Our…read moreguide, Carmelo, was spectacular - he was a wealth of knowledge, and long after we left, we kept talking about what we learned there, not only about the process of growing and processing coffee, but about Puerto Rico as a whole. I honestly won't look at coffee the same way again! Even my daughter and husband who don't drink coffee agreed that the samples we tasted were quite excellent - even without cream or sugar. The setting was breathtaking, and photos just won't do it justice, though I took many in an attempt to capture it accurately. Really lovely... Do not let the commentary on the roads to Sandra Farms deter you from going. We were in a sedan and it was fine, if a little bumpy in places. However, a word to the wise regarding driving there - first, download your Google maps before you leave WiFi service, because you will definitely go offline. Signage on roads is not always present (true throughout PR), and there are some forks in the road that aren't entirely clear. Second, people who live in this mountainous area (and there are many) are used to these roads, and often - as my mother used to say - take their half out of the middle. Drive slower than you think you should. The roads are narrow and feel more like 1 and 1/2 lanes, not 2 lanes. It is rare to find a line down the middle of these roads. There are often no guardrails, and sometimes not much of a shoulder. Our family had a great time squealing and laughing as my husband braved the many hairpin turns - it is definiely do-able, but just don't try to speed your way there. We got a cute t-shirt that said we survived the road to Sandra Farms, proving that it is just as noteworthy as any other attraction! Finally, these are the most gracious hosts - we were running late, because of a wrong turn, and they were so kind and patient. They made us all feel like we were friends that hadn't been able to visit in a long time. I definitely intend to return one day, and will be supporting their coffee production from home via their website. Te quiero Sandra Farms!

I think that says a lot about how much we enjoyed this lol. The drive to the farm was beautiful. Yes the last 15-30 minutes are a little rough and narrow. The views are stunning once you arrive. Tal (likely spelling her name wrong, so sorry!) was a sweetheart during the tour! I learned about the coffee making process, how much effort it takes to be an organic farm and to truly appreciate that cup of espresso. I'm unsure about other farms but all the coffee beans here are harvested by hand! After we did a very brief walk to the coffee plants, we went to try some freshly brewed coffee. Roasted the regular and natural way, with delicious chocolate and banana biscotti treats as well. We also loved all the fruit trees we saw, even star apples! Israel was kind enough to let us pick the fruit we wanted!
