Location: In the Carrefour du Nord.
The place: Like most mall restaurants, you order at the counter and take your food to go. If you're lucky, you'll find a free table in the food court.
The goods: I eat poutine maybe, 2-3 times a year. As such, I'm pretty picky about where I go - I mean, if I'm going to incur the wrath of my trainer, it has to be worthwhile, right? Anyway, this place is one of my top spots in the Laurentians because it never disappoints. The fries are always fresh, the sauce is good and if you order a large poutine, they put cheese on the top AND on the bottom. Um, hello? Yum! The only thing they could do, is add a little more sauce. Sometimes there's just not enough. These guys also serve other basics - hot dogs, fries and club sandwiches.
Service: I've always had good service here, but on this occasion, the service was outstanding. I'm not 100% sure but I think that the fellow who served me was the manager and/or owner. In any case, I ordered a large poutine to share with my mum because it was her birthday. I asked the fellow if it was big enough for two people because it was a 'birthday poutine.' When he realized that I wasn't kidding about it being my mom's birthday, he gave me a 50% discount. I don't know that this is standard practice but I sure appreciated the gesture! In addition to being very generous, he was also super friendly, as was the staff working that day.
Price point: I'm not sure about the regular but a large will be about $8. read more
