I guess I could say I was stuck with certain beliefs and there was no way to change them.
For example, one of my many beliefs was that my wife had to read Shakespeare (no kidding), or else we had nothing in common. Moreover, it was equally important that our daughters had to go out with guys that knew Shakespeare by heart (What a hypocrite - I certainly don't, but that's beside the point.
Just how crazy was I?
Without judgement, without giving me a lot of advice, without interpreting me with "valuable insights", Valery helped those beliefs relax. Turns out that the part of me that thought not getting Shakespeare disqualified a person from the human didn't truly believe it. But it thought it was doing something good for me, keeping me safe from the local thugs in the neighborhood, setting me apart among the peaceful intellectual types, but that was long, long ago.
Ultimately, with Valery's help, I learned to appreciate that part and ultimately let it go to do something else. How pleasant family life has become without all my beliefs stirring everyone up.
