TLDR: stay clear of this place, unless you like paying thousands for glorified day care…read more UPDATE - response to owner's (Cheronda A.) reply to this review: Hi Cheronda, I already did exactly what you suggest, before leaving this review I reached out to you directly to raise my concerns, which you refused to address after which you ended our conversation by writing quote; "There will be no further correspondence on this matter.", which now results in your incongruity between your private and public communication being on public display. Original review: British Swim School's Vallejo location, run by Cheronda A. and team, advertise their program as being able to "instilling water survival skills that save lives". After 17 months (64 lessons) and $2500 down the drain, we pulled our son from this program due to it being more akin to an aquatic day care (with you as the parent remaining present) than a swim program. The people at the school are nice enough interpersonally, but these are the red flags to notice: - After an initial few weeks you stop getting feedback, which when given is always verbally and never through skill progress item in the British Swim School's app. If you challenge the owner (Cheronda A.) on this, you will be gaslighted in there being more feedback than there actually is, and that it is their policy to only give verbal feedback versus using the app for what it is intended. - You'll notice your child will have many different instructors throughout lessons, with great variety as seniority as instructors. - You're paying about $40 for a 30min session, but on avg. there are 4 kids per classes, meaning even if you round up that's $40 for 10 minutes of instruction, as in the 64 "lessons" we paid for equates to having paid $2500 for less than 11 hours of instruction. - The lessons are utterly simple snd repetitive, and not lessons at all, the same 4 simple things are just endlessly repeated without any coaching or guidance from the instructors towards the child as to what to do different or how to improve. - The final straw, when you confront them on the inadequacies listed above, they will a) gaslight you in terms of feedback cycles, but much much worse, b) blame the lack of results on your child. In summary, this school will happily take your money for providing very little, and in terms of practical outcomes are operating in opposition of their mission statement.

I've been coming to this In-Shape for a few years now, and I've always liked it. Like any In-Shape,…read morethe membership isn't cheap, but when I renewed recently, the manager helped me get a good discount. They were willing to work with me, which I really appreciated. One thing I really like is that this is the only gym I've been to where my car has never been vandalized. At other gyms in Vallejo I've had my windows smashed, but never here. I'm not sure if it's because of the location or because the security guards are always walking the parking lot, but it definitely gives me peace of mind. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, the gym is clean, and they've been doing a lot of renovations lately. The equipment is well maintained, and the machines are rarely out of order. My only complaint is that the main weight room is a little small and can get crowded during peak hours. Other than that, it's a great gym, and I'd definitely recommend it.

Ms Alisa tells me that they don't allow us to speak to a managers unless it's something they can't handle. I said well I just asked to speak to one because I figured I would have to go through them to get some insight on how i should move forward about the potential membership there. Then she proceeds to say yeah that's not how that works and I'm only allowed to talk to a manager if she can't help me with the voice of arrogance that was just beyond me. At this point I'm wondering what's with the attitude and arrogance. Then she also proceeds to say I'm the only one there anyway. I couldn't get a word in edgewise because she was so focused being the manager police. I'm also thinking like a 35,000 square foot gym has only one person there. At this point I was completely turned off and said i would I just call back. Top flight Alisa has me totally reconsidering getting membership here if that's the culture of this place. Maybe she thought i was calling with a complaint, idk. However that attitude should've been checked at the door before she got to work.

I paid for the fitness shuffle classes to include the Zumba classes which was so much fun. My two nephews would be placed in the child watch section while their parents (My cousin) worked out. Before they started, I warned their instructor that we did not expect much because both of them were very hesitant about getting in the water and often refused to even try things like putting their face in the water or doing assisted floating. Jianna did an AMAZING job with my kids, because by the end of the 4 weeks, my 5 year old was swimming unassisted in backstroke and freestyle across the pool, and practicing skills to keep herself afloat and able to safely get to the wall. My 3 year old who wanted nothing to do with the water was getting in on his own, kicking when instructed, and even attempting to blow bubbles. Jianna was so patient and positive with my kids, and they looked forward to seeing her every day. She was attentive and so knowledgeable, and was able to work with very different development and skill levels extremely effectively. She has taken away so much stress from this mom and I am extremely grateful to her and Sunsational for these lessons. Definitely will be using again and highly recommend!
