Overall, we were quite pleased with the shop. We received good customer service and were happy to support a small local business with locally grown products at reasonable rates.

Having checked out the new PetSmart in Bedford I have a new found respect for this smaller sized…read morechain store. *It's much smaller (meaning you won't wander around aimlessly looking at things you don't have a need for). *While they carry far fewer food options for your pet, the brands that they do carry are superior. *They have a loyalty program (buy "X" bags get one free) *More centrally located (Clayton Park) *They won't have more than a few kittens at a time up for adoption. If you're lucky you'll get in and out without having your heart strings pulled too much. *Not a fish mill with dead floating fish in various tanks (since they don't exist at PV in the first place) *Just all around a better option unless you live out in Bedford.

It feels like a higher end pet supply store but is very comparable in price to other pet stores in the area. It does not carry any animals so you're not supporting backyard breeders or poor housing conditions. It has items such as pet food (dog, cat and small animal feed), pet treats, toys, beds, pet carriers, leashes, food bowls, etc. One thing that really stood out about this store, is that it carries items I've never seen anywhere else. The dog toys in stock were toys I've never seen before (I bought a couple for my dog and she's been squeaking them nonstop every since). They have a pretty big collection of dog leashes and harnesses which are modern and stylish. The quality of items seems quite high and the staff were very friendly and attentive. They did not carry my brand of dog food so I will still have to go to my regular pet supply store for that but besides that, I really liked this store. If you're getting bored with seeing the same leashes, toys and items at the pet stores around here, definitely check this place out.

It brought a bit of my inner child out again when I saw all the JD toys...albeit none within my budget range.. The store not only sells John Deere equipment, they also have Stihl products and the like. My reason for going to the store was that I had recently purchased a JD riding mower at Home Depot, but was unsure what kind of oil and gas it uses. The staff at the JD store were kind enough to bring the manual for my specific make and model up on their computer screen and then set me up with exactly what I needed. Really it made me feel kind of guilty/regretful for not purchasing it from them, but that's due to both ignorance on my part (didn't even know this store existed before today) and also that they weren't all that price competitive. I do think in retrospect that the higher prices at the JD store would have been worth it, just because of their expertise in the brand.

Global Pet Foods is our go-to shop for pretty much anything we need for our two dogs. I wouldn't…read moresay it's because they do anything crazy impressive over other pet stores, but they're close by, they have a wide selection of products, and they seem to know enough to answer most customer questions as they come up. Their loyalty program is often sending us home with unexpected free bags of food and their behind the cash selection of food supplements and vitamins are a great resource when you run into trouble with pet health. Typically I get a little uppity about supporting chains like Pets Unlimited so Global Pet Foods makes me feel that I'm giving my business to people who do care about animals - not just the ones owned by customers, but pets and animal rights as a whole.

I had left the Elmsdale location and on the way to sackville had decided to return it. It haddent been out of the box, the seal wasn't broken, and I still had the original receipt. Since the sackville location was closer to me than going back to Elmsdale I had decided to go there. I walked into the location being completely ignored by the two workers chatting, looked at the collars and then went to the counter and politely asked if I could return it. The woman who I was speaking to was very rude and told me that she could only give me store credit even though I said I was speaking to the manager of the Elmsdale location. The worker (Anna) was very rude, I had asked to speak to the manager when I had begun to get frustrated, and she had said she was the manager (come to find out, she was the assistant manager, therefore lying about her position). I asked to get in touch with the owner, which I could tell Anna's attitude was becoming worse and she said she would write down my name and phone number and that the owner would give me a call (still haven't received a call). I left upset and drove back to Elmsdale to return for a full refund, and even they couldnt believe that Sackville Pet Valu wouldnt return it. The Sackville location is the closest to my home, I normally buy my dogs food here, but from now on I will be making the drive to the Fall River or Elmsdale location, unless something changes at this location. Customer service is lacking.
