I am in math L/1A1 which is for students who struggle with the subject. I have a disorder that makes the numbers on the pages fly around and equations don't make any sense to me. Math is incredibly hard for me to even begin working on. I also have an IEP. My teacher has provided me none of the accommodations I legally am required to have, so I failed my first trimester of math and am currently failing my second. In middle school, I was given all my accommodations in math and ended the year with a B, which is incredible for me. Both my parents have called the teacher herself, and the school, multiple times. No response or a "we'll get back to you blabab", and nothing ever happens. I have expressed my feelings to my counselor and case manager, nothing is being done. I do not enjoy being a student here. You are promised many things-accommodations, available resources, trustworthy teachers ect. I dont have much to say about the students, they are as you would expect teenagers to be. But I hear white students say the N word, I've heard a group of boys openly mock an Indian girl (copying her accent and twisting up their faces), ect. I have never seen a teacher call out a student before. I had a boy call me a pussy for speaking quietly, the teacher heard, said nothing. No accountability in this school. There's also a huge issue with vaping, but nothing is done. Maybe that is just every school though. If you are a straight A student who doesn't have any mental issues, you will probably thrive here. (Forgot to mention, but there is an autistic boy in my math class who is frequently mocked by the other students and the teacher bullies him on a regular basis. She treats him like he is a idiotic liability, and also refuses to give him the help he needs). If you have more than two questions a day in class, prepare to be cut off or yelled at. :)

Poor teaching and lack of support is not what I expected when moving into the Poway school district. We may need to transfer to Mt Carmel or Maranatha if this theme continues to ensure and healthy and supportive education.

His parents only enrolled him because it's "supposedly the best around and has high ratings" I now believe that it's only due to test scores. The child I had to watch was a troubled kid. He needed the right attention but instead of doing that they have enabled his behavior by letting him play on the playground to "decompress" whenever he wants and take him out of class to go to a "sensory room" which in my experience was very degrading. They also let him wander the halls all day without returning him to class. If you treat a child like they are less than their peers that child is doomed to be unsuccessful. Canyon View Elementary doesn't know how to discipline a child the right away. Instead they use a "reward system" and whenever said child got all his rewards all he wanted to do was spend time with the the staff. Which was again taking him out of class and preventing him to learn. He can hardly spell a word. They can't even handle him and his parents have to take time off work multiple times a week because he keeps getting suspended, almost like they don't know what they're doing and just don't want to deal with the child anymore. Why should the parents stop doing their job when the school should be doing theirs? Hands down the worst elementary school around in a while. They are supposed to make the school safe but yet I had to walk into campus (without any other parents) (without being searched, and without proper identification of who I was before entering the campus) I had to watch him until his assigned aid was available. Over all I would give this school zero stars. They don't know what they are doing and should hire more help with kids that have special needs and learn to not treat them accordingly. If they are acting out, calm them down but then treat them like any other child. Every bad reaction deserves a consequence without risking the development of their child's education.

