Kaiser is losing its customer care service by rushing their patients and not "listening" to their…read morelegitimate requests. I was recently seen by a Chow Hwang PA-C for a painful 3+cm cyst removal on my midback centered over my spine. Local anesthesia was done. I was cut open and prodded to drain that cyst. Packed with dressing. PA-C Chow states it's gonna hurt after so I'll give you a work slip for 2 days. I mentioned a few vicodins should cover that pain.. easy fix. I asked the PA-C if she could cover the wound with Tegaderm/opsite for more protection from outside elements. Her first response was, "We dont have that here in the clinic." WTH?!? Im a retired Kaiser RN for 22 years. I know the clinics carry it. I also had to make sure the PA-C ordered a Rocephin IM injection to prevent any infection at the spinal site. She seemed hesitant thinking the prior course of oral Bactrim would take care of any infection. I also requested narcotic pain meds for comfort when the lidocaine wears off. Remember I came in because of pain to the site. Medical Assistant Marcia was awesome. While doing the dressing change she was able to get a few Tegaderms to help protect the surgical incision. Chow Hwang PA-C the clinic STILL HAS THEM. Thank you Marcia MA. When I went to the pharmacy to pick up my meds there were no pain meds and was told that the provider has 2 more patients then will get back to you. 40min passed and still no reply. Went to the front desk and asked a friend to call the MA to find out what's taking so long and also needed my work slip. Was told the MD is not prescribing pain meds. WTHHH! Make me wait like a dumbass for nothing like my time is not worth anything. Definitely not patient oriented. What happened to Kaiser?

I just needed a new doctor to give me refills on my prescriptions. I waited for over an hour passed my appointment time to see this disgusting man. He stormed into the room I was in and never greeted me. He demanded I sit down on the table to he could check my breathing. He immediately yelled (yes, he is mentally unstable) that the medication I take for my asthma isnt safe for pregnancy. They're Category B which is safe for pregnancy. Obviously I've done my research and have taken these medications with both of my children and throughout 4 OBGYNS and an extremely intelligent doctor at Spokane Allergy & Asthma what I take has been proven to be safe. He said he didn't care and he doesnt know my doctors so how would he know? He then proceeded to yell at me pushing a paper in my face going "where's your pharmacy! Why you never put your pharmacy!!" Luckily, they weren't too busy and from the receptionist to the provider, everyone was so accommodating, helpful, understanding, and kind. It was honestly such a pleasant visit. I've actually been there another time for my son while it was super busy and it was actually a pretty good visit that day too. So if I ever had to go again, I wouldn't have any doubt they will be just as accommodating, helpful, understanding, and kind.

I searched Yelp.com and found nothing, so I'm starting this "looking for a Review", in hopes other members can contribute their experiences for HMSA vs: Kaiser. This is what Tracy E in Honolulu, Hawaii said in a message just now: Hi Steve, I would reccomend going with HMSA rather than Kaiser. I have HMSA and my boyfriend has Kaiser, and we have found that there are many more doctors to choose from with HMSA. In addition, there is usually a long wait to see a doctor with Kaiser.