The only areas on campus I visited were the student parking lot, stadium, and the girls locker room. Parking: Free parking. Although technically you're supposed to have a permit, but why let a little technicality stop you. The layout of the student lot is just plain weird. It doesn't follow a normal flow for a parking lot. And there's black, blend into the asphalt parking berms in the worst places. Let's put it this way, you need to pay attention or you're bottom out your car. Good thing I was paying attention... The stadium: Great job stadium design - no ones faces into the sun. But oh, it's freezing cold when the wind blows. And boy does it rip through that area like a mini hurricane. The girls locker room: This was huge and relatively clean. Lots of lockers and showers. Appreciated how the bathrooms were at the end of the building so that you don't have to walk through the locker room to reach them. One of the sinks was broken. I didn't take a photo. Yeah, like I want to try and explain to Escondido PD why I'm taking photos in a high school locker room. But I did snap a photo of the sign in the bathroom stall. After Jerabek rid itself of the horrible Kristie Joiner (rumor is that she is inflicting her horror show on a school in Palm Springs now), the new principal has pulled the Jerabek community together into something wonderful. Recently it has had a turn over in Principals. Since then, and even prior the school has not been focusing on the important things, a well rounded, safe school. Over the passed year my son, (8th Grader) has been harassed/bullied, by another child everyday. He has damaged his personal property on numerous occasions. My son chose to ignored it because he (my son) is much taller and didn't want trouble. The school staff brought this bullying situation up to the Principals and brought my son in to speak with him to check on his wellbeing. The school DID NOT NOTIFY ME!!! The way I found out (before my son was home from school) was the attendance hot line calling me to please excuse my sons absence from 2nd period. That was when I found out about everything. On the last week of school 2019, this same bully assaulted my child by hitting him in the head, three times in P.E. class. Of which I learned the P.E. teacher told my son previously, that he has a few options with this bully. He could hit him, but he would get in trouble, or he could choose to stay away from him. My son had repeatedly chose the latter. When my son came home and told me this bully hit him three times in the head, I emailed both the Assistant Principal and the Principal. Please remember I was notified about the school's staff being concerned for my sons well being, ONLY because the attendance recording called me. I heard back from both principals the following day. Of which they told me in writing that they have interviewed the witnesses independently, and I quote, 'All three statements and recollection of the events from yesterday were very much in alignment'. He carried on to mention my son is very polite and respectful. I was told, and I quote, 'Unfortunately, we are unable to share the consequences with you, as we are only able to speak you about your son'. The next day was 8th Grade promotion, 2019. I was awaiting my sons name, and first heard and saw the child that assaulted my child 2 days before, walk and get his promotion certificate. I felt so sorry for my son. He is just a stupid number at BMMS school. They had proof and still the child didn't get suspended. He stood up there proud as can be. This school is not focused on your child's safety. They aren't behind the ball, they chasing the ball. Such as having these young impressionistic children, abruptly leave their classrooms without their belongings, so the drug dogs can have a good sniff. Oh and you aren't, as a parent, notified about that happening either. Its all bad. I am a very fair person, but this school has a lot of work to do. I can't tell you how many families I know that pulled their families from there at the end of a year. I should have in recollection. Talk to other parents from the other surrounding middle schools, we all feel the same about BMMS.

Mr. Corso is very enthusiastic and caring which is always appreciated but he also listened to the students and parents and worked to "beautify" a very ugly campus. I was also impressed with most of the teachers ability to implement online learning. I know it was not easy for them, but they really cared and worked hard to keep the kids focused. While they did not teach much that was new, they did put a lot of effort into reinforcing what was previously taught. Well done!

I had a teacher her name was Mrs. Iverson she okay at the time but the more I go back in time and really think about it. Me and the other kids kinda got bullied by her. For example, my friend her name is Joanna she really wanted to do safety portal. So she ask Mrs. Iverson to sign the paper. So she read the paper and her words were "Joanna honey look you have a disability so this is a very big disadvantage for you so you can't do safety a patrol." And keep in mind the girl is 9 years old at the time. Like really come on that was so unnecessary. After that day she always looks down on her self and it still makes a big impact on her it's been 5 years since then. My personal experience with mrs. Iverson was interesting. I was cheering for Westview high school pop Warner. And at the time it just so happened to be competition season so that mean I miss one day and that day was a Friday. It also happened to be the day before winter break, so it shouldn't really matter because we were going to have a party anyways. BUT, Mrs Iverson told me her words. " Leilani aren't to fat to be in cheer." and keep in mind I was tall but I wasn't fat I only weighed about 70 pounds. To me that's not fat. So I came home crying because this wasn't the first this had happened with her with me and other kids. She didn't get fired and they just brushed it off. They didn't care. I was also only 9 years old so that caused me to have an ED and it is still with me 6 years later. So this really had an impact in my life as you hopefully can tell. So basically all I'm trying to say is that this school does not care about the special ed students that don't seem to have a disability from the outside. Because we mask it. If you don't know what masking it mean it mean to hide you "not normal habits" So if your kid does in fact have a disability and they do mask it. Very well around people they aren't close to. DON'T GO TO THIS SCHOOL BECAUSE THAT ISN'T EVEN THE WORSE I HAVE MORE experience from different teachers. BUT my favorite teacher of all time was Mrs. Mallory.
